Finally got a Switch 2, what now?

I like Nintendo games but your idea of Steam Deck playing Nintendo game is emulation which I dont care for that.

Also form I can understand you only emulate old Nintendo games, I dont think you emulated games like Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave day one.
What you care is irrelevant.

As is shitting up a Switch 2 thread with Steam Deck recommendations, TBH.
Good that I didn't do that and I agree.
Then you did you quote me in the first place? I just voiced opinion that I rather have Switch 2 and you quoted me and I gave you my reason why I rather have Switch 2.
Because looked like you meant that people that like Nintendo games can't play them on Deck. 🤷‍♂️

Oh no, did someone mention they like Nintendo games and didn't mention lord and saviour Steamdeck? It looked like he forgot you can emulate? How dare he!

OMFG get over yourself. What Danjin44 Danjin44 wrote is easily understood by everyone.

Do we get these same warring comments in the "I just bought a Steam Deck!" threads, or is the insecurity one-sided?

Of course its one sided

Nobody gives a shit about Steamdeck in the grand scheme of things. Its hobbyist hardware, the equivalent of "there's dozens of us" meme. They can't let a single Switch thread go by without coming in to derail the thread.

They're as annoying as Vegans + OLED owners combined, they have to fucking mention Steamdeck every time they can.

Like clockwork, you make a thread about Switch 2 and the steamdeck ghouls come out

They can't help themselves.

Have you heard about the lord and saviour Steam deck?

What's even dumber is that a) the Deck has a great library of games that stands on its own b) Switch emulation on Deck is at best* on par with OG hardware because emulation is expensive and c) it is irrelevant for S2 where there is no emulator and if there is one someday it won't run on SD.

It's platform warring in its most childish and irrelevant state.

*only exception I can think of is Pokémon Scarlet but it's patched for S2 now.

Nobody in their right mind buys a Nintendo game legitimately (physical or digital), then goes through the hassle of modding their Switch, risking a ban, dumping ROMs, transferring them to a Deck, and setting up emulators, just to play on what is considered an inferior platform for Nintendo Switch games.

Emulator guys try to sell that entire pipeline in one sentence

It's pure fantasy

I mean. I like the Steam Deck. I bought a 1TB OG when they first came out. And I'm looking at the Steam Machine depending on price (I generally love Valve hardware, especially their controllers). It's just the aggressive street evangelism that I don't get.

Is this your first Nintendo console?

Nintendo games NEVER go on sale. There's no point in waiting for one.
Nintendo didn't use to be so greedy, did you know about the Player's choice label that existed until the Wii U for example ?

I do know that Nintendo nearly never do sales but this position is more obvious and ridiculous when you go to the eshop and see 1-2 Switch at 50€ and Hogwarts at 10€...

Play switch 1 games on it or last gen ports at full prize enjoy the ride.
It has more current-gen ports than last-gen ones

Like Yakuza Zero (and with the added content it's kind of a remaster/deluxe version) and Kiwami 2 are last-gen ports, but nothing really else.

I just got early Xmas gifted a Switch 2. This screen is way doper than I was expecting.
Downloading Mario Kart.
What else do I need to do?
Fast Fusion and Bonanza???
OP, this heavily depends if you have Switch 1.

First or, get dbrand or jsaux type case/grip. Switch vanilla is pretty uncomfortable. And get a MicroSD Express card. 256GB is probably ok to start as they are pretty pricey.

Then look up games that got graphics upgrades and that you already either have or can buy on sale. And don't have on other platforms.

Mario Odyssey, couple other Mario games, Kirby, Zelda games, Pokémon Scarlet, etc…. DQ3 is supposed to have a great S2 mode and so does Romancing Saga 2 Remake.

Then you got Western games like Cyberpunk, Hogwarts, Outlaws, and even Skyrim (with caveats on this) and Witcher that run better on the system or are actual decent ports.

it really all depends on the genre you like, what other systems you have and if you have Switch 1.

Also, Nintendo games absolutely go on sale, it's just more rare. You can get Odyssey for like $40 as an example.

Check out eShop for some good deals as well.

I mean this is clearly false. They go on sale just less often and with smaller discounts.

There is also a used market and I bet key cards could be had for even cheaper down the road.
I'm just pissed at eshop. I can't forgive them for putting a game on sale and then only putting it on sale again only 5 fucking years later.

That isn't true. Several are currently 25-33% off which isn't too uncommon. My favorite strategy is save some money for Costco black friday deal of 20% off eshop cards (often other times you can get 10% off), invest a big chunk there, then catch one of these sales. The combined discount is a decent value. Used to work with the vouchers but they seem to have stopped the voucher program.

I didn't buy it. Someone bought it for me.
Thank you all for the serious posts. Some great recommendations in here.

I picked up the Switch 2 versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky in the holiday sale and I've been enjoying both. I know they're older games but I'm enjoying the new play through in handheld mode. Tetris Effect Connected is a Switch 1 game, but it's good on Switch 2 as well.

I have been trying to open enough apps to push the disappointing Switch 2 games off the start screen.

Seeing the Donkey Kong Bananza icon pisses me off because I wasted 30h into it, and the Metroid Prime 4, Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders icons piss me off because I wasted money into them and now have them eternally in my uncleared backlog.

Random thought but the screen is really gigantic compared to the original switch. I fux w it.

Also I'm rediscovering the joy of DEMOS.
Got Sonic Racing, Elliot and Kirby Forgotten Land. Anything else dope? I thought there was a demo for that Cing game??

Let me guess, they're all shit?

Hate how expensive the games are, but Hogwarts is 9 bucks right now. Was tempting. Found the Portal games for 5 bucks. That's worth a replay on handheld.

It's the Switch 1 version, but you can upgrade it for 10 bucks to the Switch 2 version

Or can buy directly the Switch 2 version for 30 bucks
