Welcome to the Arc Raiders NeoGaf OT!
What is Arc Raiders?
SCAVENGE, SURVIVE, THRIVE
In ARC Raiders, gameplay flows between the surface ruled by lethal machines, and the vibrant underground society of Speranza. Craft, repair, and upgrade your gear in the safety of your own workshop, before venturing topside to scavenge the remnants of a devastated but beautiful world. Play solo or in parties up to three, navigating the constant threat of ARC's machines and the unpredictable choices of fellow survivors. In the end, only you decide what kind of Raider you are - and how far you'll go to prevail.
Forget all that the legend that is
Arc Raiders is an SCM, (society changing machine).
Before you start screaming no, much like Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back when Vader told him to call him Daddy, just hear me out.
It will do this by forcing us as a society and as individuals to look at ourselves
in the mirror, examine ourselves and our actions and decisions not just in the game
but in every aspect of our lives.
This life, the real life is brutal enough as it is.
Do you want to take of advantage of opportunity to move yourself forward? Do you want to help someone who needs help when you can? Do you want to just be indifferent to others no matter theirs or your situation?
Do you want to be the person your decisions will inevitably turn you into?
As someone who has anger management issues this game is kind of forcing me to confront them.
Bill and Ted were right about seizmic societal change, they were just wrong about the agent that would bring it.
It's Arc Raiders.
ARC Raiders is available now with two editions available: Standard ($39.99) and Deluxe ($59.99), both including exclusive cosmetic bonuses.
- Arc Raiders will release on October 30, with the release time stated as 09:30 (UTC)
- The US West Coast launch time is 02:30 PDT, and the East Coast will be 05:30.
ARC Raiders takes place in a distant future on Earth where mysterious and deadly "ARC" robots have taken over the surface, forcing humanity to live underground. Some residents of the underground city Speranza, known as "raiders", choose to go above ground, also known as "the topside" to collect resources to sell.
Maps in Arc Raiders:
Explore four distinct maps at launch, with more to be revealed as the underground society evolves and expands its reach. Each destination carries the weight of a world twice-destroyed, and the scars of conflicts both old and new. Sift through the remnants for valuable loot, and piece together the past as it's slowly reclaimed by nature. Evolving map conditions ensure that no two runs are the same, with varying weather, enemies, and mechanics adding unpredictability and danger.
Dam Battlegrounds: The first map you unlock in ARC Raiders; containing a mix of swampy woodlands and abandoned apartments for you to explore.
Acerra Spaceport: A more industrial map, featuring plenty of buildings filled to the brim with old tech to be looted.
Buried City: A city left in ruin and covered in sand. You'll need to navigate the dunes in order to get into the many houses and buildings containing loot.
Blue Gate: The final map available in ARC Raiders at launch, set higher up in the mountains with old buildings and underground tunnels to get lost in.
Welcome to Speranza here is where you'll call home and find the traders:
Traders in Arc Raiders:
In Speranza, everyone has their own agenda. The traders are no different. Some still cling to the past, driven by a flicker of hope and a moral compass. Others have become hardened and self-serving.
For you, what matters is that the Traders keep you employed. They'll offer you quests to collect valuable supplies on the surface, and in return, you may slowly come to learn more about who they are, and what their vision for Speranza is.
