I didn't expect it to be lower than avowed. Hopefully the budget wasn't significantly higher than avowed.
True. For some reason I thought avowed was on PS5 but it's not. I'm hoping we can get another proper pillars of eternity from obsidian some time soon.Avowed was on less platforms, Xbox and PC only.
This is also on PS5 which is probably where a sizable portion of the audience is checking out, on top of it being on Game Pass.
This isn't that bad for a single player game in advanced access. This is for the $100 big baller version so please understand. It's possible this hits a new high today but it won't be by much. Stay tuned to find out. The full release is October 29.

For comparison, here is Avowed's all-time peak during its Advanced Access period.

Sorry Topher but I think that's wrong. Go check the numbers for games like Dragon's Dogma 2, Baldur's Gate III, M&B II Bannerlord, Manor Lords, Kingdom Come II or basically any big release. Single-player games can do great on PC.Strictly single player games typically don't do huge numbers on Steam
Uninteresting looking games with low general hype that are also on gamepass don't do huge numbers on SteamStrictly single player games typically don't do huge numbers on Steam

Has nothing to do with being singleplayer or not

Eh, I don't agree with that. Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy, Black Myth Wukong, Starfield, Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Clair Obscur, Stellar Blade, and then you have primarily single player games like Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, and others. There are also AA games like Metaphor Refantazio that have done fairly solid numbers.
This is just in recent memory. AAA single player games can and do often do huge numbers on Steam.
Read the thread. We've posted tons of recently released single-player games that've done way better.normal games are becoming less popular
I'm not sure what you're refuting here. Yeah, multiplayer games are bigger on Steam (and everywhere else). I disagree with your assertion that single player games typically don't do well on Steam. Within the context of this discussion, The Outer Worlds 2, it isn't just some small no-name game made by an unknown indie studio. It's ostensibly a AAA game that had a fair amount of marketing, but is hitting nowhere near the number of more modest releases such as Metaphor ReFantazio.Yeah, but it has to be a heavy hitter like those are for a single player to register whereas even a small coop game like "RV there yet" (just picked it from the trending list) is doing 100k numbers.

Following trends it will be 50%- 70% more. So 15-17k after release. Still not particulary much.
I expect a significant bump at full release and maybe another at the first big sale price. This is a wait for sale game for me at least.
Black Myth Wukong did 2.4M CCU. In fact it has more people playing it now than this new release. Same with Silksong at 587K.Strictly single player games typically don't do huge numbers on Steam

Again, I cannot agree with the notion that single player games don't usually sell on Steam, especially as of late where we have seen a boom in their popularity.
Do we have steam numbers of other day 1 gamepass games?, I just remember Wuchang which peaked at 131k.

Except those aren't exceptions. Single player games doing big numbers on Steam isn't rare or uncommon. We need to wait for the full release, but I just don't think The Outer Worlds 2 will do especially good numbers.Wasn't refuting anything. I was pointing out that there are certainly exceptions. Eh....didn't think this was going to be a controversial statement. Not a position I'm married to so if people disagree then that's fine. Not that big a deal my man

Heck there are more people playing this 6 month old single player JRPG right now than OW2. And it peaked at 145K

That seems really bad. First game was EGS exclusive at launch and didn't come to Steam until a year later, and still managed over 20K
yeah but they will be the main adults playing video games one day.Read the thread. We've posted tons of recently released single-player games that've done way better.
Kids aren't the main audience for those games. And there's tons of non-kids people playing videogames nowadays.

I don't think it'll even sniff those numbers. I'm expecting 20-30K with the full release.Eh...not so sure, but that's fine. So what numbers should we expect a game like OW2 to do on Steam? Metaphor did 85k so 100k for OW2?
Seems like a safe bet. Low 20s probably.I'm expecting 20-30K with the full release.

The game is not out yet. Why is people judging the numbers of the premium edition? Lol
Well...VTMB2 didn't do too shabby for what it is
Damn that's a scary thought.yeah but they will be the main adults playing video games one day.
Yeah I get that it hasn't peaked yet and will likely hit its all time peak next weekend. Still looks bad. Like Kacho showed, Avowed did 12K during its advanced access, and it peaked at 19K after that.Outer Worlds 2 doesn't release until the 29th, these are the early $100 premium edition numbers only.
Damn that's a scary thought.
They won't be allowed into my retirment home. Buncha PCs connected via LAN and a few Game Cubes connected to a big ass CRT.and they will be visiting there old parents in retirement homes covered in tattoos, nose rings, and blue hair sing cardi b songs.
.
Adding to Kacho's posts, here's the most recent one:Do we have steam numbers of other day 1 gamepass games?, I just remember Wuchang which peaked at 131k.

My b for forgetting that absolute behemothAdding to Kacho's posts, here's the most recent one:

In my book it's out but will get an early discount. Day one is when 'advanced access' starts imo - the rest is industry spin.Game is not even out yet. It's in early access locked behind 100 dollars.

People aren't ignoring this is the early access version, it is mentioned plenty of times here. Why are people ignoring the fact that this is for the 100 bucks early access version?
Also the first game hardly had a massive peak
Anyway i was very mixed on the first game but this sequel is way better in every way. Way less woke too.
Edit. Yeah first game had a 20k peak. The fact that this is only for the early access version i feel the peak when the game properly releases will be way higher.
