Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

Give it some time. Don't go to the highlighted areas at first, sure fire way of running into others. Pick some buildings out the outskirts to loot and get out.

Sneek around. With these games everything you do will make noise and attract either players, arc or both. If you spot someone and they don't spot you use your position and get the jump on them. Not many friendlys around just now because the game is new.
The game just launched. Everyone is in the dam.

When you hit level 3 the buried city unlocks.

That doesn't mean assholes can't just 24/7 the dam but I don't think you can keep getting the items you need to level at the dam nor will quests be there.

In a day or two the dam will be less chaotic but there's no reason a dick head can't camp elevators or hot loot spots. Check your map.

If you're patient go for the last elevator and wait until a minute or two is left. Most will be gone by then or dead.

Or find an elevator, wait for someone else to call it, then bang them.

If you're dying in the world before elevator, be mindful how much noise you make, mind doors are open or not, look for dead bodies etc.

AKA you must unretard yourself young chromosome infused son.

Yeah, I finally manage to extract, with some loot. I can reduce my bitching a bit now :messenger_grinning_smiling:

According to my introduction, it's a fucking cesspool of murder hobos.

I guess if I stick with it - I'll also become a murder hobo.
I had exactly this experienced and ended up purchasing a copy for a friend who had the game on his wishlist. It was that or refund the game before the 2h Steam refund window.

I just couldn't hack playing it solo.

Depends in the game but something like this usually in around 3 hours or so from now I'd guess. Saturdays and Sundays are usually the biggest days.

220k and rising, seems like a really decent result.
I've lost all fluids in me. I'm dehydrating every 5k ccu bump. I'm at a place where pleasure feels like torture.

If I die, I donate my reproductive system to the oil industry. Clarky, you are responsible for my posthumous nuts.

Did we just remake the story of Lonesome Dove?!

Crazy thing is, the experience of meeting randoms out in a post apocalyptic world and working together in PVE is exactly what I wanted out of Destiny (minus the space magic and guns).

I find that playing solo is my preferred playstyle, solo randoms seem less likely to engage in PVP. I've been spamming the "dont shoot" emote regularly to resounding success. Enjoying this way way way more than I anticipated.

Handy that because i work in oil and gas.

Fucking screaming joy!!!!

Robot banged my asshole. I'm down but I had already called elevator.

Figured I'd go crawl to it in case I live long enough it takes me out.

Guy comes to finish me off, mid animation he gets attacked by murder robot 9000!!!

He runs to the elevator and I'm crawling hoping he may hit the button. See he's down. Look at computer and see I can still call the elevator even when down!!!!!!!!

Last second clutch as rockets from murder robot come to finish me and the random off but we make it out. Trophy unlocked.

Total goose bumps. Core gaming memory unlocked.

This is quite reassuring as my group didn't find the game interesting at all and with that in mind I'd rather play solo than try to get them to play it. Might grab it later tonight on PS5, I'll see.

Looks cool and I want to play but it looks like there's 100 things to learn and it's just the last thing I want to do when I have a free moment to party up with my friends. How big is the barrier to entry here

Its really straightforward and streamlined experience. Also learning these new games are the most fun part

The potential for future updates in this game are crazy. Amazing new maps, items, weapons, new quests, community events, map conditions, insane new arc types and based on the finals, Embark is amazing at post launch support

Different "modes" can work too.

Small arena of 5v5s with cosmetics and loot for a quick way to amass items to go on runs. Pre set load outs with a few rounds.

Sky is the limit on how they take this.

They also don't need to balance items like a competitive PvP game. They can make OP gadgets and weapons and balance them through rarity and repair costs.

This genre is so f***ing cool.

Very first run, go into first building, dude hears me and tells me he's looting please don't shoot, so I go ok as long as you don't, so we both run around looting, I find a blue gun and a pink thingamajig so I'm like fuck this I'm out, go to the extract downstairs, somebody else called it and is hiding, it's swarming with those flying bots and one of those huge spider thingys, so I try to stay away from the person and the bots in the trees off to the side, I get swarmed by two flying thingys, barely and I mean barely kill them off without dying, I now have no ammo, I watch the guy that called the extract leave, so now I'm all alone with no ammo, I have to run to the extract, call the elevator, hide, then run my fucking ass off to get to the computer to leave, while being shot by like 5 robots. Idk if this game is good for my health.

This all the way, they have set a structure for this game that makes it have no limits!

Played for about 4 hours last night with two friends and had an absolute blast. Some raids we didn't even see another raider then others we were having mad shootouts and barely extracting. Another we left our run too late and were being chased by what felt like an Arc army and ran out of time 100m from extract. Loving it.

Just learned what hatches do! They let you exit without using elevator. Instantly leave map.

I'm rolling solo and having a blast. So many different experiences and emotions from game to game. Going to have to play with some squads as well.

I fucking love the rats in this game. Going to an extraction, calling the lift, hiding until it comes up. Seemingly no one is around, but then all of a sudden 3 other guy sprints in just in time to get the extract and using greet emote, hilarious.

Went to burried city, that map is intense af.

Again, I must insist you....

Had a couple of eventful and wholesome rounds, proving to me the game has some potential to be something else than a pvp psychopath simulator. Slowly getting into it now.

If you really want to have a blast, put the flute in your inventory.

Then find a place to hide near an extraction elevator start playing it, and tell everyone you play a mad skin flute.

The key this whole time was simply making the PvE-side an actual heavy threat/importance.

I hope that other devs who try this will take that lesson from this game. I think this can work for other I.P. especially traditional fantasy.

I teamed up with several people I met in the field, but it's so easy to lose sight of each other without shared map markers.

Fuck, this game sounds like a blast. At just 40 bucks it sounds like those kinds of purchases where you don't really think much about it and just go for it, so maybe in a couple of hr I'll join you lot, cheers

How's this for a solo-player? Also, how's the optimization on PC?

I might end up getting this lol, wouldn't mind trying some new (for me)
