What game are you currently playing?

Just started tormented souls 2.
Outstanding sequel, vastly improved everything over the already excellent first game.
Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys old school survival horror

Yeah, it's fucking great. Better than some classic RE even. It's everything you could want from a modern fixed camera horror game. Well, maybe the combat could be better but combat is the least important aspect of these kind of games imho.

Crow Country.

Really good throwback to old PS1 era graphics and aesthetic with modern control sensibilities (you can use tank controls if needed). I had a blast playing this.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I shall give this a try in due time👍

I think the combat is one of the biggest improvement over the first game personally.
You are absolutely correct though, it's fucking great

Death Stranding has a serious pacing problem. Cut about 30% of it and the overall experience would improve significantly. Ironically my favorite part of the game is the deliveries themselves and the game should lean into that more instead of constantly interrupting it. There should be more focused delivery gameplay and far less of the forced set pieces like Episode 4 and Episode 7 and the ending of Episode 9

So Kingdom Come 2 just decided to piss me off a bit with the wedding outfit quest. What is this? So stupid. Just give me clear instructions on what is needed. I just wasted an hour for nothing...

Sundered: EE
A decent little MetriodVainia imo.
Can take a while to get going, but when you unlock some abilities and perks in the skill tree it starts to shine. The combat is really smooth as well, with a hord of enemies on screen at once.
If you can pick it up in a sale, it would be hard to find disappointment with it.

I got Stalker 2 on the Pro in the recent sale. Fuck is this game good! Atmosphere is through the roof!

I thought Indiana Jones would be my GOTY. But I have to give the topspot to Stalker. I love it!

Sonic Origins, it's on sale, it's a collection of the old Sonic games. I'm currently at the end of Sonic 2 (GOAT Sonic game), it's been so many years since playing. It's been a fun Sunday.

Finally started Lies of P which has been on my to play list for a while.
So far really enjoying it, love the setting and the combat feels pretty good, the few bosses I've beaten have been fun too.
The early hours feel very derivative of Fromsoft games, but now I'm starting to unlock some new mechanics (like being able to combine different weapon tips and handles) which are starting to give it a bit of its own personality.

I thought while I have Gamepass, make the most of the subscription, as despite the TON of games on there isn't an awful lot that makes me think instant download, (Mainly kept the subscription for Forza and getting through Indiana Jones...) So I have recently downloaded "Keeper" the game known as the "walking simulator" very intriguing art-style, and the main character being a light-house..

Multiplayer: Battlefield 6 is till my main and probably will be for years.
Single player: Final Fantasy IX and Death Stranding 2.

Still not sure how I feel about Death Stranding. I tried playing the first one two or three times and fell off in a couple hours. My friend convinced me to get DS2 because it fixed a lot of my complaints so I watched a couple videos to get caught up and started it. It's cool but I just don't have the drive to play it. It's not drawing me in.

I played maybe a bit too much cyberpunk this weekend. I'm remembering why I was in love with this game now.

I hope doing a sword fighter character can keep the balance intact this time around. Last time I did hacker and it broke stuff really bad once I could hack through walls. Not broke in a fun way, either. Combat became just finding a place to crouch and waiting for my ram (mp) to slowly fill so I could chip at more guys.

Based! Terminator Resistance was pretty fun. In a perfect world they would manage to get the rights to make a Judge Dredd game. Because they really seem to go to great lengths to make amazing games the IPs they are working on. And they get better with every game.

Agreed, Dredd would be a great project for them. I'd also love them to have a go at a Predator game.

still playing code vein, had to replay before the sequel arrives.
I'm in the mood of post apocalypse, but with supranatural twist (also with ridiculous post apocalypse anime style)
the thing is, i'm too lazy for AAA graphic soulslike akin to true soulslike dark fantasy medieval manner.
so i play this because of the post apocalypse modern world instead : ))

I started Mandragora and it's... meh so far. I might jump to Blade Chimera instead. Mandragora is more on the Soulsvania side than a Metroidvania, and not sure I'm really in the mood for that right now. I could be... maybe. But my biggest issue is the combat is terrible so far. I'll see if it improves as you progress, but the reviews I saw also hammered the combat and I see why. I think I'll do Blade Chimera that decide if I want to jump back to Mandragora.

Dark Souls III
So many Pyro vids out there!

I started a character and grabbed the Claymore. Seems like this vid I'm using uses that for the build. It's a general early game build; after Vordt, I have to get the dude in the cage and then the Fire Ring at Undead Settlement, then upgrade Claymore. The vid ends with the tome in Road of Sacrifices. He doesn't talk much about upgrading Ashen Estus Flask so I have no idea when and if I should be upgrading it...

I see some other vids that go much deeper and farther so I have a lot to figure out!

This vid is way longer and more in depth, but in the first 3 minutes he gets to Vordt and skips some other pickups. It's overwhelming to understand which direction to build this in.

If you like ultra greatswords I recommend Astora Greatsword in the graveyard of the Cathedral of the Deep. It is mid-game though. The real benefit is in the extra reach.

Thank you! I indeed enjoy Ultra and Greatdswords, and despite having an old build and two new builds (Vordt Great Hammer and now a Pyro build), I am definitely feeling DkS3 enough to try another run with Ultra Greatsword!

That was a good game but I'm skipping the sequel

Had some good WAIFUs in it too

Just finished Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment main story. Plot was straight up meh. Ganondorf invaded and everyone is all 'oh nooo' but it felt more like a history lesson than an epic

Zelda's voice though? She sounds like shes auditioning for the world's saddest ASMR channel. Every line is 'Link.. sniffle.. the fate of Hyrule.. choke.. rests on us!''

Link needs to drop that crybaby princess ASAP. Imagine waking up to that every morning. Good thing he's been out cold for 100 years, best nap ever to avoid that daily emotional rollercoaster holy shit.

Gameplay's straight-up ace, though. Musou combat slaps

Just finished Lost Planet (Xbox 360 on Xbox Series X).

-The mechs don't really enhance the game any. You can complete most of the missions (maybe all except the final boss) on foot, and do so with less chance of dying than if you try to use the mechs in each level. Yes, it's a lot slower, but it's honestly more fun.

-The game has Z-tier cinematics that go on forever (but you can skip them). The story and characters are dumb. The only thing good about it is that the Climate Scientists in the game are the evil ones.

-The player character runs so slowly that he makes Alan Wake look like Usain Bolt.

-I didn't discover until the game ended that it can actually be played in first person. I've never heard anyone mention that, nor have I ever seen any screens or clips of it. So I never bothered digging into the menu until I was ready to uninstall it. It probably wouldn't be very good to play like that, but it might have simplified one or two of the boss fights (or maybe not).

It was a dumb and easy game. A decent diversion for a week considering how cheap it was.

5.5/10

FightinCowboy on YouTube is who you want for really well-made Souls walkthroughs.

Tomb Raider Underworld (PC) - Never made it too far in this game and holy crap this camera. I just stopped playing now and I feel dizzy. That's never happened to me before.

I'm playing Sf 5's cringe story mode to unlock fcking Guile, one of the most iconic characters of the franchise. This industry deserves everything that's happening to it.

Commandos Origins: It just keeps getting better. I can't imagine giving this less than a 9/10. Absolutely on par with the best tactical stealth games like Shadow Tactics and Desperados. I'm on level 6 of 14 and I feel like I've already put in like 20 hours and thought I was nearly done. Turns out I'm not even half way. The levels are huge. The stealth options are all similar to the other games, but I think they have more enemies and more complex situations. I'm starting to run into areas now where I have to think 5 steps ahead to get through clean; plan 2 saved actions, manually do a 3rd and trigger the other 2, then move to another character and manually do another action, then swap and do it again. Dropped like 10 guys in 3 seconds last night after about 50 trial and error failures to try and get to 5 steps that work. There's more interiors than I remember in the other games too with a couple large mansions, or towers, and you can cleanly swap the camera vertically between floors. I'm pretty sure I don't even have all the characters yet. The Marine has a damn boat and can swim, which I don't recall having in any of the other games.

I don't know if this game launched rough, but it's fixed now. Highly recommended. This is a meaty stealth game. I think I played for 2 hours last night, and stopped and went to bed. I was still on the same level I started lol.

Halo infinite.

My annual campaign run. Shame that the game didn't receive any story dlc, single player content.

Once again, amazing movement, gunplay, satisfying headshots/hit sounds, grapple and artistic direction. Incredibly well optimized. That custom Slipspace engine runs like a dream.

Absolutely shameless management and corporate policy to sink this franchise.

Halo infinite should have been a paid title with more story dlc. Making it free and pricing the campaign (dlc) at a high price automatically killed any further story expansions as everyone just gamepass'd the short story (if don't collect anything, this is <5 hours) and moved along.

Horrible management of IP but fantastic game nevertheless. 343 nailed the gameplay and can't get enough of it even after playing the campaign 5 times including a full LASO run. ( imo legendary is harder than LASO in this lol ).

The future of Halo now is UE5 stutter remakes of old games, just disappointing and sad.

Turbo Overkill is awesome. I just couldn't take to Blade Chimera or Mandragora. Blade Chimera is driving me nuts with the recharge of the blade ability and how it seems very inconsistent, but maybe I don't understand the mechanics enough, and I just wasn't feeling it. So I tried to go back to Mandragora and the combat is just so fucking awful. To this point, worst I've ever played in any Metroidvania. It's terrible. I have no idea how this got even the reviews it did and they weren't great, they were decent though. So I said fuck it, let's try Turbo Overkill and it's awesome. Having a ton of fun with it.

I am finally working on Hollow Knight for the first time. (I did try out a few times for maybe 5 min from the beginning, but during those days I always had other game that I was working on.)
And coming from regular Igavanias... this one is pretty hard! I wasn't expecting that I will die and will have to come back for my soul. I didn't play any soul games before, so I guess this is something like that?

Beating the Hornet for the first time was pretty difficult - took maybe 5-6 times to beat her. In the end, I think it's more about the mindset that I had - and when I finally relaxed and just observe what's going on properly - it became more or less anticipation and quick attack, retreat, rinse and repeat. With that in mind - don't be frustrated, it's beatable, take your time and don't worry about dying - I was able to defeat the boss for the downward drill move pretty easily in just 2nd try - I just didn't realize it will come back to life again and go for the 2nd round! :(

Only other time that I'm having some issues is whenever there are multiple mini-boss characters attacking you at the same time in a locked room.... One by one, I'm all good - but 3-4 vs poor old me seems unfair! LOL.

Backtracking, and not being able to equip/switch the power up gem/relics is somewhat annoying, but I guess it's like that for intention of making this game harder than normal metrovanias. I can appreciate that. Also, because it feels more difficult than what I'm used to - it forces me to take a break after exploring a small portion of the map. Looking forward finishing the game, and hope I still got the stuff to beat this type of action games..

I started playing Jedi Survivor after finishing Fallen Order. I stuck with the Performance Mode since it worked well in Fallen Order... but I see what people are talking about the cutscenes being very jarring.

I wanted to beat all Final Fantasy games in order to prepare for FFVII Part 3. Beat FF1, FF2, but around FF3 I got bored. The NES era FF games are tediously boring in terms of story and stuff to do. Nothing but boring random encounters and grinding from point A to point B. The SNES era is a lot better in the characterization department, I'll pick them up after playing a little Oblivion for a few days.

I also want to play a lot of action hack and slash games - Ninja Gaiden 2 Remaster, Stellar Blade, Black Myth Wukong, Dark Souls III and Elden Ring.

And a little Serious Sam 4 and Forgive Me Father to spice things up.

Finished RE3 Remake today as my last game for 2025. It looked absolutely stunning on PC but man did the game itself wear off since release. It's super barebones. Wonder if we'll ever learn what happened in dev. No way Capcom intended it to be like this. It feels like it was stitched together last minute.

Shadows of the Damned.

I always wanted to play this one. The PC port is terrible: locked at 60 FPS, can't select the resolution, no graphical options, the gamma is fucked up and key rebinding is done via an external tool which refuses to launch. You can unlock the FPS with SotDFix, but the maximum I could go before the camera would behave weirdly is 120 FPS.

Aside from that, it's a fun short romp, I finished it in 7 hours. It plays well with a mouse/keyboard, the game is solid enough for its short runtime. It's a decent third person shooter that is dumb, a bit clunky but lets itself be played since its hyper focused, has a good style and there is no filler (well, expect that scrolling 2D section).

About to take the plunge and start Dark Souls 2
Any/all advice is appreciated
I tried to play DS2 by myself and man this game is fucking depressing. Majula is nice but I'm not jiving with the setting at all...DS1 I had played along with a couple friends so I enjoyed my time throughout it all, the exhilarating highs and the frustrating lows. If Playing a Dark Souls game by yourself induces such dourness then I don't want a part of it.

Suffice to say, I'm abandoning it. I'll let someone I know who's a loremaster give me a run down of the story.

Replaying Metroid Dread.

RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake were supposed to release as 1 package. But they had a deadline to release and RE3 wasn't finished so it was split off into RE2 and RE3 being separate(also trying to make more money) and the rest of the development was shipped of to M-Two for RE3
and M-Two basically had to start from scratch and it had to release in 2020. Thus, we get RE3 Remake as it is.
