Baldur's Gate III | OT | Bear in Mind, Your Choices Have Consequences

I loved the battles, especially sneaking your party into the best positions for a surprise attack. There were some bosses that went down without even getting a turn via that sort of tactic.

Reminds me I should play this again. I just hope my winning battle tactics haven't been patched out in the last couple of years.
I am loving the combat for this reason. Another small thing, but something I thought was very awesome. I ran into some Ogres. I convinced them to join me, and they can feast on all the bodies I left behind. They agreed and gave me a horn to call them into battle. Things like this are why I am loving the game.

There are so many things in this game that just happen, and you have to accept it. Like, in most games I want to see as much as I possbily can, and if I do something that locks out a cool thing later then I feel like I've missed out. But here, it's the essence of the game. You just play it, and if you mess up it only means the story has changed.

One character (Gale) abandoned me very early in my playthrough, and I see all these stories about how he's one of the key parts of the plot, but he wasn't even a factor in my game.

They seem to have thought of everything, so you might as well just continue, even if an important character is wiped out, or an alliance was formed/missed, as it's going to be great regardless. One of the best games ever, for that reason.

Right, went back for another go, cleared The Risen Road, saved the woman from the burning building then split up a fight between Shadowheart and Lae'zel then managed to avoid a fight with Lae'zel's kin
Now can take the mountain pass but I'm warned my Level is too low, I'm Level 4 but can level up now to Level 5. Maybe I should visit the Underdark...
My party is Dark Urge, Lae'Zel, Shadowheart and Karlach.

I'd like to keep going but make combat as quick and easy as possible and enjoy the story, any tips on party members, spells etc? I think I can respect now.
I don't usually care much about romance in games but I've now kissed Shadowheart but Lae'zel wants to bone, this will be tricky.....

It was bothering me that I lost my eye to the hag so I went back to an earlier save, 6 hours later, I'm almost back where I was with my eye intact :)
Seems to have its hooks in me now.
However, I can't be arsed with Gale, his constant begging for a fix does my head in, I he worth bothering with?

hmm

I dont know, because I killed him early on as soon as I had the chance lmao

The thing about this game is, characeters are often meant to be annoying and shit to tempty you into just killing them and seeing what unfolds. A few times I decided I didn't like the face of a friendly NPC and just slaughtered them for it to lead to really interesting content and even a few side quests. There is so much in this game to discover and it often rewards you for being a cunt.

Haha.
The thing is, I'm playing as The Dark Urge, but being good so far.
There is the temptation to go bad and be the perfect killing machine couple with Lae'Zel, :)

I haven't done a full dark urge playthrough yet, still in the midst of my second good lad help everyone run, but in my first playthrough I absolutely slaughtered everyone except shadowheart and the druid.

I am about 40 hours in and still in Act 1. Been exploring the Under Dark and that place is rad. Had fun strategizing my way around the arcane turrets and the corresponding tower to power them down.

I am still running with Shadowheart, Gale, and Karlach. I gave Karlach the Masterworks Greatsword I made from that quest. She hits like a train. I have her to a point where she gets several attacks a turn. I am ready to ditch Gale. Just not sure for whom yet.

is the fight with the old hag supposed to be as difficult as it is at her house? I somehow completely missed this entire encounter on my first playthrough and shes fucking my party hard without lube

Hag is one of the harder fights in Act 1. There are spells like magic missile where you can target all of her clones at once and eliminate them all and find her quick. Also I think she is susceptible to silence effects. Since she starts the battle way far away, you can initiate with one party member and the rest stealthed a little ways away (shadowhearts stealth aura), and then sneak them up to her so 3 of the party start very close to her.

If she is too hard, just do more stuff in Act 1 and come back when you gain a level. The power spikes from 4 to 5 are huge, and 5 to 6 is almost as big.

I struggled hugely and gave up, the only thing I saw that helped was using the missile thingy to hit all 3 versions of her. My problem was getting to her without being burned to fuck.

Yeah I was in the same boat. I had mostly melee combat party so wasnt able to get near her without dying to all the shit the pulls.

Crazy I've played through Act 1 twice and I have no idea who that is. Feels like I'm always saying that with this game.

I am still in the Underdark, about to cross the lake. Ran into some very cool things down there. My Drow Bard also has a very cool sword now. This game just keeps on giving.

Had this since day one, finally got around to giving it a proper go last night..

Holy shit..

I never properly knew

Killed off one of the three Goblin leaders, the other two kept kicking my arse. So I bogged off for a bit, found three ogres eating arms in a building, managed to persuade them I'd give them a thousand gold if they fought for us

Those Goblin knobs are gonna git it!

..I love this game :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Kick that Goblin arse!
Is there any way, any!! Where you don't have to fight the other two?

I was hoping there was another way, maybe lure them off to rooms or something but it seems I've hit a point where fighting is the only option

If I take Halsin from the other room he just turns into bear form and wants to rip it up straight away..

If I remember right, bringing Halsin along for that means combat is going to kick off on sight whereas if you tell him to hang back you can still be a bit more sneaky with things.

I don't think so, once I killed Priestess Gut, the others were hostile.
I only knocked Minthara out though as I read you can recruit her later if not dead and you still complete the quest.

Yeah that's what I had to end up doing. At the moment, and without him, I can still converse with the other two. And the female one (can't remember her name) wants me to launch an attack on the Grove.

I did take him in last night and two of my party got pushed into the spider pit during the fight, it got a bit crazy..

Ah that's where mine differed, I managed to get her off to her side room as she 'wanted' to cure us (She didn't, it was a trick)

It didn't end well for her and because it was out of sight, the other two were still fine..

It seems this game has so many variables, I love that 👀

Yep, In a temp save I got tricked by her then rescued, think that was a cooler direction tbh.

I thought this was a pretty poorly designed quest.

There should've been a way turn them onto each other. Also, a possibility to take out just the leaders.

Killing an entire goblin community just to be able save a handful of humans, felt very counter productive.

It is a bit of a downer if this is the only way. I was thinking I'd just locked myself into a corner, but if there's no other way.. that is a bit of a let down

Yeah I think on my next run I'll be joining them destroy the Grove :messenger_tears_of_joy:

There are some other methods. But extremely hard to find without following guides.

I did spent a ton of time trying to figure out some other solution, but couldn't, in normal gameplay.
