Amazon is offering a bundle that includes an Xbox Wireless Controller and an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, as well as a single month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, for $90.18 - a price cut of almost $45.

One thing's for sure: It's an awful lot cheaper than the Xbox consoles now that a price hike has taken hold (the second this year), although the tradeoff is that you'll need some pretty great Wi-Fi speeds to handle playing games via the cloud.

you need great wifi speeds for cloud gaming? nonsense unless you think 30Mb is fast

bigger question is what quality of cloud does the firestick get, 1080p or 1440p?

Average gamers see this sort of thing and go wow so I dont need a console? Just my Samsung TV? Then they try it...

Over the years selling literally thousands of TVs I think maybe a half a dozen people told me they use GamePass as their main way to play games, maybe not even that many.

Its not just them failing to mention it either, I didn't work for Samsung, so part of my job was to make sure they werent going to miss any things that were exclusive to Samsung's OS when they came over to my brand.

Cynically speaking it was to avoid them coming back to shout at me or the store over lost functionality in their new product.

When asked what my brand lacks over Samsung 100+ times I said well I dont have XGP/xCloud on my brand/OS, how often do you use that on your Samsung TV?

The amount of blank stares I would get or they'd say no no I have an Xbox (or other console) and maybe, very occasionally, they'd say they used XGP streaming but only really on their mobile/PC-like handheld or once when the wife was away and they realised they could stay in bed and play on their secondary TV that doesn't have the console attached.

I'm not sure how the processing power/performance of a standard 4K Firestick stacks up with a high end TV that runs the latest Samsung/LG/Mediatek chipset, I know its better than the lower end chips in the entry/mid level TVs at least since people use it as an escape from their poor (app) performance.

I have a Samsung NeoQled, ready to use for streaming on Xbox... I've never used it in my life, it doesn't appeal to me like that, I prefer the traditional way.

Last time i checked a Amazon Firestick 4k was a piece of shit to play 4k movies! Jesus H Christ, that UI was slow....

They really, really, really need to get the hell away from the insulated little tech hubs and the people that populate them. It's the only way for them to get back in touch with their audience.

Sorry not sorry, but "let's target the types of people who don't care about graphics and framerate, but will spend at least 30 per month to rent games" sounds more like liquid farts splattering the sides of a Starbucks toilet than common sense.

To be honest, I hope this does not succeed because this will really kill the gaming industry especially on quality, innovation, gaming development, and income for game developers.

Most things Microsoft has attempted have never been in the benefit of the gamer or industry. They don't care or even try to mask it anymore.

Great deal but posting this in a hardcore gaming forum not really the target audience for this. Just for the controller and the fire stick it's incredible value without a month of Gamepass.

The problem is you realistically have to play with wifi connection, which is not ideal. That and hope that you are close enough to a server and have a really good upload speed at home.

It's literally got a month free, what would you call that?
And not three like the user I replied to suggested, because they're only doing the bare minimum as they're tightening the belt, closing all loopholes and increasing prices across the board. You're very easily agitated these days, I wonder why.
