Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

Free loudout players are rabid, had to kill 3 of them because they started the fight. Yesterday i had 0 pvp, well 2 times got shot but managed to escape. Today i killed 3 in like 1 hour. Its so random and i love it

the past 10 or so raids I've just been shooting every fucker on site. The amount of times someone says 'dont shoot' or 'friendly., hello raider' etc they will either wait until near extraction to turn on you or just flat out shoot you the second you go to loot near them.

Not a problem for a sociopath like me. I dropped a joly jolt mine into the subway stairwell yesterday and shotgun blaste a full squad on their way out. Felt dirty but delicious loot.

My absolute favourite thing to do at the minute is take a ton of noise attractors / lure nades / noise makers and just spam the shit out of them when I see an enemy squad and watch the carnage as leapers, wasps and rockeers just pound then all to dust

The emergent gameplay in this is second to none. Much tomfoolery is possible and highly humerous.

yeah its pretty fucking funny. I rode a bombadier into battle yesterday, dropped on top of it from the roof above while it was fighting a squad and provided some incindiary support ultil it kicked blasted off :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I just uninstalled, but hear my humble soapbox out... Arc Raiders has an amazing foundation with so much potential baked in. The sandbox has crazy potential. So I'm not hating on the game, but for my own subjective sanity, I'll let it cook for a few months and see where it goes. In the grand scheme of things, this game just launched, so I'll just give the anti-cheat, the community, and the developers some time to refine the balance and explore additional options 🤷‍♂️

And btw, I've seen the invites and accepted your friends requests. I'm sorry for not inviting some of you guys to play, I've concluded that team PvP play isn't quite my thing due to it's nature of being...so heavily PvP. But I hope to join up with some of you on the other side sometime

Have fun guys, cheers 🫡

Hope they don't nerf things and water down the possibilities Ike they did with THE FINALS. Love that game but they nerfed too many cool things like nukes (c4 on explosive canisters) and carrying turrets on other barrels.

Speaking of nerfs, I've noticed people on Reddit and Steam calling for the free loadout option to be nerfed - basically one of the few things keeping PvE-centric crowd from leaving (it's a brilliant mitigation). Hopefully, the developers aren't stupid enough to nerf it, as it could quickly shave off a significant part of their player base.

I'm super impressed with this game, it's been a really long time since that happened. I started playing on Monday night, and I couldn't stop. I'm loving Arc Raiders, and it's been a long, long time since that happened!

Yesterday, during a raid, my group and I were surprised by several other raiders lurking near the extraction point; the moral of the story is that a shootout started, but then someone yelled "please, don't shoot" and, out of nowhere, the shooting stopped. We all huddled together in the elevator, I helped a fallen raider get to the elevator in time, and in the end, we all almost died laughing. It was sensational!

They can say what they want, but the Force is True on this one! It's been a long time since I bought games at launch – I don't even remember the last time I did that – but the hype is real.

I would love to play with fellow Gaffers. I'm on PSN (EvilSmurfKing), it would be really cool to play with Gaf brothers squads.

Getting one shotted is not fun. ARC Raiders is about the dance, which leads to unpredictable moments. The Finals is way better today than it was at launch because it creates more dance like combat scenarios.

That was not my post you quoted, but it's all good :)

I do enjoy watching people perish
Funny GIF

It is pretty damn funny.

Speaking of perishing. I saw a big streamer yesterday who demolished a griefer and revived the "poor victim". He was so proud of himself for being the good guy. Turns out, in reality he shot the victim and defib'ed the rat.. That was funny. The game is so watchable compared to other games.

I definitely miss a big part of the game by being a pacifist but i'm on pc with a controller against m+k users, i would probably lose every duel even if i shot first if they don't die immediately and i mostly run around with shit ass weapons :lollipop_squinting:

But the idea of luring robots with granades into groups of people sound hilarious, i may be try something tonight...not even for the loot, just fo the fuckery...

Are the best lure granades hard to craft?

Other games have bigger variety of enemies at launch, not sure how this is in any way confusing or controversial.
It is more noticeable in other games, even with more opponents, because the opponents here rarely act the same way, so situations that are basically the same feel quite different. At least for now.

Nah, i definitely noticed the shit enemy variety, especially indoors, there is not enough variety of behaviours when you constantly fight balls and small spiders, they are a non-threat in 99,99% of the cases and they are beyond basic, they just come at you ready to be smashed.

The flying drones ai is more random and erratic but they also switch from moments of brilliance to moment of absolute retardation that more scripted enemies don't have, it is the price to pay for super dynamic ai and machine learning, higher highs, lower lows.

The most impressive thing about the enemies are their animations related to their damage, watching the drones losing a rotor and trying to stay in the air and still shooting at you with shit aim or the leaper being almost dead and still trying to crawl at you, they did an excellent job, probably one of the few reasons why i'm still playing.

This is kinda of an euphoria engine for robots in a way...

Same here as well. Unless you get jumped superior tactics and cunning usually wins the day.

Just has great moment, heard a raider cry out the usual dont shoot, then he crawled around the corner in a downed state and proceeded to pop his cloggs. Dude was loaded with keys and a decent sniper. Thank you very much.

Liquid_015 Liquid_015 sorry couldn't accept your invite my internet connection is terrible just now. Hotel wifi.

Knowing myself, i'm never gonna try fighting people if i can lose good loot, if i try it's always gonna be with shit weapons, at least until i have the blueprints and enough materials to craft good weapons with ease, and that is gonna take a fucking while...

Good weapons and equipment is reserved for when i'm gonna decide to tackle the big machines.
Prepare to lose a lot then. You dont even need that much, even the grey weapons are great just upgrade them to lvl 4 and maybe use some attachments. It makes a ton of difference. Like basically double/triple ammo, much faster reload etc

i don't even try so i can't lose :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

god damn.. niggas be camping spawning points now. Literally spawned in to the buried city right on top of a squad just camping in the tower above it. a ton of dead raiders and I joined them in about 10 seconds from leaving the spawn point

also check this out 😂

Do clankers can hear my voice if i talk with proximity chat?

Also they need to make revive of strangers free or like with a common object like those metal tubes that you can recharge half you shield with, i don't wanna waste space in my inventory for a defibrillator...

Decided to give this one a shot for $40. Initially I was saying it's fine but I'm a little overwhelmed by what I'm supposed to do. Eight hours later it's clicked for me and I'm completely obsessed with this. Having a lot of fun and even bought the deluxe edition add on just to support the developers. My Embark ID is Anton#3901 if anyone wants to add me.

My next step has to be to shoot someone, revive them and then shoot them again
Savage. I love it.

"Oh shit, I'm so sorry, this is my first game, I didn't mean to kill you, let get you back up!"
*defib*
"There you go, now let me drop you some band--"
*kills them*
"Oh shit, that's not the drop bandages button! I'm all thumbs - I'm so sorry!"

1st time I ever tried one of these types of games and I am impressed. After watching a bunch of lets plays, seeing the goofballs of Giant Bomb having fun I took the plunge today and got it on ps5. 3 raids down and I like it, going to try to get my brother to play so we can team up.

There a bunch of ID's in the second post of folks on here playing. I'll add you to that and add us in game.

So I hate extraction, but this intrigues me because I do like how it looks overall gameplay wise. So how long are sessions or like a run, do you need to main this game to progress or can you play it on the side and still make decent progress?

How bad does it hurt to lose your shit?

I'd most likely be playing solo but just curious how progress works and if it's a game that requires full attention to really go somewhere

Runs last anywhere from a few minutes upto 30 minutes if you go right up to the final bell.

You don't need to main it you can play at your own pace as there are no mandatory wipes.

Hurt level when you bite the dust depends on what you have on you at the time, as is par for the course in these games. This is off set in this particular game with basic free loadouts and a progression system.

Can you explain how the actual progression goes a little? Like I see people looting guns, materials etc
.. But do you get blueprints to build better weapons and armor? Like if you extract an awesome gun you can just lose it the next run?
