Kid one: "My AI can beat your AI!"I'm all for having proper and unbiased information but stuff like this makes me wonder what it will be like in 50 years when everyone has their own personalized ai. We think we live in bubbles now…
I think this is the thing about Elon. I imagine it's hard to be remotely normal when you have that much money. So a lot of people in his situation are probably weird in similar ways. But Elon desperately wants people to like him, think he's funny and that he's a good poster in a way that the others don't seem to give a shit about. We all have stupid thoughts and stuff we keep to ourselves. Musk post everything that pops into his head.
The Ai equivalent ofKid one: "My AI can beat your AI!"
Kid two: "Well, my AI works for Nintendo!"
To be fair, for Elon it has nothing to do with his money. It's just his personality.I think this is the thing about Elon. I imagine it's hard to be remotely normal when you have that much money. So a lot of people in his situation are probably weird in similar ways. But Elon desperately wants people to like him, think he's funny and that he's a good poster in a way that the others don't seem to give a shit about.
Musk has always been and always will be a charlatan.
It's because AI like Grok were the final dam wall against the constant flood of BS that people would randomly post online. This has been going on since Grok confirmed that xAI was trying to make it more right wing, but I think it was this post that was the nail in the coffin. It's a shame because Elon bought twitter to get rid of how political twitter had become and now it feels like twitter is more political than ever with the owner literally manipulating AI.
I say fuck AI. I hate how every tweet has the very first post asking Grok if this is real. It's retarded to have AI fact check every post. Thats what community posts are for. Just remove Grok from twitter and let fucking human beings interact with each other instead of constantly turning to Grok to affirm your right or left wing political views. twitter used to be fun. Politics are never fun.
This comes just days after Elon Musk was seen posting replies to Grok over information he disagreed with, going as far to call Grok a "Dumb AI" for citing sources he dislikes.
...so a source he dislikes."Sources he disliked", he lambasted Grok for using Rolling Stone of all websites as a neutral unbiased source and he was absolutely right.
Then the smart thing to do would be to ask the AI to sample more sources, not change it completely so that his opinion is the right opinion."Sources he disliked", he lambasted Grok for using Rolling Stone of all websites as a neutral unbiased source and he was absolutely right.
...so a source he dislikes.
Same for all the other times he's publicly criticised Grok it's always been when Grok has gone against his views.
You seem to be glossing over all the other times he's done, but to answer your question, I can't say, I've never read it, but I'll ask you, who gets to decide what sources are "unbiased and neutral" and why is Grok always berated by Elon Musk when it doesn't agree with him.Is he wrong? Would you consider Rolling Stone a neutral unbiased outlet?
Well they've done a really good job with Grok so far I'd argue. It has helped me with so much stuff. Whatever they do I'm cool with it.
But who gets to decide what's left or right for the AI? And why does it only seem to be an issue when Musk doesn't agree with it? Surely fact should be fact regardless of political stance, if a left wing website said the grass is green and a right wing website said the grass is purple would you still want the AI to ignore the left wing website? The problem with these AIs are they are all sourcing left wing sources. How long until Grok makes a black Julius Caesar like that other AI?
You flipped out about a joke last time because you just happened to miss the last time Elon messed with Grok so don't try and act like thatOh so this is today's 2 Minutes of Musk Hate thread
We haven't had one these in a few months after everyone who screamed about him being a Nazi found a new Current Thing to scream about, I was starting to miss these threads
The Internet is generally heavily dominated by leftists because all of the Mag 7 tech companies are super woke and boost woke sources while burying, shadowbanning, and de-platforming unwoke sources. The 5 who are notorious for this are Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Apple, and Microsoft. The 2 remaining Mag 7 companies, Nvidia and Tesla, have nothing to do with the Internet's general access to informationThe problem with these AIs are they are all sourcing left wing sources. How long until Grok makes a black Julius Caesar like that other AI?
Again, shouldn't the AI just be reporting fact and truth? Look at my example above, if a left wing site says the grass is green and a right wing one says it's purple are you going to believe the grass is purple because fuck the lefty wokes? The Internet is generally heavily dominated by leftists because all of the Mag 7 tech companies are super woke and boost woke sources while burying, shadowbanning, and de-platforming unwoke sources. Add to this places like Reddit and Wikipedia which are also extremely left-wing and it's not hard to see why 99% of Internet discourse is super leftist and of course that means all the AI's which are trained by ingesting the entire Internet become super leftist and woke. The only AI where there is any effort to try and counter-train this is Grok so of course the usual people who all screamed Elon was a Nazi are against this
Elon buying Twitter basically is the landmark event that stopped the complete control of all information on the Internet by the left wing. Twitter exists almost alone as the only source of information on the Internet which has actual other points of view besides the Democrat Party official line on everything
Come now, Rolling Stone belongs next to other tabloids such as the National Enquirer. If an AI cannot discern what is good information and what is not, it's useless. All it can do is see how many sources are saying the same thing, it can't do it's own research to see if what the sources are saying is true. AI would have said Saddam had nukes if it were around in 2003.You seem to be glossing over all the other times he's done, but to answer your question, I can't say, I've never read it, but I'll ask you, who gets to decide what sources are "unbiased and neutral" and why is Grok always berated by Elon Musk when it doesn't agree with him.
Isn't it just as useless if it's just posting sources approved by Elon Musk? That's still propaganda just coming from Musk approved places instead.Come now, Rolling Stone belongs next to other tabloids such as the National Enquirer. Honestly, AI shouldn't be sourcing material from any mainstream corporate media on either the right or left because they all parrot the same things.

No disagreement here, I'm just saying I find AI in general to be useless and reduces critical thinking.Isn't it just as useless if it's just posting sources approved by Elon Musk? That's still propaganda just coming from Musk approved places instead.
Its all fun and games when he removes an outlet that you happen to disagree with, but then suddenly that stance will change once he removes an outlet that you like.Is he wrong? Would you consider Rolling Stone a neutral unbiased outlet?
It's all about control, infinite growth, shareholders and investors, those are the reasons America is falling apart. Its all fun and games when he removes an outlet that you happen to disagree with, but then suddenly that stance will change once he removes an outlet that you like.
Its a dangerous game we play.
Elon is a charlatan claiming he's for free speech. In reality, he's in it for himself. Watch how Grok saying things that cast Elon or his company in a bad light, suddenly start to disappear.
Grok and Twitter should be legally separated. No social media platform should have the power to train an AI model that is intended to be used for fact checking, because its oh so easy to infuse it with propaganda.
More broadly, I think LLM chatbots should just be banned. We're losing our ability to think and reason independently all in the name of "muh efficiency". Children aren't learning how to think and reason independently. All so that we can trawl through that spreadsheet 50% faster, to make the shareholders of multinationals a bit more money at quarter-end. Fucking nonsense.
Agreed. The smart thing to do would be to take contested US vs THEM subjects like this, and ensure that AI absolutely refuses to give a definitive answer, while forcing everyone to read examples of the worst shit both sides have done. Ideally, that's what will happen. Then the smart thing to do would be to ask the AI to sample more sources, not change it completely so that his opinion is the right opinion.
It's unfortunate, only in an ideal world would AI be used as a better version of an encyclopedia, to encourage further reading and learning, as you're suggesting.Agreed. This already happens constantly with the media, who would rather push a narrative that benefits their ideology, rather than do actual reporting and learning the facts of a given situation. If you want to know the actual truth of pretty much any controversial news story these days, you really do have to look at the arguments being made by all sides and do your own research. It's honestly great for critical thinking skills, although we're not encouraging people to use those anymore.Wait and watch Twitter / X becoming an Orwellian paradise.
A place where 2+2 equals 5 with an AI telling us so, until they day it equals 6 and thr AI denying it even was 5.
