Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

I was surprised how good everything feels until I watched a teardown video.

The controller is like 4 parts put together for bracing and every single hole for the buttons is lined with silicone. The sticks are so smooth because they have silicone lined stick gates preventing them from ever hitting the edges.

I still don't like that it's $85 but after seeing the teardown video I'm not surprised. They put a lot of work into this controller and it shows.

Here's the video I watched if anybody wants to see what I'm talking about.

Great teardown video, looks like Nintendo has retired the 3DS 1300mAh battery. Now I am curious how the battery life is on the Switch 2 pro controller.

nowdays kids play with tablets bigger that this, Nintendo knew it
ya maybe. I picked one up yesterday and if I was playing handheld the old one is much more comfortable. There's probably a switch 2 light smaller one version coming also.

Nintendo is a master milker

If the system is docked and power goes out, does it switch to running on battery so that it doesn't suddenly die, or does it instantly lose power?

Its on 100% battery. If you lose power the system will be at 100% and it will switch to handheld mode

Quick question I could probably look up but I'll ask it here - if you buy the physical version of a Switch 2 game that also has a Switch 1 version, will the cartridge still work in a Switch 1? I handed off my Switch 1 to my kid and he's interested in the new Pokemon Legends coming out in the fall, so if I buy the Switch 2 cartridge can he put it in his Switch and play the Switch 1 version, and I put it in mine and play the Switch 2 version? Or should I get the Switch 1 version and just buy the upgrade through the store on mine.

Question: Which would you play, BOTW or TOTK?

A little context, I bought both when they launched. In BOTW, I took down 2 of the 4 big automaton boss thingies, and quit. Haven't bought or touched the DLC.
In TOTK, I don't remember how far I got but I'd say probably 20 hours or less of play.

Given all that, should I just start with BOTW and buy the DLC to make it (I'm assuming) have more stuff to do, or should I just skip it entirely and go for TOTK?

The carts for the Switch 2 editions of the Zelda games also contain the Switch 1 versions and work on the original Switch. Pokemon will probably work the same way, but there's been no official statement on this.

I never finished Botw so I'm going back to that. I also took down 2 of the 4 beasts. I'm enjoying this playthrough a lot more than the first one. Frame rate and better input reponse are great.

Actors on social media have been a huge mistake. They keep exposing themselves as deranged lunatics.

"It's EVERYTHINGGGGG!" *pulls retarded face*

Just act and shut up.
Actors get excited about games too. Didn't people love when Henry Cavill made his PC? How is that any different? Is it because it's this particular actor, or because it's Nintendo?

I fear some people are missing out on Switch 2. Poor bastard. Uh....I mean...bastards.

I ended up buying a month of Nintendo Online. Originally was going to play mario kart world but I checked out Splatoon 3 after the new patch for Switch 2 and was having so much fun I just stayed on it all evening.

Pro controller review by Retro Game Corps. Dpad is still a bit too sensitive for some games but likes a lot about the controller

That does seem to be the best "leave it on" alternative avaliable atm. Looking foreward to seeing your impression.

I'll post pics when I get it. Honestly, I'd rather have an easier way to detach the joycons for first person games like Metroid, but those type of games may be few and far between.

Until we start seeing ergonomic 3rd party joycons I guess something like that will have to do.

We all love Cavill cause he's a beast and one of us. Brie Larson is total cunt. Surprised to see her excited for the Switch 2 though, kinda made me respect her more .

It definitely helps along with having top and bottom usb-c ports.

I'm surprised there isn't handheld cam solution yet. Even that little Kano worm-light cam would be great if it just had usb-c instead of usb.

With the 'Expand Main Screen' setting, the game screen window is roughly 16cm/6 1/4in. Basically the same size as the original Switch's screen.
Can the Kano be used with a usb c adapter?

Bonkers sales world wide and yet 3rd party developers missed the launch like a bunch of morons.
Nintendo carefully curated the launch and is trying to strategically controll the first several months of content release. They want all new software to get some time to breath/sell before announcing and releasing new software.

They (apparently) have 3 reported Launch phases regarding game releases (Google it)

So Ive recently discovered a potential design flaw.

The 'sleeve' underneath my left joystick keeps getting caught. Its an easy fix whenever it happens but its still a nuisance

I honestly can't believe how much i'm enjoying Tears of the Kingdom.

I bought it at launch, played a few hours and gave up.

Now it feels like an entirely different game on the Switch 2.

Did the same. Definitely a lot better on switch 2, but im too busy playing mk world instead

I would say highly likely. That's what I used to test with the old 720p webcam I used in my previous post. The only concern might be the orientation of the camera, although it is Bendy so you could always curve it back.

Just experienced my first glitch/bug.
I had finished playing Mario Kart World and I wanted to see where my controller battery was at. I went to the home menu and then clicked to go into the controller sub menu but the screen was just black like it didn't load. I pressed the power button on the system and the power menu came up but none of the controller buttons did anything. Then I powered down the console, powered it back on, and everything was fine again.

I used to take those PlayStation stability updates for granted but I'm looking forward to getting some for the Switch 2.

So, if I sell my original switch, will it be a pain in the ass to get a Switch 2 and connect it to my account? Or is it simply just logging in, and I can download my digital copies and cloud saves?

Easy. You can make your Switch 2 your primary immediately

No harm in deactivating your OG Switch though although I didn't

You should be able to just redownload everything you upload. It was pretty simple for me although I did transfer (but I think that just saves download time). The cloud saves work pretty seamlessly. My stepson is playing TMNT Splintered Fate right now on both S1 and S2 depending which is available and all he has to do is load the Virtual Game Card on either system to play from his same save. The Virtual Game Card system is actually much simpler and easier to understand than it looks too.

I say finish BotW first, you haven't seen enough of it to skip right to the sequel. There's a lot of good stuff to see in the first game that would be a shame to miss (and imho BotW is a better game all around, but you'll be able to make your own opinion on that matter).
