Dunno if I'd agree with that as I think Uncharted and Tomb Raider are both great games however I definitely appreciate the game play in Tomb Raider feeling more arcadey/gamey. Their respective gameplay provide a nice contrast to one another.

I played through it when it first released and it's a lot of fun, personally enjoyed it more than Uncharted. The Bow is super satisfying to use which was great after how much I hated it in Assassins Creed 3

It's a newer game, and one influenced by the 2006-7 era third person gameplay that Uncharted utilized.

TR is more streamlined in its gameplay, but to say it shits on UC1 is just silly. There are other areas that make up a video game, and all those other areas are vastly superior in UC1. Music, set pieces, characters, story, art direction etc.

Let's not forget what the game lead to a couple of years later. UC2. The third person action blockbuster that to-this-day still shits on every single game in the genre that has released since.

Yeah really. I dunno this port looks rough as hell from the trailer. It's missing a lot of effects. I remember it looking much nicer on PC, especially that part where she's face deep in blood. Could just be how I thought it looked though game is over a decade old.

I love the 2013 game, for my money the moment-to-moment gameplay blows the Uncharted series out of the water and if you're getting to discover it for the first time now I'm a little jealous. There's not much raiding of tombs, mind.

I have a Switch 2... but I also still use my Switch 1 a lot (OLED screen looks way better on some games, and the Switch 1 is far more portable). Hate having to choose.
 
When it released I thought it was way inferior to Uncharted.

Then I replayed it as well as uncharted collection in recent years, and thought that in the end it was a much better game than Uncharted 1-3 imho. These ones don't stand the test of time at all: replay them if you don't believe me.
 


  • Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was released today on Switch 2, 12 years after its release on PS4.
  • Despite the years and the technical superiority of Switch 2, Tomb Raider is clearly inferior in quality on the Nintendo console.
  • The cutbacks are widespread, but the most noticeable aspects are the quality of the hair, shadows, vegetation, and global lighting.
  • Switch 2 adds some extra trees compared to PS4.
  • Switch 2 has a solid framerate at 60fps at a higher resolution than PS4, which rarely achieved a stable 60fps.
  • Unfortunately, I would not recommend this version. While it is enjoyable, it is insufficient for a console that could run this game in much better conditions.

BTW, the ps5 pro comparison is about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It's this stupid trend where Switch 2 fan boys try to give credence to the switch 2 power by making asinine comparison to the ps5 pro when the game doesn't have pro support.

We saw it with CyberPunk, with Tomb Raider and with many other games. In reality, the Swirch 2 is proving itself to be a ps4 handheld with DLSS. Not a bad thing at all. Just a far cry from the disingenuous comparisons that are being churned out by youtube jobbers.
 
I remember that game, is the choosen one that made me hate the Tomb Raider series in a definitive way.

This one looks like a Switch 1 port of the game upscaled for Switch 2 with zero effort, but for the first Switch is a good time waster.
 
This game holds a special place in my heart it was one of the first games I played on Xbox one x. The devs should've pushed the switch 2 harder I wouldn't dare buy this cut back version.

Correction: I confused this with rise of tomb raider on One X so the devs have a chance to do something with Switch 2 whenever they decide to port that game

They also finally released the DE version on PC a couple of years ago. MS store only. Steam is the standard version. That said, they forgot to use the updated pre-rendered FMVs from PS4, so you get the jarring difference between the new face model in-game, and the old one in cutscenes. Probably a mod on Nexus to fix that though.

They have about the same resolution. PS4 game is native 1080p, not 900p. The game looks glorious on a 1080p screen, one of the best looking game on PS4.

And by the way that's the docked version, the game resolution on portable should be much lower (and is obviously not disclosed by the MS/Nintendo fanboy owner of this channel).

I thought her first face in the new trilogy was perfect. She actually looked like a young version of Classic/Legend Lara.

I sometimes wonder if there was a change in creative vision right after TR13 came out. Because not only did she look like Lara Croft, but the game ended with her using her iconic dual pistols. Then Rise came out, and that's when the new trilogy really start to depart itself from the previous games.

I've tried three separate times to get into Shadow. Lara just pisses me off as a character by that point, she's such a boring uncharismatic wet blanket. The pacing is terrible. I think the game took away my weapons 2-3 times by the time I quit.
 
A lazy up-rez from the Switch version of a game to the Switch 2 sure is bringing out the trolls. Not much to feed on these days, is there fellas? 😆

and that's the problem with Shadow, this new trilogy started with moment to moment gameplay and kind ditched the "tomb raiding" of the old games, Rise perfected ( imo ) the moment to moment gameplay with way better action sequences than the first one ( it looked a lot like Uncharted at the time ), but then Shadow dropped, they tried to change this "moment to moment full of action gameplay" to a more boring "lets walk and explore" one and its was boring and thats why is the worse reviewed game of the trilogy, also changing Lara design was a really stupid decision.

Shadows is the only game of the trilogy that i didnt finished for a reason, it was boring, i was expecting a step up from all the action and set pieces of Rise and the OG game, and sadly they delivered a boring ass game the tuned down everything that made the first two games great.

I started the trilogy with Shadow (which was included in PS Now during Covid) and finished it, and then was hooked by the Rise demo, but never finished it, and then even bought 2013 on PS3 and then the DE on PS4 without even finishing it. Maybe I'll try it again on Switch 2.

let me get this straight, you have all the better versions to play it right now BUT you prefer to "waste" money again on clearly inferior versions of the game just to try it out again ???

Crazy is banging your head against a wall repeatedly and expecting a different result. Since it's launch yesterday, it now sits at number 4 on the Switch 2 sales charts, but by all means keep banging your head.

What are the "better" versions ? The PS3 running at 25 fps isn't the better I believe. And I don't have enough space on my PS5 to reinstall the PS4 version.
