Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson has regularly reported that Ubisoft's plans called for the Prince of Persia remake to release prior to the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake. And, as of publish, that remains the case.
According to sources close to the game, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is scheduled to release in mid-January 2026. In addition to the release plan, sources believe it's likely that the next look at the game will come at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025. That's always where the official date could be revealed.

First announced back in 2020, the Sands of Time Remake has had an up and down development cycle. It was originally scheduled to release in January 2021 but was delayed to March 2021 in December 2020. A month before its March release, the game was delayed again to an unspecified date.

Im really looking forward to this. I hope they don't put anything in it that will detract the customers they need from purchasing it. I ignored the original games back in the day even though most people said they were great. I dont know why.

Original is still perfectly fine, if this ends up being a disaster.

Check out the Wii's Forgotten Sands as well, it's pretty cool.

Both Sands of Times and Warrior Within(which I preferred) were great.

Didn't play the Two Thrones unfortunately but heard it's a mix of what made the first two so good.

It's been a long wait.

Really hope this is good. It's such a great game. Wish it (the original) was available for Series X at 1080/4k at 60fps.

That's a shame; the first at least was honestly great. Just a wonderful, video-gamey game. 2003!

That's cool, I hope it looks great and has a Switch 2 version at launch. I love this franchise but it's been mismanaged by Ubisoft. Lost Crown is a fantastic game though.

Huh?

Somehow I doubt this, the game was in development hell not that long ago and completely scrapped and started again.

They started over in 2022. Almost 4 years for a remake is plenty. They probably are reusing quite a bit of the work done and just redoing graphics on Anvil Next (hopefully).

They look Indian, not Persian. Why is this a thing happening to PoP now lol

I hope it's just some weird lighting, I mean it is a low quality pic but yeah

I really just want to play a high quality 3D platformer. It's not like anyone really gave a damn about the characters. It's a super basic story. I'll wait until they have something to show officially, but I'm not worried about it right now.

? the original was not a high quality platformer... it was an action adventure with mostly very basic platforming. the platforming in the game was essentially a puzzle element, that was more about finding the correct path and combination of abilities to use.
unlike in actual platformers, there was very little realtime skill involved in it.

The whole series has always been about platforming. It doesn't mean it has to be like Mario. It's still platforming, jumping on poles, climbing, wall running, etc. I've always considered it a platformer.

Ubisoft's India studio was working on it but it was taken off them and given to Montreal instead.

Nah. Seems to be a ground up rework. Even mocap seems new as you can see Ubisoft Toronto badges with state of the art mocap equipment.

Farah is actually Indian even in the original, so that checks out. As to the Prince, the actual actor looks Persian. That could be an unfinished model without facial features, like the goatee, as everything looks super early and raw. Will have to wait and see.

Here's some insider info for you - this is going to be fucking terrible. Don't let me see this info go unsourced in your future articles.

I am a fan of not hiring high paid actors but this looks worse than expected. Probably worse than previous one as well which got cancelled.

Are we really looking at an incomplete build of the game to judge the visuals? Have we learned nothing from the GTA leaks?

This is being made by Ubisoft Montreal. Likely on the Anvil engine which just produced arguably the best looking game of the generation. Ubisoft has released 3 of the best looking games this gen. Their games might not be great anymore, but the graphics are still industry leading.

Dont worry about the graphics or even the combat systems. That build is probably not even a few months old.

You know what else runs on Anvil?

these leaks look like they are from the cancelled remake.

they completely retarded development with a new dev didn't they?

the platforming was never actually good platforming is my point. it never felt responsive, didn't give you any ways to do in-the-moment adjustments or anything. it literally just works like a string-input. you look at the situation, think about what the string of inputs are that you need to solve the "puzzle", and then input them while relatively static movement plays out.

it always moreso served as a puzzle element. it sucks if you look at it as a platformer... especially the old, pre SoT games... like 🤢.
you could replace it with a turn based command system and barely lose anything in the process.
