A New Star Fox 64 recomp released...four minutes ago!

Star fox 64 might not relate to today's gamers, whatever, I have Star fox 64 in my top 20 games all time forever

For me, that I grew up with an N64, it feels so weird and even kinda cursed to see them running so well and looking so nice lol.

In any case, this is amazing. For game preservation, and to help making those games more playable to younger audiences.

Projects like these let people play the games how they remember them running vs how they actually ran haha

Exactly, was decompiled to be the same back end code. So while it looks nicer, and runs smoother. The underlying game is still the same.

It's not the same as some of the old arcade ports during the 16 bit era where devs got a bunch of screenshots and video of the game and had to rebuild it and were guessing at how things worked. This is the same logic. And it can be compiled/ported to whatever future system you desire.

I'm one of those sicko freakos who likes to play at N64 games at the original resolution in emulation. Gopher64 has done the trick so far. The recompilation is really nice though! Agreed on the film grain so I'll be using this version for Star Fox 64 from now on.

What's the difference between this version and the other version?

I love these projects but when there are multiple forks for one game, it gets confusing.

For instance, there are two different recomps for Mario Kart 64. One is compatible with the HD texture/sprite pack and the other has other neat features, like you can disable the distance LOD.

Why not merge all the efforts into a single project so all the features are available in a single "best version" of the game?

Because it's different people with no strings attached whatsoever
