MARVEL Cosmic Invasion - Reviews Thread

It seems a bit too simple, no special fighting game esque move combinations like battle circuit or throws & weapon pick ups like most beat 'em ups got unless it's the character's special attack like spider-man and wolverine, the RPGing is very lite vs Capcom's D&D games, etc., but it's fun, for now...

I guess with so many playable characters something had to give so they went for this simpler beat 'em up style a la Avengers, X-Men, TMNT, etc., rather than go after the very best in the genre. It's neat they kinda look like Capcom's versions but more chibi, even with some very similar special moves.

So only 1 story campaign? I was hoping for a campaign for every character, but I guess that would be too long
I did 6 stages in less than 2 hours. Haven't finished it yet but it doesn't seem super long. I guess I'll finish it and see. Game is fun but not a slam dunk or anything. Feels a tad overpriced.

I don't consider it overpriced since it is part of my GamePass sub.
Seems to be a perfect type of game for that sub

Finished an arcade run with phyla vell and phoenix; I think phoenix is the best support and she works well against bosses phyla is weaker against, but overall phyla seems kinda busted and kills everything easy because her sword doesn't have a hurtbox.
Maxed her out and she's got some of my favourite pallettes in there; quasar, captain marvel, martyr and the blue skinned captain marvel from a different reality.

I think that's because he's the original Punisher Frank Castle
I know lol, I meant he plays very cool, he's one of the most fun if not the most fun to play.

Edit: the drop-in coop works really well, you can just join any random game that's online and join the action wherever they are.

Definitely not a 9 or 10, come on folks. This is a good 7. A bit over priced for the type of game and length.

The price really pulls this one down. $15 and I think you could give it an 8. At $30 the most you can give it is a 6. This was my favorite genre as a kid, but continuing to make them in 2025 is just nostalgia bait. Wish more developers had the courage to try and revolutionize genres like this rather than just making retreads.

Or you can do it right, like Neon Inferno. That's a great twist on a nostalgia genre with updated gameplay and graphics. There's a free demo that I recommend. I wish this game did something similar instead of becoming an easy cash grab.

Games on this genre wouldnt be made without being attached to a famous IP.

What?! So then lets go back to the 90's- what would TMNT Hyperstone Heist or Turtles In Time be worth? You judge a games price based on length of game? What should Red Dead Redemption 2 be worth? $300?

So the achievements were bugged on xbox so they weren't live until much later.
Now the achievements are live but they don't pop up retroactively, seems like you have to erase all your data to get them lol.

Also marvel cosmic invasion is srs business lmao💀

I'll give these a look! The first game that ever lived in my head rent free was Double Dragon. Sadly the beat em ups I see have not evolved from DD one bit. 🤷‍♂️ I can still get enjoyment out of them, I'm just not in a hurry to spend money on them

When I first saw this I was all 'day zero!' but launching a game like this at this time of year( and I'll apply the same to the Terminator 2D game coming next week), $30 is a bit high( yes I know there's a launch 10% discount). I've spent $21 on the GOG Resident Evil classic trilogy/Dino Crisis 1+2 pack and $24 off CD Keys on GTA V enhanced/Red Dead 2/ Skyrim SE the past 2 weeks, legacy content of course but great bang for the buck with countless hours of content and gameplay. I've had to push this new Marvel game to the 'I'll get it when its $20' pile.

Should I buy it on PC or on the Switch?
Just bought Neon Inferno on the Switch and even it being 2d it ran pretty poorly...

if you like Dd but you want an innovation you might want to try this.

Thing is, this isn't the 90's anymore. For that time those games were(and still are) fun to play. But we have had technological advances since then.

For a game like this in this day and age it costs too much for what it is.

I also personally don't believe a game on its own should be more than $59 new. I'm not paying more than that, I'll wait for a sale.

She hulk has occasionally been very bulky in the past, generally when she got more gamma in her and turned savage, in the pas decade she had that big savage look again, though she's back to "normal" now; seems her look in the game is a bit of a mix between both looks.

Nearly bought this and then went on to my PC and it's on gamepass. The service does deliver...it's kind of annoying.

Hopefully with the new costs of gamepass the Devs are getting better deals.......

She Hulk is great in this. The air throw never gets old.

I love SOR4, Absolum and Fight n Rage due to their feel, hit stop and very good vibration/rumble function whenever you connect a hit and dislike games like, say, Final vendetta and the takeover where it feels like you're hitting cardboard enemies.

How does this compare ? Is there proper hit-stop ?does it have rumble ? Is it fun ?

It doesn't compare at all to SoR4, Absolum, Fight n Rage. It's a much more casual, simplistic beat em up like TMNT Shredder's Revenge. I would compare it to things like Knights of the Round. In the game's defense, you do have a tad more depth than that. You have assists, dual characters, block / dodge, air moves, etc. They all feel very simple, but it's an enjoyable and fun game. Casual games like this thrive with more characters, and this has almost 3x the characters of TMNT. I personally would recommend waiting for a sale. $15 at least.

Thanks man 😉
OK then, I'll wait for a discount since I know you love this kind of stuff but you don't sound that enthused with it.

PS : did you get a Portal on BF ? this shit is meant to played there hence me asking 😁

It's fun, just not worth the asking price imho. Fun but definitely very casual. I actually had pretty low expectations, so it honestly cleared those. If anything, TMNT Shredder's Revenge had nice pixel art and animations, but I never replayed it in full because it was just very shallow and simple. This is similar but they at least added some very basic defensive moves now, more characters, etc. As a developer they're heading in the right direction, but have a ways to go to match the more technical "fighting game depth" beat em ups like SoR4.

I didn't get a Portal, but $150 is a great price for it. And yeah, if you know what you're getting and want to play this on the Portal, by all means go for it. It's definitely not bad, just not like the games you listed.

That actually looks really cool. I havnt even heard of this game until today. Easy buy for me.

at the last mission.
Game is a solid 6

Thing that saves it is the amazing looking gfx.
Enemy variety is shit.

Only playing as wolverine and storm the rest of the cast can suck a dick. (Phoenix is gay) This is an xmen game

Hate to say it but I agree. I played the demo on Steam and enjoyed it, but I was only in on day one if it was around $20. $30 is too steep. I'd play it on Game Pass Ultimate but my sub just lapsed on December 1st. I may still buy it though only because I have $10 in my Xbox wallet that I have no other use for and since I'm now on Game Pass Essential I can still get the discount, bringing my total out-of-pocket down to $16.49. I think it'll be worth it at that price.

I can't believe people are saying it's overpriced. It was like $35 here in Australia. And these games aren't a play through the story once deal. My mates and I used to play the same beat em ups for what felt like years. They're a fantastic local co-op game to play with mates or the kids. Good times.

Wolverine is sick as hell when you're used to him. Just a blizzard of claws. Or jump and Y to fly and grab onto anyone. Spiderman is also insanely strong with his mobility, web shot, and horizontal web kick that covers the entire screen.

Looking at absolum i hate the shitty flash game look. Same as their other game.

But the gameplay looks lit.

Ugh..

You're right. Been thinking of grabbing it but something just felt off. When you said that it clicked.

Still I can always refund if the game doesn't gel with me

I thought it looked sorta similar to Streets of Rage 4. Honestly I haven't had any issues with the graphics and really enjoyed it. Definitely worth checking out IMO.

I'll give it a fair crack of the whip.

I've been playing the old arcade double dragon games / final fight recently on the Rog xbox Ally x , which started an itch for the side scrolling genre.
