Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

A target 45 mins from me had a bunch left over 10 or more they said at 3pm. Took the drive and picked one up. I just hate how, that I can't buy a bunch of old switch games for cheap they are all hovering around full price.
I just checked and all my best buy's in the City have them still in stock. Nintendo must have shipped a shit ton

Checked this morning for all central Alabama Targets. All had stock

Now. One 1 has stock. Apparently 2 left according to the website. In store pickup only. 1 per customer. Both great things. No scalping.

I expect Supply to also be replenished quickly. This is a good thing frankly
Yeah, I'm curious to see how quick they are to restock these things. In my area the MKW bundles are gone. There's 1 store in Gaithersburg, MD that has a regular Switch 2 but all other stores are sold out.

I was shocked a few stores near me had any in stock at all, same deal here no ordering online and holding it. Girl on the phone said they have around 10 left and they couldn't hold any even after I told her I was driving 40+ mins she said good luck and they could be gone by the time I arrived lol Anyway checked stock like an hour after and all the stores look totally wiped out.
Remember the OLD days? I'd call for a system or game "oh man. Hold it for me" they WOULD. They'd put one behind the counter for ya

Those were good times

The closer I got to the store the more traffic I hit I was for sure they would be gone by the time I arrived. And yea the last time they set something aside from me was when payday 2 had the fucked up launch and hardly had any copies, I had to call target 12 times before someone picked up far cry from the old days

Amazon doing some shady stuff and refusing payment with a payment method that's always been valid, just before shipping... (I pre-ordered on day 1 in April)
Well, I guess see you in 2 years when it'll be available again, or never.

Yeah. There's 1 available 45 mins from me. There's a 0% chance I'd go if I even Wanted one. (I do want one. But I'm waiting) but anyhow I'd be scared it would be gone.

Didn't realize you can use your own PC webcams on the Switch 2. Just tested an old 720p/30fps cam I have that sits on the top on the screen and it works fine in the 'Test Camera' settings.

The Odyssey upgrade impresses me more than the Zelda games.

Really need a Metroid update. Dread looks fuzzy even in handheld.

The pro controller is amazing. Love everything about it. Texture's great, back buttons are positioned perfectly, and the joysticks are awesome.

The joystick on the right joycon is positioned horribly and has been since the first Switch. No one seems to care because it looks good I guess.

All in all, a powerful enough system to be played in docked mode and a screen big enough to be played handheld.

That's pretty much my take. He isn't wrong, but how is it he doesn't get this is the norm now?

I've never really liked gaming journalists talking about pricing in the first place as it feels like they are trying to seem like they aren't out of touch with the average consumer and that just isn't the case (yeah, I know Grubb now owns/operates his own website, but the realities of the comps he gets and what he can write offer differs from the general public).

Yeah, kind of sick of that shit. I refrained from posting an article this week where VGC was crying about not getting a Switch 2 from Nintendo for review. I think Nintendo should have sent out review units, but the fact they didn't doesn't mean journalists should soak our browsers with their tears. Just means their job is a little harder and oh......they have to actually buy one like the rest of us. Keep crying, VGC.

This virtual card system is retarded.
Only upside (for me at least) is that I can now easily share my digital games with everyone in my family. Before you had to sign in, and could only set one device as your primary, so it really only worked to "share" if you just had two Switches. With the new system, I can loan one game to my son while loaning another to my daughter or wife. They can also loan me their games, and it's all somewhat intuitive once you get a handle on it.

Buy Arcade Archive 2 RIDGE RACER and share it with me, dad.

Yeah well, from my understanding, Costco has at least the number of units as they have the carton display on the floor.

Here's the image I took at the entrance. If that's not more than a hundred...

This is one of the reasons Nintendo delayed releasing it. So they could produce a lot of units for launch.

The Switch 2 has millions more consoles available than any console launch ever. Its positively flowing over with machines. This is the first console launch where you can easily find a system the day after. And that is what Nintendo was aiming to do. Scalping is a non-factor now.

I'm in no rush to get one but this made me question my reality.

We have so many where I live. 12 bestbuy with both the switch 2 and the bundle in stock. Anyone who tries to scalp will lose money badly. As expected, this shit cannot sell out in Canada at this price.

Costco is tricky though - they usually have more cardboard cutouts than actual consoles. This happens because they usually restock the cardboard thingies directly after selling a console, even if it doesn't represent an actual console they have in stock. When they run out, they just take the whole pallet off the sales floor and put it up until another shipment comes in.

yep cardboard thingies doesn't necessarily equal stock in my experience.

I know things can't be perfect but all console launches should be more like this going into the future, although who knows how many traditional consoles releases are left in the future

What's crazy is if I didn't have my OG Switch I guess I'd never be able to play my digital library on S2? Everytime I would try to load a game it told me I needed to update my original switch first. Literally could not play anything. Even when I just bought Fast Fusion. It wouldn't let me start that until I updated my S1.

If it is USB and supports standard webcam protocol it will work

This is better than everyone else who forces you to buy their specific camera

But I wonder if such easy connection will drive actual usage, historically no one uses cameras to play video games

BIG CREDIT to Nintendo: This is how you do launch day services for your console! Just picked up my stuff and:

  • Sign-in via QR code worked perfect
  • Flawless transfer from my OLED Switch
  • Accepted MKW voucher, immediately started download
  • Went to buy TOTK Upgrade, recognized my NSO xpac membership and said "hey you can download this for free"
  • Everything just works? eshop feels so snappy now

UPDATE: just tried GameChat playing MKW 2v2 and it also just works?

The open room mic quality is INSANE, and I didn't have to fiddle with anything. It feels like sitting in the room together.

WTF Nintendo, 10/10 online experience for launch day.

It's sold out at my Walmart now in Canada. Was a total of 30 units.
Though I do wonder how much of an impact the price will have long term.

Walmart delivered my switch at 6:08 a.m. this morning, pretty impressive honestly.

I felt something weird in the package that I definitely didn't order and thought that was kind of strange but wasn't able to check it until later today and I found a can of pizza flavored Pringles and a coca-cola. Anyone else get something like this with their order? Is this something they do often?

I decided to wait to open it until tomorrow so my daughter can experience opening the new system and all as much as I don't want to wait.

Also, strangely, the charge they made on Sunday was just a temporary charge and currently there is no charge on my account for the switch too. Weird that it's in my hand and they haven't charged me yet.

I don't have any software for it so that may be dampens the excitement a bit but at the very least can play the HD versions of Tears of the Kingdom and whatnot which she loves.

Is the Expansion Pass worth $50?
Do you play a lot of retro games, or want to play stuff like Soul Caliber II online? If so, $50 extra for the year is a pretty small price to pay.

It also comes with a few "free" (for as long as you stay subscribed) expansion packs for Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing, and now the two Zelda Switch 2 upgrades. Honestly though, I'd recommend just buying those things outright if you want them - because in most cases they'll lock your save file if you stop being a subscriber.

Some retro but mostly emulators. Alright I'll skip it. Thanks
