What's the deal with your avatar.

There hasn't been a thread on this topic in a while so I ask, "What's the deal" with your Avatar

I'll share mine, it's pretty boring and AI generated. I thought of my username "ReasonBeing", which led me to think of a "reasonable being", which led me to think of a "reasonable bean", which led to me going to co-pilot. I ended up with a bean in a suit. There ya go, a gripping story. I set the bar pretty low, what's your story?

My avatar is Dirk Niwoehner, or Dirk Benedict. I have enjoyed Battlestar Galactica and A-Team, among others. I've always just enjoyed his personality that seems to carry over through some shows/movies with the cigar puffing and debonaire style and persona.

I was a huge Stargate Atlantis fan back in 2013 when I joined GAF, so I set Jason Momoa as my avatar. Got somewhat "internet famous" around that time, so kind of came to be known by my avatar. So I've kept it around. The current iteration is an AI pic of Momoa wearing a NeoGAF shirt (that I'm usually rocking IRL) standing by some gaming posters, in Simpsons style.

I just designed a little robot in inkscape, that can easily swap facial expressions with emotes because I'm a terrible artist, so using emotes as facial expressions makes editing videos way more straightforward.

Fine, I'll talk about my Avatar...

It's Sekiro, baby

Main character of one of the greatest games ever made, in my opinion

Also, once you pick an avatar, you've got to stick with it, it's how I instantly recognize who's posting

People without avatars are basically anonymous to me 😶‍🌫️

The first videogame I ever played was Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! for the NES. Little Mac was the protagonist in the game. It was also a nickname given to me as a child for a different reason.

I keep thinking it's Tommy Lee Jones

It's a piece of art by David Lynch. I went to see his exposition in the Netherlands a couple of years ago and took this picture. The flash of my camera gave it a cool effect

It's from Bojack Horseman, a show I really like, and I thought it made for a good visual as an avatar. Although it's from a pretty dark moment in the show and so I've thought about using something else.

I'm not even a huge fan of SNK or Neo-Geo, i just like the logo and it was the only small png i had with a transparent background at the time i made the account.

Name is a name I used for a Dark Souls run. Doesn't mean anything.

Avatar was made using basic early-2023 AI to be Dark Souls inspired. Compared to AI now, it's dodgy, but I've grown attached to it.

My original user name was bud_brigman, with Ed Harris' pic from The Abyss. I don't know if I lost that account from lack of use, or I couldn't recover it ... can't remember. ANYway, this one is named for the South Park Halloween episode of Spookyfish, and that was my avatar -- until TRON Uprising came out. Great animated series given little to no respect by its creators, Disney (SHOCKER).

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
