I discovered the existence of the Nex Playground just a few months ago, and it seems to be relatively popular?

Wtf even is that thing? It's not even dirt cheap or anything to justify the units and just chalk it up as some throwaway xmas period novelty toy that will be forgotten about when they go back to play with their real consoles, like all the popular mini systems that obviously didn't make a dent on modern consoles. I guess it's further proof Wii U should have been a real Wii 2 with improvements in all that made that what it was rather than merely half baked backwards compatibility with its outdated controllers and software and a completely new focus far from its core appeal otherwise...

I had heard about this system, and even saw it demoed in Walmart. It looked interesting, but I never expected it to be this popular.

It does offer something different that the other major consoles aren't currently doing. In that regard, it seems to be building its own niche in the market.

I love this because PlayStation & Nintendo will react
I suppose Nintendo do have that camera accessory for Switch 2 with some similar functionality potential but I doubt they'll do more than they already planned with it, or that it can even take off in a similar way, but we'll probably still see some more motion games like 1 2 Switch and such as well....

I bought the PS5 with Blue ray drive on the 22nd with the great deal that is going on. In no way was I expecting that it would be outsold by the Nex Playground.

Here's something to consider. Mat Piscatella's post only accounts for the PS5 Digital Edition. Where do the other PS5 packages place on the list?

I think its just a fad, a niche but a very convenient, affordable and easy gift to kids. Hmm? Looks like a gift idea for my niece. 😁
It costs about half as much as a PS5 or Switch 2, not that cheap. Plus the subscription shit. Lots of knock offs around though, I guess. You can always get a Wii, with Wii Sports Resort and such, lol... Recent kids probably never heard of it so it might as well be a new thing xD

Or a Meta Quest 3S for something modern that has a very similar price actually (with both owning games and PS+ like sub but lacks the local multiplayer aspect or rather there are some such things but you'd need more units for that rather than just the one system for all).

Why now though?

They have demo units set up at Walmart and possibly other stores. I wouldn't be surprised if kids walk by, see this device that allows their image to be "in" the game and on their TV screens, and immediately beg their parents to get one.

I liked the EyeToy on PS2, so I can understand the appeal of something like this. I would've thought that the required subscription (with no ability to purchase and own individual games) might have been a detriment, but apparently a large number of people feel otherwise.

Sorry I read it wrong, I thought $24.9 dollars but it is actually $249. Ill pass, lego will suffice for my godchild as Christmas gift.

Yeah, I read it was a hot item during the holiday season last year. Our bubble has finally been penetrated.

The games look... yeah

Yeah the holidays is when older people buy stuff like this for the family & the big 3 has left this market wide open for too long now Nex has slipped in with a subscription based cube 😭

Microsoft would have this spot right now if they would have bundled Kinect with Series S .

We are in strange times which is why the Digital Locker Era will succeed the younger generation don't have an attachment to physically owning software & as long as they can access it they will be ok ( until the Internet goes out 😭)
