I tried Undertale and shut it off after about an hour. Never went back. Didn't like it.

What am I missing about these games? What other games are they like? Thinking about whether I need to give this or Undertale anther shot.

The humor and the music are great imo.

But if you've played for an hour and didnt like it I wouldnt bother going back tbf

Earthbound is the closest thing I compare them to.

I might buy it now or just wait until they update it with the 7 planned chapters (if my googling is accurate.)
Don't like the idea of buying a game with only about 60% of it playable and waiting for the (free) updates with no real time window. Don't want to get sucked into and hit that wall.

Yeah, this is where I'm at. Does anyone know if this is gonna be a "full" game? I might just wait for reviews.

I'm incredibly excited to play it, I just don't want to play it in chunks and have to wait years for it to finish.

It's like Earthbound made by ResetEra. The main characters are gay and there's other LGBT stuff. Never got the hype for it and never will. Good music though.

I found undertale to be the biggest load of crap that I've ever played when I tried it.

My middle son was more excited when this was revealed during the Switch 2 thing than I think I have ever seen anyone excited for something, outside of those weirdos at Star Wars conventions watching trailers for the latest shitty movies.

I bought it on Steam for the kids this morning. He says it's really good so far. I tried the first one and made it 16 minutes.

What are you talking about? The protagonists of the original game and Deltarune are nonbinary, and there's a lesbian couple in both games. That's really it.

I really loved doing a pacifist run in Undertale. Just talking to folks and becoming friends with them. Shit was cool.

And the beats were banging

and it had cool doggo's

Didnt care too much for sans or his brother to be honest lmao

But getting the best ending and that music omggg it was certainly a ride

This is coming from a old school NES/Megadrive head

Considering deltarune part 1 originally came out in 2018, it's probably a safe bet to wait.

I loved undertale but have 0 interest in this

Not sure I'll get there. I finally started chapter 1 this evening and I'm only 45 minutes in and it just isn't grabbing me like Undertale did.
I was the same when I started Chapter 1 but after a a few hours I did get into it. Chapter 2 on the other hand is I think better than Undertale itself. Chapter 3 is such a miss though, legit fan game nrg.

Even if you dont like Chapter 1 that much it's so worth it just to play Chapter 2.

Chapter 3 is pretty good and the "weird route" is bloody amazing what are you talking about?
Undertale and Deltarune is all about discovering new locations meeting new characters and having great music. None of these things were present in Chapter 3 for me. The mini games already felt old by the 2nd time you had to run them again. I barely remember a single bit of music from Chapter 3. Please no more forced Zelda sections in these kind of games please.

Have you started Chapter 4 yet it's way better in comparison. Cool places to explore. I dont want to be trapped in the same location doing the same things over and over for like 4-5 hours.

This is where I'm at too, I liked Undertale, but asking for $30 for this is taking the piss a wee bit, I'll wait for a sale

Game prices seem to be going up everywhere. I was excited about Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer until I saw it was $16.99.

Well, i don't agree entirely. How the characters are written, the lore and the gameplay variations are also improtant to me. And Chapter 3 had plenty of that. But i can see if you only care about those 3 then you might not like it as much.
Also,
The Knight battle
music was a banger.

Yup, i agree that 4 is both better and blew my mind in some of the stuff it unrevealed.
Especially about the "LOVE finds a way into the girl's heart" part.
I did not even think
about our heroes might not even be "the heroes of legend."

Yeah, honestly I had the same reaction to that too. It's wishlisted, but I cant justify buying Ridge Racer again for that price

how many more chapters are confirmed to be coming? I won't buy this until all chapters are out.

No idea. I picked it up off PSN last Friday for $25. It just looks SO fucking weird. Super intrigued. I thought Undertale was ok, but I dont get the psycho fandom about it. The music was the standout for me.

I remember when I first played Undertale. I was a backer and had no idea what I was in for. Obviously no reviews were out yet. Then it took over the zeitgeist. The genocide run was brutal and fun. That Sans fight is God-tier.

The game is weird..ch3+4
-some of the most enjoyable music I witnessed
-raslei acting too femboy sometimes
-boards were a chore but the other mini games were excellent
-battle design has some great original mechanics added
