Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Switch 2 vs Wii Direct Comparison

completed both now and they hold up

Galaxy 1 is great but feels a tad dated and has a few boring levels imo. Too much pointer stuff too

Galaxy 2 though - feels totally modern and is just a perfectly designed game. Just amazing and plays great and looks great on S2.
It was like 1 was the prototype for 2.

I would go for it, incidentally it's the one I care more about the motion control, but I'm sure the gyro is good enough. Would suck in handheld mode though.
The way they implemented motion aiming for handheld is great....you just have to deal with seeing a cursor on screen all the time. You tap the R button, it brings up the cursor, then you tilt the Switch to control the cursor. It has perfect accuracy too.

I never played the original so I don't know if the cursor was a thing there

The cursor appeared when the remote was pointed at the screen in the OG

LOAD TIMES?
We can compare oranges to oranges and it's possible that the new one is faster.
Load times are as fast as the game allows it to be and unfortunately there are a lot of loading pauses the game needs to load data (selecting the galaxy, selecting the star, starting / loading the level, flying from section to section inside a level [clever trick for Wii HW to maximise the detail in each section], etc…).

It is the only aspect that makes the game feel dated. Lots of unskippable moments / time wasters.
