Decided to check out XBoxEra for shits and giggles and holy shit….delusional and disgusting doesn't even begin to describe it.

Those people are sick in the head.

That place needs nuked.

Spent all that fucking money buying publishers and then fire people to save money for themselves.

smh

I don't know how much more evidence anyone needs that a company being successful, doesn't automatically mean they will hire more, they might fuck around and do the exact opposite.

I'm so sorry for those effected by this. I hope they are able to land on their feet at some other IT company as MS is a big name to have on a resume.

When it begins to come out just how fucking incredible the title he was working on was that got axed today.

That game had some of the best reactions from folks who played it as playtest for an MP-focused title that i'd heard from in years. It takes an absolute truck load to have folks heap praise on an MP playtest in modern times. This game would've been spectacular.

Edit:

Typically, in situations where publicly-known games get cancelled, theres this sense in the fanbase of 'the thing we didn't get might've been so incredible', and finger-pointing amongst execs who just didn't get it. FOMO and all that. Well, this is one of the cancelled games that, by literally every account, sounded like it would've been a slam dunk in literally every sense. Felt like I should make an edit to clarify a little further.
"Tribute" song vibes here. "This game was awesome. I can't say why, but trust me."

lol those are the morons, that boycotted retardera for being anti-xbox ffs ?
im getting headaches trying to imagine the alternative universe they exist in

Given the absolute treasure trove of IP they've bought in the past decade, this feels like it should be a crime….

I'm very glad to have seen a lot less cheering for MS to acquire more gaming publishers/studios since ABK closed. Given how they operate, it was never a good idea for them to acquire IPs and it's regrettable that not only did they - people who like games were actually happy about it.

Kvally Kvally , while I'm glad you finally found somewhere you can call home, care to explain yourself?

If it was in the works, or ever does happen, it'll be like a wet fart. I really think the Halo brand is so tarnished at this point, that most people don't care about it anymore. It certainly isn't big among anyone under a certain age.
I really only care about MCC being on PS

But I expect the next Halo title to be multiplat

Wouldn't matter. They always gotta have their multi-millionaires at the top. The people in the middle and bottom don't exist to the shareholders and other people at the top. Get rid of Phil Spencer, some other idiot takes his places, making just as much if not more money.

Theres more to come regarding that particular sentiment. To note though: this is the kind of group you would gut if you basically don't give a shit about your platform being adopted going forward.

Their recent raising of prices on their hardware also gave off that sentiment, imo.

We've done this song and dance. Stop.

It's quite valiant that you still have the confidence to do this after everything that's happened today.

How about this, I'll "stop" when they prove to me it can be done and that the entire Steam library can be played on this "console" without compromise.

Because that's the current status quo - steam games require a PC OS, and it's up to them to prove otherwise.

I don't know if you've noticed, but given Microsoft and Xbox's recent exploits when it comes to getting shit done on the tools/OS side for gaming I don't see any reason to place an optimistic bet on them being able to do anything to change things as they stand today.

But in the meantime, I'll gladly enjoy full access to Steam on top end PC hardware, along with on my Steam deck, while you continue to sit there waiting for them to deliver on yet another of their long list of unfulfilled promises.

P. S. How was VR on the Xbox One X by the way? I didn't really follow it after the announcement Phil made, did it work well?

Very well, we'll chat on this topic again in the future. In the meantime, please stop saying "it can't be done".

Even worse: they shouted down at those of us who called this exact thing like 4 years ago. Their tribal bullshit was more important than the actual health of the brand and the consumer base (of which they were a part of. Allegedly. Not entirely sold on all these shills actually buying or owning the console).

I wonder if the poor CEOs are gonna have to use a different type of puffin fur for the cover of their toilet rolls in their new yachts. Scary times for them.

Copy paste CEO response, "oh its awful and not nice when we have to "resize" teams for the betterment of the company. We are looking forward to the future and the amazing products we can produce at an even bigger profit. Be blessed and we do listen to you, honestly"

No one will believe this, but I agree with GHG GHG 😬. If it has Steam it means its just able to load up Windows or a heavily restricted Windows Lite that may restrict some elements of full Windows but run all Steam games.

I also believe HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 who is adamant about it. So I'll just wait and see what it is.

I think it'll just be a 1st party surface team version of Xbox PC and a 3rd party version will be the OEM ones. I'm open to seeing it. Series X is slim and quiet and has quick resume. It also might have some AI shit in the 1st party one.

"Microsoft trying to replace as many employees as possible with AI"

Yeah that's definitely a no shit moment. They didn't invest $80 billion in AI to just keep their human staff.

The real question is, when they do start leaning heavily into generative AI content, how much stolen artwork will end up in these games?

Before that, they will lose a lot of Key talent.

Tbh I think that's going to happen quickly. If you weren't a part of today's layoffs, do you feel comfortable? You probably shouldn't considering how frequently this is happening. I bet we see a major talent exodus sooner rather than later.

absolutely, more artistc oriented devs will find offensive to even work for Xbox/MS.

Agreed.

If you're working at a place and the slash a few dozen, it's "Thank God it wasn't me."

If they slash as much as Microsoft is cutting AND canceling projects outright, it's "Next time it WILL be me, and I better start looking around."

Right. Like if I was there and didn't get the was my first thought would be "I'm going to start looking while I'm still getting paid."
