Microsoft revamps Xbox Game Pass plans and hikes Ultimate to $29.99 a month, Ultimate gets Ubisoft+ Classics and more

Thank our Lord Gaben for that. If pc gaming is a clusterfuck ms would no doubt go full retard on pc gamepass as well. Only a matter of time though.

Too expensive now $360 for the year and you don't own the games it might still be ok if you can still do the vpn cheaper country trick don't if that's still possible though

Remember when everyone said that Game Pass was the future and Sony would need to put day one games on PS+ to compete?

It didn't quite turn out like that, this is PS+ with a very expensive day one tier. Sony won.

Well I'm paid up through 2028, but $30 is pretty insane. Not sure what I'll do in 3 years when that comes up.

I definitely don't think adding old Ubisoft and WB games is worth making it $30. It's $120 more a year. If the rewards program is somehow adding more, then they could offset some of it but it's not clear what they're doing there.

I don't know man, pretty bad news. I could see myself dropping down to a lower tier and just playing the games later, or canceling it in 3 years.

And they want to make an accessible pre build PC with an Xbox badge in a few years. Yeah... good luck with that.

Absolutely zero reason for most people to even touch them, just like there is less reasons by the day to touch Series consoles.

If you want to actually be a decent alternative to Valve on PC, this is not the way to go. You need something to actually be competitive, and they don't have it, at all.

This division of MS is absolutely fucked, and don't they know it.

Just bail out of this GP bullshit, hardware, and publish some bloody games in full force you fools.

I think this is the end of Xbox. The only reason for so many people to stick with Xbox was Gamepass, the best deal in gaming (because it had been so easy to hack the system and pay much less than the official price), and now even those people are saying "Fuck it, I'm gone".

Basically on GP Ultimate , they're including more things (Ubisoft+, Xcloud 1440p, a larger number of day-one games beyond first-party titles, and benefits for F2P games) at the cost of raising the price by 50%.

It depends on each person whether it's convenient or not.

Personally, I think there's a need for a middle ground where a certain number of day-one games are released and EAplay-Ubi+ isn't included.

Are you perhaps turning into a gamepass hater yourself? Man, that didn't even take two hours.

I expect Gamepass haters to really ramp up the effort in October.

6 day 1 games so far, including Ninja Gaiden 4, Outer Worlds 2 and Keeper. The best place to play video games in October is on Gamepass, literally.

They just killed PC Game Pass. MASSIVE downgrade for that version.

Otherwise, none of this is surprising. They're finally trying to make this service financially sustainable; no more free rides. I gotta check in on ResetERA, make sure I catch all the crash outs over the news 😁

End of an era.

There will be nothing like gamepass in its prime.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Just Got Its Biggest Upgrade Yet

how is raising the price this drastically and only including the ubi tier nobody cares about and some fortnite garbage an upgrade? This is a pure downgrade across the board.

So day one releases are now behind a paywall of...almost half the price of a fully priced game each month? Jesus...

Also, join the fact two out of three Gamepass tiers don't have the main selling point of that subscription service...and the fact that the only tier that has day one games got a price bump is very telling on what's really happening with these day one releases.

What i would give to see those Gamepass subscribers in terms of numbers.

edit: Biggest irony on this? Gamepass now costs...360 bucks a year. Xbox $360 is alive!
the $30 tier doesn't make any sense.

I played the last COD for a few months and didn't even like the game, buying it is cheaper than subscribing to this.

it's not going to be $30 in 2028 lol.

Enshittification in action.

These companies will never learn when consumers don't vote with their wallet and tell them where and how to fuck right off the end of the table when they offer a service into the market and then proceed to take value away from it unless you pay more money.

This is textbox racketeering business practice and these companies should be made to learn that the market won't tolerate their bullshit.

Ultimate now gets Cloud gaming with reduced wait times (lol), Hogwarts ($20 game to own), a bunch of old Assassins Creed games (the best are on sale for $10).

Put a fork in it, it's done

$30 a month?!?!?! ha!

MS is really just trying to see how stupid their remaining fanbase is. Hike the console prices twice within 6 months, come out with a handheld at $999 that's worse than the other handheld at $999, bring $80 games next year since people wouldn't do it for Outer Worlds 2. Now hike the hell out of GamePass and screw those PC GamePass subs that we use to tout as the fastest growing.

You were right ;)

Gaming subscriptions on PS and Xbox have shown a remarkable ability to retain existing users and even getting some new users even though the prices are constantly increased. I think really only Nintendo's NSO would collapse from a price increase due to the much fewer users engaging with online play on Nintendo consoles. So i don't think they will lose that many gamepass users on consoles from this price increase, PC gamepass users will be harder to retain, because on this price it makes more sense for them to just buy everything at steep sales on Steam instead.

I think they realized Day 1 was a mistake.

This is correcting that.
it's almost like the stuff dorks like us have been saying for years... it is unsustainable and doesn't make any sense. Especially when you are spending $250 million to make a game, giving it away for $10 is crazy.

If we know it, they know it, and they can't justify it to the money guys anymore.

This is obviously the stop gap to removing PC game pass entirely. Going from $12 to $30 in one leap was obviously not going to work - I imagine that the price will keep creeping up until it the last price increase is just removing PC game pass.

LMAO time to cancel my pc game pass i aint gonna pay 30 for this. They will lose a lot of pc subs. When its going live? I wanted to play ninja gaiden and outer worlds 2, but if they want to charge 30 this month im out
