Can you fanboys please make up your mind about what is considered 1st party and what isn't? DS2 was championed as 1st party all year ("anything published by Sony is 1st party"), now it isn't because it goes against the "Sony isn't porting their games to PC anymore"-narrative. lmao

Kojima is 2nd party and DS Ip is now owned by Kojima. Kojima is the one calling the shots since he bought DS IP. This was expected. Even DS1 DC was ported to PC and xbox. But I doubt if there will be a xbox port due to low number of sales of Ds1 DC on xbox. PC number is not that spectacular for DS1 Dc but decent, so ports for pcmr is justified. I love this game. Very beautiful and generational type of game. Epic in scale and addictive, but I admit the sales was bad. If it was good maybe it will remain exclusive or at least a much longer time exclusivity. Well enjoy pcmr. Its very beautiful on ps5 and ps5 pro, let see how it looks on a very expensive rig.

Sometimes you gonna love them or hate them, but Pcmr on the X and FB are on a celebration and trashtalking PS. But this was already expected since Kojima owns the IP and Kojima prod is 2nd party. Now can pcmr prove this game will sell because the sales number of DS1 DC wasnt that big.

Curious. Why do PCMR need to "prove" any amount of sales? PCMR ain't shareholders and does not benefit at all from whatever revenue Sony/kojipro makes. What's important for PC gamers is that the title is available to purchase on their preferred platform, should they have a interest in said title.
In summary, a title being available on PC is intended to be mutually beneficial transaction. Gamers benefit from the flexibility to play the game on whatever platform of their choosing, while the publisher gets some additional revenue and profits over and above what they would have gotten if the title was a single platform exclusive.
The only proof needed that the above transaction is working is the continued release of PC ports.

There's abosulutely no Sony document saying they aren't happy with their PC business or that they plan to stop it. The opposite, the only references they said in the past was to say they were going to double down on PC.

Death Stranding 1 & 2 are PlayStation first party games because they are published by the platform holder, Sony. First party games include the second party games too.
Nobody at Sony said or even remotely hinted that they were going to stop porting games to PC or anything like that. PC is a very profitable business for them, each port has a very low cost and risk, and a huge ROI. PS first party games nowadays generate almost the same money outside PS than in PS, money that is helpful for them to be extra profitable and fund upcoming games plus cancelled games, or compensate those who tank. So obviously will continue porting to PC.

I could have waited but never mind. Ill see how much better it is on PC and i might drop the PS5 version. But, then I would need to weigh up just selling my Pro as I dont really know what games are coming anytime soon to play :/

LOL. DS1 has been doing very well on the Xbox Store sales charts all year. If you haven't seen it on the NPD charts, it's because:
1) A game at $19.99 is never going to be high on dollar-based charts.
2) For whatever reason, the publisher wasn't releasing sales data on gsd.
Furthermore, like DS1, the PC version is coming out sooner, and it seems it will be released in less than a year. But what's more, it's being published by Sony itself, which is the relevant fact because it's becoming a trend. They recently published Helldivers 2 directly on the Xbox Series X.
As for everything else, time will tell. Some of you had built a house of cards on the idea that Sony wouldn't release any more SP games on PC...

Having played DS2 on the Pro, its basically perfect on that system - I really do no know what more you'd want. Runs flawlessly, was almost entirely bug free from launch, and has excellent image quality throughout. Unless KojiPro are adding more features to the renderer (which isn't likely I suspect as its Guerilla's tech for the most part) improvements are only really going to be apparent to pixel-peepers.

I purchased it for Death Stranding 2 and other games. I dont regret it, DS2 looks insane on the Pro. I probs wouldnt sell it to be honest as id keep hold of it just to jump on what's coming when we have hard dates for Wolverine etc.
Unless they went up in price and I could guarantee more or less the same I paid for it.
Ive always played on everything but PC has always been my main platform since HL2 steam account creation. if games start coming 6 months after launch like this is looking to...I could probably wait for them. Dunno.
As for being a warrior, I realised a while ago its not that I dont like Sony, ive had every playstation device outside of PSVR2 and Portal, it's actually that I hate their hardcore fans. The ones that think they are owed every game to be on their platform day one and would boycott games when they didn't get them and refused or continue to refuse that any other platform is a relevant platform for people who just enjoy games and not warring. I don't engage as much as many here because of the exhausting negativity that resides in so many threads, as that is what gets the engagement unfortunately. A lot of it boils down to "my dad can beat your dad up" playground arguments. I would like to just talk games and tech from time to time without being bogged down by snarky hot takes and blind hatred. There also feels like there's a lot of astroturfing going on at the moment with the impending release of new hardware and that's a little off putting.
I love games and just want to enjoy the hobby.

So what is the requirement for it to be first party that I don't understand? Sony didn't buy Insomniac until 2019, so all Ratchet and Clank games prior to the PS5 game are third party, or how does it work?
