FYI, this is not a new game, this is a Wii Up-port.

That version was never released in the US, back in the day. Only EU and JP.

I played it on the Original Xbox and really loved it. I always looked forward to the Wii release, but it never came to America.

Looks like the Wii version with remastered character models, looks cleaner.

Please release on other platforms too.

Love the PS2 version, but was not a fan of the Wii game. The original camera perspective worked far better than the one from 4 used on the Wii remake.

A damn shame we don't have simple remasters of the original 3 games on modern platforms. I wouldn't even mess with them outside of maybe higher resolution textures and a JPN VO track.

Should be 1-3, releasing 2 makes me think they might skip 1&3

This is a true remake, or something like ng2 black. char models got SSS, environment has revamped texture with normal map and soft shadow is added. Way beyond the scope of the remaster of 4. More technology advance than any entry in the franchise.

Cool was wondering why they Remaking 2 but it technically a Remaster

Looks way better than the Wii version, not just higher resolution and some textures here and there for sure (go watch Dolphin footage of it or something). Character rendering at least seems completely redone. Didn't see much gameplay but overall motion/movement seemed less clunky too.

Remake quality looks very high.

I'll go with PS5, it's the best platform for these games. Best visual quality plus can use the motion controls for the camera.

Never played these games, but my cereal friend loves them. I'll probably give this one a try. Do I need to have played the first game, or can I jump straight into this one?

You can. The story is not related to the first one.

Also, at least for me, this is the best way to start with the franchise.

So with Fatal Frame back into the spotlight, we still have one final franchise left to fully complete the classic horror franchise revival fiesta:

Sony, you dumbfucks, do it already!

The only non-remake triple A survival horror games out of RE in this decade are still Callisto Protocol and Alan Wake 2, yay (well, "Silent Hill" F is coming) . And meanwhile the original game, you know, the praised original work with the classic semifixed camera, will be still only on ps2 and xbox unless you use emulator. And of course, they began with the easiest entry to remake.

Not buying until I've thoroughly checked the social media of everyone connected to it, developers, interns, voice actors, even the guy who once delivered pizza to their office.

I need to know their political and religious beliefs before I give them my hard-earned money. I don't want to risk supporting someone who stands against everything I remotely support or believe in.

Can't be too safe these days.

I continue to be so bummed that the rumor of Firesprite making a Siren game for PSVR2 never panned out. If there's one game that would be perfect for VR, it's that.

Technically, a remaster of a remake.

According to Tecmo KOEI, this seems to be more than just a remaster, going for the full-blown remake route:

This title has undergone a complete overhaul, with improvements to everything from visuals and audio to the core gameplay systems and controls. The signature Camera Obscura mechanic, used to capture and fend off spirits, remains a key feature, now offering richer and more engaging gameplay in both exploration and combat.

In addition, the new "Holding Hands with Mayu" mechanic adds a heartfelt touch, letting you experience the deep bond between the sisters like never before.

Nice surprise. Hopefully the developers improve the the camera obscura's film type capabilities with more in-depth customization and effects. The game's combat encounters themselves will definitely benefit from a REmake2 style refresh, its sales too. Adding something as simple as a well-timed side step maneuver(RE3) and camera snap counter-move mechanic would spice things up a bit without veering into action game territory.

Oh nice, it looks like a decent visual overhaul, like the recent Virtuos games, new coat of graphics running over the old game.

I guess I'm gonna have to import this one again like the previous ones.
