Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 edition trailer (Nov 4)

The whole desert section and the motorcycle look awful and are unnecessary in the game.

Any more talk about the Switch 2 version playing in handheld mode? I'm curious if the 120fps performance mode is still a thing. It would be my first experience with anything over 60fps.

There is however a fine line between opinions, and just pure trolling from some on here.

Apparently not when it comes to Nintendo threads, there's literally zero discussion to be had with the usual people.

it said in the reveal trailer that it has a 720p 120fps mode in handheld.

Looks interesting. Not enough to get me to grab a Switch 2. Looks like this game has been through development hell. I will wait to see reviews and impressions.

Once again fools from other realms attempt to sour the greatness we have witnessed.

I'll try it. Knowing me, id prefer native 1080p at 60 though.

120fps on a screen with such a slow pixel response time isn't the best way to experience 120fps.

120fps really comes to live on a screen with really fast pixel response, like a good TN monitor or a good OLED screen.

and also the smaller the screen, the less impactful the difference is.

so I'd chose 1080p 60fps as well on handheld.
I'll probably play 120fps on my TV tho.

Ehh. My tv is mid, and can't do 120fps or HDR.

Looks so bland, the animation is the worst, fucking Nintendo needs to get up to speed with animation technology because it looks fucking old, motion matching for the enemies, after this game I will sell the fucking SW2. The motorbike looks so out of place. They need tp add a fucking story or plot to these games, because it's boring to read what Samus Scans all the time.

My trailer analysis shows that we have

Forest Biome
Lightning Biome
Fire Biome(The big metal structure looks like an Elevator Shaft so this is likely underground or inside a Cave system)
Desert Biome(previous information has said the Desert is crossed to travel to any of the 3 main areas)
Snow/Ice Biome

Certain enemies have liquid trails to help with navigation or to track them. In this case a Bug Creature. Either this has a Item Upgrade or is part of Viewros ecosystem.

Psionic powers allow you to grapple objects/open doors and reveal invisible platforms.

New enemy types and encounters have cinematics to accompany them such as the Ice Wolves, Forest Alien thing and Robots.

Morph Ball can be used tactically to avoid attacks and switching from and to Morph Ball Mode carries Samus's current momentum both forward and backward.

Some enemies can deflect or negate your Missile attacks.

That's all I can glean here.

It will move a cool million by the end of January.

Nintendo out here as the only actual video game publisher with hardware, content, and profit margins.

Microsoft is still waiting for dev kits or we would have seen that switch 2 logo on their Halo announcement…

People have been waiting for this game for nearly 6 years....and you think it will only muster 1 million sales (on 2 consoles) in 2 months?

Surely you jest.

As a huge Metroid fan, I'm cautiously optimistic about Prime 4. Everything in the trailers looks solid, just nothing that really blew me away yet. I'm hoping the bike section actually fits into the game's world and isn't just a random "cool moment." I still trust Retro, they've earned that, but I'm keeping my hype in check for now.

Looks great but I ain't buying a switch to play this.

Shame

There are other ways to play. And we're just getting started on resolving the problems that exist. It won't be long and we're playing these games at higher resolutions.

I've waited for this game for so long. I can't say the trailers look incredible, but it feels like they're holding back quite a lot. At least I hope so.

I just watched all of the original trailers for Prime 1, 2, and 3, and they all felt more energetic and interesting than any of the Prime 4 trailers so far. (Even though 3 had a bunch of Wii waggle intercuts.)

I think one of the things throwing me is that almost all of the footage we've seen so far have shown these vast, wide areas. Even the indoor areas feel so much larger (and sometimes empty) compared to the first three games.

When I think of Metroid Prime, I think of tight, claustrophobic corridors. The indoor areas of the original games are so dense and intricate, and we just haven't seen that yet with Prime 4. It feels too… clean. Too open.

I want to feel like I'm suffocating when I play a Metroid game. I want the fear to come from claustrophobia and feeling like I can't escape. You can create fear from isolation, but it's not as potent to me, especially in large, open areas.

I'm still extremely optimistic, and I have full faith in Retro. I desperately want this game to be a masterpiece. It needs to live up to the series.

Here's to hoping they've been saving the best, most "Metroidy" aspects for us to experience unspoiled.

Looks like a PS2 game to me…

You people are ridiculous. Mp on gamecube looked better than anything on ps2, so mp4 is worse than mp1 ?
Get a grip, barely any game looks bad at this point.
Graphics wore don't matter and are being left behind, as they should.

No I just mean I hope it's not only in the game to provide a vast "open world" traversal space. I hope there's some crazy boss that comes out of the sand, or maybe there are clusters of interest.

I guess what I'm saying is that the desert area looks boring and un-metroid. I hope they do something surprising with it.

I see it from both sides. But rarely ever see much constructive criticism. If you can't see that I do not know what to tell you either.

Man this thread is depressing as fuck. Fucking killjoys. It's a gaming morgue in here.
Welcome to NeoGaf............. The haters have given up on denouncing the AAA ports, as they have been prooved wrong multiple times, Now they are focused on Matroid Prime 4, knowing full well this is a cross platform release. So obviously the Switch 2 version is being held back a little by this. It's still looks pretty decent all things considered.

That's actually great, but is still there any must have titles within this franchise?
All the numbered mainline entires are amazing.

If you have a Wii or WiiU you can play the Metroid Prime Trilogy on those. The Switch remaster of the first game is fantastic as well. But they're yet to re-release Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 on Switch/Switch 2.

There's also a DS entry in the Prime series, Metroid Prime: Hunters, that introduces the main antagonist of this game (Sylux).

I'll play it because I like some pulpy sci-fi and this looks suitably cheesy like most Metroid games. I'm not expecting Super Metroid or Prime quality. Hopefully the basic adventuring and combat is enough to overcome the lame open world aspect.

Just going off what they have presented so far. Large empty open spaces are not what I associate with the 3D Metroid's of the past. Hopefully, like I said, they are holding a lot back because the trailers and gameplay shown so far do not sell me on the game.
