It's only for the 1TB model. 512GB is still available and it's probably a better buy anyways.

Edit: I can't read. Saw an article a few days ago about 1TB model but it looks like 512GB is in the same boat now. Weird.

If it's because they are gearing up for a new one I'd rather they wait for an even better apu honestly. The current offerings are just not a big enough jump to get excited about

Mobile seemed to be accelerating so fast 5 years ago but now in the last 2 years it seems like progress has stopped completely

I thought handhelds would atleast be half the power of ps5 by now

I dunno, it's pretty impressive to me that mobile phones are now emulating newish PC games through Winlator and GameHub. There are videos floating around of phones running GTA 5.

EDIT: This one's neat too.

They need to release an updated deck.

They are not in a rush. They have always said this is to help kickstart the handheld PC segment which by proxy, help drives the PC market alongside laptop, mini PC, desktop PC and others.

Which it did with new handheld PC being introduced every 2 months now while Steam continues to grow with 3rd party publishers like Ubisoft, Sony, Koei Tecmo, Capcom etc releasing games on it.

Given the resolution of handheld screens the jump is decent enough - top line ones can run AAA on medium at 45-50FPS, good for me.

If you look up the actual sales numbers, they're next to nothing. Makes you wonder if it's artificial scarcity.

The steam deck is currently ranked 6th in global steam revenue. The cheapest steam deck is 400 dollars.

If we assume the steam deck is generating 100 million in revenue per month which would be the equivalent of a 50 dollar game selling 2 million copies a month (we know for example Dune awakening is at around 700K units sold since it launched).

Assuming every SKU is the cheapest one, which we know it isn't 100 million divided by 400 is 250K units.

The most expensive steam deck is 650. The fewest units would be at about 150K units.

Think it's safe to assume it's around or under 100 million in revenue per month. Lest we believe Eldenring Night reign is doing 2.5 million units per month. We know it's done 3.5 million total across platforms in 2 weeks. We could maybe extrapolate that to 5 million (6 if we were being generous) over the month, and assume at most the 2.5 would represent half the total sales going to PC.

Summer begins in a week in the US. The message from Valve is saying stock should be replenished sometime in the summer.

It said the by the end of summer

Good. Valve needs to put out a new Steam Deck with the new Z2 Extreme. Nobody should be buying an SteamDeck when better options from Legion and Asus are available when you install Bazzite/SteamOS

Keep the screen at 720p, but bump it up 8" add VRR and add a refresh rate of 144 and 120. This will make it easy to lock games to 30, 40, 48, 60, 72 fps.
