Xbox Series X | S Estimated to Have Sold 37 million units (may be < 30m)

From July 2023 to December 2024, XBS sold through 5.3M in just the US. XBS would be at, bare minimum, +26.4M without any other regions sales data for that same time frame.
Hasn't the XBox consistently been around 2/3 of sales in US for like... 12 years or so now, so we have a pretty good 'max' estimate too?
With above, if that'd put them around 30M (to be generous) in December 24, I'd find the 37M wholly unbelievable right now too. Hell 7M even for the whole year sounds quite high in 25.

We don't even AI to tell us this isn't a hard fact. Only MS knows the factual numbers so anything outside of MS revealing them amounts to nothing more than guesstimates and assumptions.
Not really - the number would be good enough for the purpose, assuming the other numbers can be corroborated as facts for chips used from a factual production number, then the algebra will hold to give a factual upper limit that can be shipped by Xbox - assuming we ignore the amount of chips used for the Xbox series X server blades for cloud that weren't in shippable products.

The number will also be generous to Xbox because every shipped unit will be treated as sold even though you would expect at least a couple of million in sales channels for it to be available over the counter at least in the US.

Doesn't really apply to my point

I really don't follow that stuff closely, nor the social media stuff a lot of you do. I can admit that this has been my favorite Microsoft console to date, although I did not have an xbox last gen because it was so bad, but I did own the 360 and OG XBOX. All that other stuff childish does not make me dislike the UI or performance of the Series X or the amazing time I have had with 1st party games.

I don't remember another generation where so many grown men argued over which console was better. They all have theirs strengths and weaknesses.
Well I'll summarize for you (and this is very accurate, not exagerated or whatsoever). For the last 11 years, every year we had "next year will be big for Xbox" and it never really happens. And then you have Windowscentral articles saying Xbox's future is bright/brighter than ever every year, you have Destin putting on his Youtube channel contradictory stuff all the time ("the plan was always to put Bethesda games exclusives" pivoted to "I don't see any problem Bethesda games being multiplat"), depending on what Microsoft says, you have people like Parris saying everything Xbox is doing is future-proof and that they will lead the way (Game Pass, or more recently the Asus handheld).

Then when the PR doesn't quite match reality, they pivot and then they blame you for console warring. Microsoft "doesn't care about the hardware sales, they are beyond that" was very happy to report how fast the Series X/S was selling compared to Xbox One. And when that didn't last, all the online people went back to "they don't care about the hardware sales, they aim for the 1 billion players on PC and Cloud". The reality is that Microsoft (or at least Xbox) is very Xbox hardware-dependant, as pretty much all Game Pass users are on console. They keep saying "game pass is growing" "game pass is bigger than ever" but they give 25 million subscribers in early 2022 excluding Live (renamed Core) users, then 34 million users last year including Live (now GP Core) users. They buy studios for more than 80 billion $, they close some of them, they cancel projets, but they say "Game Pass isn't the problem, it is profitable". And when people are arguing the math isn't mathing, they are being called haters.

So not really people hating the console, more like people hating that one of the biggest company in the world cannot look back to their mistakes and learn from them, rather keep changing what doesn't work until something sticks on the wall. And of course putting all your new 60/70/80$ games into a subscription service that people barely pays anything for it would stick on the wall, but at what cost ?

We have a recent example of a company launching a product poorly received and sold, learning from their mistakes, and turning things around to become extremely successful (aka Nintendo, and in some extent, Sony during the PS3 era). I believe everybody want Microsoft to do the same, but they don't.

Below 30M wouldn't be surprising.
They sold 2M worldwide last year and this year will be a lot less than that.

You are forgetting their new revolutionary strategy of buying studios and gifting every employee a Xbox.
This greatly increases the numbers (I'm sure their creative accounting found ways to register it as sales).

No significant physical revisions but they've reduced chip size over the year(s) which usually results in cheaper price per unit.

And if you take Kepler on his word, he said the same earlier in this thread:
Sure, but I doubt just a die shrink would be enough, they haven revised the cooling or any other components. My Series X is way more heavy than my PS5 Pro.

And yeah, it's a bit cheaper and they increased prices, but how much is the profit? And is it really profitable when you're selling almost nothing?

Welfare himself said Xbox series is at around 17m in the US. How then is 37m even possible worldwide? Xbox has barely sold anything in Japan and Europe, so where the heck is he getting that 20m from outside the US to get 37m worldwide? Just admit that you got it wrong!

I expect the answer to be something like: "the population of Liechtenstein is composed of 99.9% hardcore Xbox fans and every citizen has one or two in every division of their houses."

Edit: I checked the numbers we know based on estimates.

USA - 17m
EU - 8.5m
UK - 2.5m

TOTAL of these 3 is 28m.

Which means South America + Africa (continent) + Australia + Asia need to be 9m.

I've seen estimates of 33m global sales, since Asia is max 0.5m, that would put South America + Africa + Australia at 4.5m, that seems a bit more realistic.

Yep. And he is not answering any of these questions when asked. This is such weird behavior.

Eles nem estão

They aren't even at 30M
The major sales forecasting sites I know put the Xbox Series sales at over 30 million. Last year's Take-Two estimates also put the Xbox Series sales at close to 30 million. I believe the current Xbox Series sales are closer to 35 million than 29. Do you have any sources for this? I think it's important for you to address this, as some websites are already publishing articles based on your statement.

Read his posts. He has already explained his reasoning.

Lmfao dormant account that woke up from slumber to astroturf.

Microsoft should be firing you retards before they even look at devs.

What a disgrace.

I loved the 360 era

The (main) estimation sites already put the Xbox Series at over 30 million.

Looks like by holidays/end of 2025 aka 5 years after current gen console launch we will reach 3:1 worldwide units ratio in favour or ps5, thats not just a victory, thats a decimation.

Oh Jesus, a bot.

Just when Sony is fucking up at max Xbox slides in for the loss. Sony is going full normie but instead of reading about that I spend the weekend reading about how Xbox series hasn't crossed 30m.

Sony is too boring to even talk about now...
Xbox however keeps giving us these enjoyable moments (more their fanboys than Xbox itself).
