Shadow Drop: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition - Switch 1 and 2

Based on what I played on the Switch 2, it seems to be a Switch 1 port running at 60fps. Looks worse than the PS4 version but it runs silky smooth at 60fps.
The game is out today – it costs $19.99, but is 10 percent off through November 24. Those who own Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered can save an additional 10 percent. Owners of Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered will be eligible for a 10 percent discount. Note that these discounts stack, so you can potentially save 30 percent.
So $20 for a 60fps port of a 12 year old game that looks worse? No thanks.

Good game but it's dirt cheap on other platforms. Cool for people that only own a SW2 or really want to play it portably though.

What are the "better" versions ? The PS3 running at 25 fps isn't the better I believe. And I don't have enough space on my PS5 to reinstall the PS4 version.
You dont have enough space ? Yep, i got you now, its easier to buy a new product them deleting some game for space than instaling this one again....

Wait so instead of temporarily delete something you'll spend $20 on an inferior version? Fucking hell
I had to watch the video again, the differences are barely noticeables, the game is stuck in 2013, a slight difference in hair and shadows aren't groundbreaking.

It's like calling PS5 version of a multiplat game cause it has higher framedrops than the Series X version.

Do some of you trolls need some cash? There's activities you can do living under a bridge that pays, you know.
i can send you my pay pal to waste $20 on me, i promise to not quote you for the rest of this year, its a better deal than buying this game a 100%.

Let me rephrase it for you then.

Wait so you'd rather spend $20 to play the same version of a game instead of simply temporarily delete something from a hard drive?

Oh, right

It's like my PC version of Jedi Fallen Order, I know I'll play it on my PS5 rather than my Steam Deck, cause it's a bit more convenient. There are some games I like to play on my Switch, and other on my PS5. And I was waiting for Tomb Raider to come to Switch for years, so 16€ is not a big deal to play it in the train.

$20 ffs. Some of you lot must be on the breadline. I have it on PC but I'll get the S2 version for the simple reason I can play it on a portable. That's the most blatantly obvious draw.

I never really unplugged my Steam Deck OLED, either.

I have OCD when it comes to my electronics. My phone must be plugged in at all times, when it not in pocket. I have chargers everywhere I sit. The only place I don't keep one is on my front porch, but that's because I keep it in a hutch near my front door, and take it out when I sit out there, and bring it in when I come inside.

Yeah, cause we are on the PS4 generation, also i thought Switch 2 was nextgen console, why its running the 360 version of the game upscaled ? :pie_roffles:"pie_tears_joy:

Also dont cherry pick YouTube screenshots, at least post the whole thing for comparisson

Tomb Raider Switch 2 port to become more important than the Cyberpunk 2077 port for some people in 3…. 2…. 1….
It's not like patches can't improve the Switch 2 version, either. I'm not hanging my hat on Aspyr to do anything, but Switch 2 owners have been pleasantly surprised in the past. This is the exact same scenario as the Hogwart's game, except both versions dropped on the same day.

Looks like the game runs at solid 60 fps, i don't expect anymore from the devs.

They really messed up her facial expressions in Lara's Definitive Edition face. When they redesigned Lara for the PS4 definitive edition, they "updated" her face and it completely eliminates all the intricacies of her eyes which provided so much emotion to Lara in the PS3 version. The definitive edition face is just bland and lacks any intensity. Shame. I wish they would've used PS3 Lara face on this port, so much better.

Just look at the emotion in the eyes and eyebrows of the PS3 version on the left compared to the Lobotomy Lara on the Definitive Edition on the right. Ugh.

Also. The lighting looks so off. Everything has this flat gray filter on top that you cannot get rid off even when lowering the game's brightness. I think it's what's making the game look so bad. Almost like when you have an RGB High / Low mismatch.

just replying stupidity with stupidity. you posted so many times just "GOTCHA" the switch 2 like this is some measure of its abilities.
lol, i m criticizing the lazy port and the high price for this piece of shit port, SW2 clearly can run all the game of the trilogy with high assets / res and frame, BUT, you guys go way to defensiveness when anyone criticizes anything related to SW2 no matter how bad it is. I was surprised that there is no tressFX in the switch2 port cause the hardware is pretty much capable of running it without any problem, but you somehow you saw that and thought that i was criticizing SW2 for something that is clearly not a hardware fault and tried to "GOTCHA" me.

again, you guys are way to defensive when its comes to any criticize towards anything SW2 related, its not that hard to acknowledge that this is a shit port that doesn't worth its price tag, you were the one comparing the game to a PS4 as it was a metric of something good, its not,

Who is defending the Switch 2 port? 🙄

were did i say that someone is defending SW2 port ?,i said that you guys go into defense mode to anything related to SW2, even if its bad.

this is you "Tomb Raider Switch 2 port to become more important than the Cyberpunk 2077 port for some people in 3…. 2…. 1…." trying to minimize things, its important because SW2 owners deserve better than this shit.

You said that Switch 2 owners are in defensive mode… Almost everyone is pointing this is a Lazy port for Switch 2.

When it released I thought it was way inferior to Uncharted.

Then I replayed it as well as uncharted collection in recent years, and thought that in the end it was a much better game than Uncharted 1-3 imho. These ones don't stand the test of time at all: replay them if you don't believe me.
I played them recently too but my conclusion was slow hazard spelunking and breaking crates for xp every ten feet was annoying and I could more effectively and reliably take down enemies in the first Uncharted. Also parkour in Uncharted feels exciting unlike the timed/QTE-filled platformer puzzles in Tomb Raider.

Methinks a little projection is going on here. We're openly chastising Aspyr for being lazy, but that doesn't mean we won't opt for the 60fps version of the two.

I just got the entire trilogy, definitive versions for 11.19 EUR from GOG. 🤡

7YyV4aC.png

epic games also gave them for free

point isn't that you can get it cheaper elsewhere, which has been the case for years now

its still an affordable overall decent quality port for people who can play the game on the go, on a large user base many whom may have never played the game before

I haven't replayed this trilogy in years, but I remember enjoying it more than any other tomb raider and recall overall enjoying uncharted more because of the story

but I recall that uncharted 1 hit detection sucked

Okay you convinced me after a second thought, I'll play it on my Portal

EDIT: Apparently I also have it on steam/playable on my Macbook. Yeah I'll pass on this version
