NateTheHate: Microsoft Partner Showcase Announcement "Very Soon"

"Here at Xbox, in conjunction with our partners, we are unbelievably proud and excited to announce 15 new studio closures, 12,000 layoffs and over 1000 new overpriced DLCs across our extensive catalogue of games"

An odd sentiment to express when we're just about to enter 2026, the Year of Xbox.

They should announce that they are acquiring Sony for one trillion dollars.

Err no, it's not 2026 yet.

Available with Xbox Play Anywhere(TM).

You'll be eating your words in 2026 - the Year of Xbox.

The megabombs are coming

The skeptics, cynics and HATERS will be silenced.

Damn, boy.

Don't come off this thirsty.

Microsoft is buying Ubisoft

Not even legally possible. The condition of Ubisoft getting MS's content for cloud streaming in Europe included them not being able to acquire Ubisoft for at least 10 years. Part of the agreed terms with CMA & EC to get the ABK deal approved.

So thankfully, we can avoid that disaster. Tho I guess PIF buying Ubisoft wouldn't be too much better (tho they seem to be easing off on things; FF: City of the Wolves having a little comeback now with cameos fans actually want i.e Chun-Li).

I've said this many times, something tells me they chose UbiSoft behind closed doors, due to them having access to their financials and seeing future failings.

Now, would that mean the cloud gets foreclosed back to MS should Ubi fail? Or would MS be forced to shop another publisher?

For God's sake I'd hope it's the latter, because I seriously hate how the one company that's consistently failed the most in gaming as a platform holder (yes, even more than SEGA, Atari & 3DO) keeps getting second chances over and over due to money from their non-gaming divisions.

Let's just hope the sunk costs on ABK plus the rest of MS expecting gaming side to pull their own weight means they deem any money spent on Ubisoft not worth it, even if it's for pennies. Those are still expenditures MS would have to account for and not all of it (maybe not even most of it?) could be turned into a simple write-off for tax purposes.

Honestly, I just want see Nintendo acquire the Rayman IP, if Ubisoft's open to companies IP shopping. Nintendo don't need Rayman, but the Raving Rabbits games have a fanbase. If not them, then maybe SIE for Team Asobi do so something with it? Otherwise maybe some independent 3P studio or small publisher buys the rights and they can do something in the future with it. Maybe the Yooka-Laylee devs, if they feel a more recognizable IP can give future games a sales lift.
