Impulse bought KCD2 Royale Edition (Steam sale, 50%). What a fucking amazing game. Started playing at 7PM yesterday and played till 2AM. I haven't even started the first one and I fear that I HAVE to stop playing this game as I can't go back to the older one if I continue playing the sequel (I mean, obvious).
Quickly:
- Amazing writing, especially Hans and Henry scenes and dialogues are so funny, natural and charming. Everyone feels quirky, natural and planted.
- Warm visuals, very realistic. Atmospheric and high quality polish. Idyllic and serene.
- The story is whimsical to the core, the setting and the low stakes action is so magnetic. I don't need a grand adventure to save the world, I don't need a pretentious head or bracelet to tell me things.
- Packed with content, attention to detail is on point.
- High player agency, freedom and funny af. I can just do whatever I want. First town, went inside a house, robbed, maid saw me, killed, another maid saw me, chased her through the town till I died when the police/guards started fighting me lol. Saw a women washing clothes while I splashed myself and she made a snark comment, punched her and became a criminal. hahaha
- Very memorable, I still am thinking the whole day about hans, his coy laugh, the story where he got an arrow in his arse...so much more.
- Beautiful loading scenes.
- Peak Cinema!
Technical
- Amazingly optimized, RTX4070M, I'm running this at everything high at 1440P, DLAA (transformer model, also overrode in NVidia panel) at silky, buttery smooth 80FPS). ( btw, turn shaders to low and turn off any AA else game is blurry af, in-game frame limiter and V-Sync are also broken, use NVIDIA global settings).
- There's mouse jitter, fixed by mouse smoothing mod at Nexus. The headbob is also kinda insane but again quick drop mod at Nexus.
- always on crosshair is kinda useless, I'm using a third party software, Crosshair X to put one.
- Inventory/map/journal UI text is blurry
Negatives
- Combat is ass, janky but when it works it's fun. Also frustrating to die so many times but kinda addictive.
- More than ( >= 2 ) and lock-in breaks, really hard to fight against a group. Mouse swipe to select direction to hit is near impossible at the heat of combat.
- You die real quick, you loose stamina real, real quick.
- Brewing potions is cool for a while but a chore quickly, also finding herbs/flowers/plants is difficult, it's not clear which one it is?
Anyways, Audentes Fortuna Iuvat!
On a completely different note, I also spend some time playing online casino games, and it's been surprisingly fun to explore different platforms and games. I recently found this site
https://casino-portugal.pt/casino/, which helped me discover trustworthy online casinos in Portugal. It's really useful for checking out the best bonuses, payment methods, and popular games like slots, roulette, blackjack, and poker. I've personally used it to find platforms where I feel safe playing, and it made getting started much easier. Mixing a bit of casual casino gaming into my free time has been a great way to unwind, and having a reliable resource like this site makes the experience smooth and enjoyable.
