Black Ops 7 drops in 4 days

I just realized there is no paying for early access bullshit. I wonder why that is? I always felt like doing that kills the hype for a game and negatively hurts sales. Most gamers will just wait the few days and the popular streamers have most likely already moved on by the time early access period ends

People always say this. Sure its an off year and theres a bit of competition but the game will sell millions regardless.

I play both those games you mentioned but will still buy COD as well as its all my pub group plays.

No doubt the enviable CCU thread will be a great read.

Oh boy it sure is drops

Dunno about USA, but the conversation that BO7 is our in a few days is basically dead in Europe, thanks to BF/ARC Raiders combo.

Still, I'm sure that CoD inertia is still massive and will produce solid numbers, but this maybe the most muted CoD release since Ghosts.

That's a given. CoD is an evergreen IP. Like sports games, it will always attract the casual crowd regardless. This year though feels different.

I play CoD as well, I actually really enjoy Blops 6 and played alot with coworkers in zombies. But it was a mistake for them to go straight to 7. The fatigue is there and Blops 6 has like an absolutely inasane amount of content as is.
I dont even hate the ridiculous skins. I ENJOY them. Cause CoD jumped the shark ages ago, its just a ridiculous cluster fuck of pop culture and I think its hilarious.

I think this year actually looks good, I bounced off 6 pretty hard as I didn't like the maps. If they sort that issue and with the promise of reduced SBMM and persistent lobbies should be good for a quick blast every now and again. Sure looks like there is a lot of content this time, 18 launch maps and a further 5 or so in season one alone.

The beta played pretty well.

My nephew (still in college) says the same thing...no one is expecting 7 to be "sticky" and his group is all on Arc or BF. Will be interesting to see what happens on release for sure.

Game already bought and loaded.

can't wait to play it for a couple of hours before I cuss it and go back to BF6, just to play that for a couple of hours and cuss it, then back to COD and continue doing this till the next COD.

At least they fixed the SBMM with the open beta, so that is good.

BO7 will be just fine, but Warzone is in trouble and will likely lose a LOT of players to Redsec. The Arc Raiders overlap seems minimal as it's a different genre and perspective.

I personally got bored of Redsec pretty damn quickly and jumped back into Warzone and BO6, but with just the one new Resurgence map in Season 1 and Avalon not dropping until Spring, I can see myself getting back into Redsec before Spring, for sure. B6, on the other hand, until they fix insta zeroing, I'm not touching, haha.

Have we ever gotten a proper CCU number for CoD and not just the Steam numbers?
Only from the Court case. Think they claimed something along the lines of 100 million MAU across all games and formats.

An IRL friend called me last night to complain that he wouldn't be able to join up for COD until this beast was downloaded. He's in on a bad Starlink connection and on a Series S right now..

I made that same call to my friend yesterday, haha. I had to clear space and dl 208GB, took nearly two hours.

BF6 is already on a decline. This weekend had ~100k players less than the weekend before according to steam stats. This is very strange because we had double XP, so I would have expected a steady playerbase or even more players than the week before.

Arc Raiders. Loved BF6 but I've not touched it in a week.

BF6 couldn't even overtake last years CoD. The drop off has been insane and even more will leave again for CoD sadly.

I'll get to level 50 and probably call it a day

I still have block ops 6 installed in case I get a zombie or campaign itch, but today I got about a 93gb update that apparently preloads the new game which I don't and probably won't own, but hey, at least I get forced to download the files. Their launcher / hub and UI is one of the absolute worst designed.

2 1/2 days actually, better get a move on…

210GB this year without Warzone, because the single player includes the new battle royale map in a PvE extraction mode.

Not sure how it works right now but you are never forced to download anything in the past.

I was offered the game key for free and I still declined lol. I used to play every single COD up to the last one last year and realized I just dont care about this franchise anymore. I dont find it fun at all and feel like I keep getting less and less of a game, depending on monthly updates to get it to some reasonable package. This year was when I said Im done with this.

I did not had the option to choose before the update started. Since I am looking forward to play BO7 in two days this is fine for me. Nevertheless I still consider this "forced".
Nah it's a bit confusing with that app as its a bag of shit. It will start the update, but then you can deselect the bits you don't want. It's not very clear. Steam does the same but its much easier to use.

On Steam it auto downloaded the update for me, so it was forced.
Again no. It starts the auto download like any game with a content update but you can just deselect the bits you don't want as the download starts. here's mine from today, luckily I wanted the update but if you didn't you just deselect it. Unless you are suggesting I need to install black ops 7 to play 6. The only thing that is a mandatory update is COD HQ which is around 10gb last time I checked.

I could be wrong but it would be fucking stupid if they force you to download 7 to play another game you own.

Far from massive i'd say, these games did fine on console, but it was on PC where they exploded.

CoD's strenght is on consoles, and console players just love CoD, overall sales might be a bit lower than other years, but i wouldn't expect a big drop
