Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

The store is much snappier as are downloads seem much faster. Loving the Gamecube controller but I wish they wouldn't have omitted the minus button
For me feels just like it was back 23 years ago.. It's still the most ergonomic controller ever produced..

I had exactly the same thing mate delivered this morning and similarly I was annoyed.

I went down to the store to pick one up fresh and... turns out all the seals have basically disintegrated on all the consoles they had. I saw 3 of them, 4 including mine all the same. Staff confirmed the issue seems widespread and they've been advised about it.

I'm still returning my original as its also weirdly dusty and dirty inside but I genuinely think this is nothing more than cheap poor quality sticker seals. Slight tarnish on an otherwise exciting day.

ahhh thanks for this man. Its not great but hearing what you've explained makes me feel better. Mine was immaculate inside and so all good now.

Shame about yours. Deffo get a replacement just incase.

Tbh, this is more of a game (engine) issue rather than anything related to hardware lol. But it's great that the Switch 2 can brute-force it nonetheless for sure.

they already completely remade the game from the ground up in a different engine just so it can run on Switch 1 btw.

most people didn't even notice when the other platforms got a "patch" that switched out the game versions from the old engine go the new one.

Doom is not patched though, so it will run at max 720p@30fps docked and 576p@30fps on handheld
Aww that's a shame but thanks for the headsup! Will definitely wait until that's gotten a performance increase then as that game ran (and looked) like ass on the original Switch.

Breath of the Wild.

I'm using it for everything. I just couldn't save out of Animal Crossing when I tested to make sure my Island carried over.
Also I didn't even realize they omitted buttons since I only have the controller and not the device. Im stuck in the past man!

Edit:

Anyone that could try, is it possible to play Super Mario Sunshine (3D Collection) with the GC controller?

Well, they added buttons (ZL, Home, Screenshot, Chat), but omitted Minus and you also L3/R3 (stick clicks) but the latter makes sense.

But you been using it outside Nintendo Classics? I didn't even know that'd be possible - why else youd have a need for them I mean.

How are the triggers? Are they "heavy" to press like the OG? Or more like Xbox or PS

Pretty heavy and they have a stopping point at about an 80% press and a further press produces a click. I'm sure they are analog. They also added gyro functionality to the controller.

Issue with the seals going on all over Europe

I got two units, one from Nintendo (sealed), and one from Argos which had a split seal and a crease in the cardboard tab where it had obviously been opened. I guess a batch had the wrong codes or something and they had to re-open a shitload of them. I don't buy any 'weak tape' scenario, it was definitely opened after leaving the factory.

BTW I love Switch 2

Beta firmware needed to get the 8bitdo Ultimate Controllers working on the Switch 2

I've already updated mine and it's working now.

I already got my "It's your time to purchase Nintendo Switch™ 2 + Mario Kart™ World Bundle" email from Nintendo, despite not meeting the criteria since I don't have an online subscription. I wonder if they produced a ton of systems to meet demand, or if demand isn't as high as they anticipated.

In any event, I'm leaning towards passing since MK alone isn't enough. If my wife or the kids cared at all then maybe I'd bite, but that's not the case.

So, not really comfortable for racing games then probably?

No, it feels great. The triggers have a long throw. The problem is that I don't think the triggers on the Joy-Cons/Pro Controller have analog triggers so I doubt Switch 2 software is going to support analog triggers just for the GameCube controller.

Man Mario kart world looks a bit washed out to me. Like so many dirt tracks. And it has an almost breaking bad Mexican filter or something. Or it's using TAA. I don't know.

Most consoles launches, as you should know, would not have "100s of consoles" at a single store. Nintendo flooded the market with this console, it's sold out online and no doubt will sell well in those stores even if it doesnt sell out. this isn't like past console launches that were supply constrained for months.
This is my thought... I read 6-8 million vs PS5 3.5 million. I haven't ever seen more than 20-40 at most per store reserved for walk in sales. How every target near me (maybe 5 or 6 in a 5 mile radius) had ~100 units on hand in addition to selling out presales in roughly less an hour seems like a shit ton of launch consoles.
Reminds me of Switch launch. Was fairly easy to get.
LOL yeah easy to get the first day then you couldn't get one for about 9 months after that. (if memory serves).

Anecdotal: My wife bitched at me being in line for one, so I gave up my ticket and passed. Sometime later maybe (4-6 months) they were still selling at a pretty high premium and I said "see I could have gotten one back then". She actually agreed and said "yeah you're right".
Turns out the coworker I went with this time actually got one at the same Target I was in line for; at about noon that same launch day.

Yes, that's why I asked the question. Are they comfortable to push down for a longer time (racing)?

I gotta ask again, is there anyone that can confirm that the GC controller (analogue triggers and all) works as expected on Switch 2 on 3D all stars?!

Have you never used a GameCube controller? It has some quirks (d-pad, only three shoulder buttons, but they did add an additional to this iteration but it's even smaller than the already small ZR), but it's a really comfortable controller, especially how your fingers rest in the trigger grooves. Mario Kart World uses the a button to accelerate though.

Yes, I did. But the old one is quite tough to press down. There is resistance. So just wondering if that was maybe lightened up a bit.

HDR adjustments aren't working right

It detected HDR but when I adjust it to make the "pattern on the left visible and the pattern on right not visible" it's impossible to make the pattern on the left go away

I have this exact issue:

Anyone else run into this?

TV is lg c1
Yep. Was just about to post the same thing.

I've adjusted my OLED to HDR10 and then adjusted the Switch to both logos being barely visible.

Looks good, but the in built settings are clearly bugged.

That happened with Switch 1 too. It means there's a weakness in your hdmi connection during the "handshaking" process. Make sure there's no tension on the hdmi or its not loose on either end.
Dock is about a foot from the TV. No tension. Using the hdmi cable that came with it

Jezus christ who has the patience to put a screenprotector on correctly. Dust instantly clings to it, bubbles everywhere. Fuck a screensaver then, Id rather just buy a new one than go through that again.
You need to use the steamy shower method. I did two perfect applications last night from different brands not a speck of dust underneath.

Surprised by the image quality on Mario kart world.

Textures are garbage but it's pretty sharp at what ever output it's using

Left stick on the Pro Controller feels buttery smooth. Right stick has some weird resistance at 8:45. Doesn't rotate as smoothly as the left for sure. Especially when going round the outer edges. Weird. Gonna return it for sure.

Anybody else with this phenomenon?

Shame to hear about all the broken seals...I ordered mine from GAME uk and it was perfect.no tampering or broken seals. Despite all the shit game get mine came today with perfect tracking time and brand new no tampering.

Just set it up and about to start MK world, really like the new joy Con's.

Man the switch 2 feels so much better. Joy cons are waaaaay better than the old ones, the sticks are way smoother, the buttons are bigger and feel nicer to press and the system audio is better…
So far, I am pleasantly impressed with the system.

Also the switch 2 pro controller feels smaller in my hands than the old one. The new sticks are wild.

For me - they both feel buttery smoother all around.
