Oda in recent years has taken more time off recently due to health issues. Hope he takes it slowly and take care of himself.

His manga is one of the most important of all time, but he is dedicating his whole life to his work. Crazy commitment.

One Piece is about end but how big/long the last arc will be is in question. Currently in Elbaf - which is filling all the lore Pirate/world history! Then supposedly Lafftale at end of arc or last arc/war!

We really don't know how much he's written between now and the end.

The Anime has also been taking breaks too, to not catch up to Manga. Anime series the timeskip has stretched out the story arcs too. Fishman and Dressrosa suffered because of this.

I had dropped the anime in Dressrosa due to that. I'm not a weekly watcher since. I'll binge anime when it gets close to a climatic part!

But the recent Egghead is not bad with pacing but has done a great job expanding the story, especially the side story's.

Dude has been releasing chapters almost weekly for so long he deserves some rest, even beyond just a sick leave. Either way hopefully he makes a quick recovery.

Agreed. It has outlasted the rest, and I think it's about that time to call it and at least have the ending already written out in case of any emergencies.

It's much closer than that, currently in Elbaf and next island is Lafftale which is where One Piece is suppose to be located. Now the length of those story arc is the only unknown.

With what's being revealed currently! If ending is close, it'll feel rushed!

Marineford battle alone was maybe a couple hours but that took a year to finish!

Been very near the end for 15 years mate. We'll get commercial fusion power before he wraps this up.

These kinds of breaks are relatively common for Oda these days afaik. He's publicly stated his doctor has told him to not push himself so hard, but Oda insists.

Thankfully for his sake, we really are nearing the end, according to him anyway. This is the Final Saga, but who knows how long it will take to wrap up. If you told me 5 years, I'd believe you.

I'm fine with him taking time off from One Piece, his health is more important. I wish him a good recovery. I'm looking forward to what has planned next in the Elbaf story arc, so far him going into the past has been great
