Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

Ofcourse it does?
In what genre it is ok to have poor enemy variety?

I never heard anyone being ok with poor enemy variety no matter the genre, it's an universal flaw like lack of challenge or poor performances.

Are you ok with indoors only having the balls and spiders? answer sincerely, do you think it is ok that a large portion of the map where you pass a lot of time looting only has 2-3 enemies? and on top of that these enemies are super easy to beat unless you are terrible at videogames.

I'm not really asking for the moon here...

Once again its live service game, its been out for less than a week. They already showed they are adding two new enemies in the next two months.

They are surely working on more. If you get bored you can quit and come back later.

I think the current enemy variety is plenty

It seems 100% that is what they are building towards if you're paying attention to the story / lore / cut scenes you'll get as you do quests.

Something is coming for an event and it's going to get wild with arcs.

You can find arc robots that are humanoid and act like alarms in some buildings if you walk by them. Destroying the visor disables them.

Safe bet those will be at least one design in buildings that will come.

Also arcs come from the sky… which means what's up in space we have to worry about.
They need a melee bot that slowly chases you (slightly faster than walk speed) that forces you to...

- Mag dump into a front facing shield.
- Get teammates to shoot the weakpoint in the back.
- Run far away to shake the scent.

Call it the Bloodhound. That kind of "slow impact" ARC would add to the funny emergent moment this game excells at.

I hope at some point in the future they can expand speranza into a real social space instead of menus. That would be cool af
Now this is the kind of feedback I can get behind. Give me a Destiny social hub. Fuck yeah.

GymWolf GymWolf yes the game can use more enemy types. Yes we will get them in the future. No it isn't realistic to expect this game to be something it didn't state it was going to be.

I'm just trying to save you disappointment. If you really think this game should focus more on the pve side, I think you'll be upset.

I get where you're coming from but this game is clearly meant to be PvP first. That's the hook that can keep players coming back over and over. Otherwise they'd need to build another game entirely, and that game exists, it's called Destiny.

Once you get the last stash upgrade you dont need the money anymore for upgrading so you can buy stuff, like a hullcracker. That shit is so good againts big arcs. You can easily kill bastions, leapers etc.

How high does it go? Last upgrade I did was 130,000? Next one is even more money. I'm broke bitch!

Last one is 200k. I got it last night. 200k isn't that much really when most single blue items sell for 1k each.
My brother in Christ I'm spending all of my shit.

Items for expedition
Items to upgrade my work stations
Items to upgrade and repair guns
Crafting gear
Items for quests

I'm at the point where my inventory is shit I need now or I know I'll need. Granted I'm not struggling with inventory space currently but that is easily an issue if I do a few free loadout runs.

The only thing I've spent any money on was the stash.

Hoping the bonus stash space from doing the expedition is good.

What's this about an expedition and running out of time? I haven't really read too much about the game since starting it and have just been figuring out stuff for myself.

Also, how are people already earning enough cash to spend 200k on storage expansion? I'm like on my fifth one or something like that, but I haven't spent more than 25k yet.

Is this because I only play for an hour or so in the evenings? How many hours per day do I need to be getting on just to keep up?

Just play at your own pace. This game has no mandatory wipes so no rush

The free loadout is brilliant. Go in with nothing, and when a rat shoots you in the back, you basically lose nothing. It's the only thing that makes me stay now that my honeymoon is over. More and more stuff is starting to annoy me now.

Edit: Yes, I've met a cheater, and a few more that I suspect were. Without a PvE mode, this game won't survive when cheaters inevitably swarm in. It's just too popular for that not to happen.

So that everyone knows, I am taking one for the team and putting all points in Survival so I can breach Security Lockers. I am about 16 levels away from completing this task. I will let everyone know if it was worth it.
Seen a few YouTubers pick this up. The loot is pretty great; almost always at least one purple weapon but can have multiple, lots of high end crafting components too.

Night time mode gets so intense.

Had a nice solo loot run with a key and was heading to the exfil when a bombardeer blocked my path. Ran inside a bunker surrounder by even more arcs, had a player die outside and I told him to come inside but I forgot to bring a defib in but I used a bandage to stop his bleeding.

He died and I managed to save myself, shit was cinema.

I like that format lol I'm still on the fence cause this could be yesterday's news in a week or two. I'm still skeptical. I would want to play it on the Steam Deck, which I heard it runs great on.
Players will naturally drop off over time but they have a big enough base here for this to be around for a long time. Unless they massively fumble things, which I don't see happening.

Cool. Definitely helped me solidify my choice. I'll probably get it on Friday. Thanks!

Some people have no survival instincts whatsoever it's hilarious. On a solo run and I saw a guy just brazenly breaching a fucking car trunk literally 3 feet away from a bombradier and 2-3 drones. My guy went down in about 0.5 seconds, leaving a ton of decent loot for me to scavange after the bots moved away.

He wasn't new to the game either based on the loot dropped. Just ???

I do enjoy watching people perish and then moving in for the free loot afterwards.

I just unlocked expeditions last night but i had to sleep, what are these??

And what are those events that people speak about?

Expeditions are a longer term grind for the dedicated folks. Its optional. Think of it like the prestige system. If you hit max level and have achieved everything else worry about it then, or you can chip away it along the way.

Explained here:

They have another seperate grinding system called Trials. You basically compete against a random group of 100 players via leaderboard every week.

I could see myself doing this a few times if / when the rewards are good enough. Embark built this game with some meaty hooks gosh darn it.

How are you finding the game? Managed to put any decent amount of time into it yet?

This must be my personal favourite experience in the last ten years.
The entire world just comes together to offer something that I just love.
Embark have created something special here.
With the popularity and obviously extra funds I'd like them to tweak the maps and change up some of the copy and paste models like the white Honda lookalike.

If you look at the maps it seems like they are built to be extended at some point.

I still think the nuts and bolts thrill of Helldivers 2 is on another level in loose association terms, and I'll always wonder what could have been had Arrowhead included a PvEvP aspect to their game. Its player physics and aiming are pretty much ideal for true competitive extraction gameplay, but the undertaking now would be massive (and not lore compatible, for folks that give a crap).

Arc Raiders has much more suitable maps, though.
