I have been working outside all day. That is a shocker. Only a field goal. 😐
And Miami missed 3 FGs with how windy it was

I haven't watched that Reed kid play all year but ESPN kept telling people how great he was and I tell ya, he didn't impress me at all and with the game on the line he throws into triple coverage in the end zone to end the game

Snoop Dog has a bowl named after him now

Pop Tarts Bowl was peak bowling football.

Just remember, notre dame, who hasn't won a championship since the Reagan administration, declined the invite because they believed it to be below them.

which is stupid. If nothing else, coaches get 15 practices with players and a head start on the next season.

100%. The extra 15 practices far outweigh any other reason for or against playing in the bowl game.

Like I understand why schools who fired their coach skip these games if they're given the opportunity, but that's it.

I love how unhinged the Pop Tarts Bowl is. Mascots were observed:
  • Attacking a field goal post
  • Barbequing pop tarts on a grill
  • Using toasters as barbell weights
  • Force feeding pop tarts to a man while making soft grunting noises
  • Taking part in a sacrifice ritual where they were cooked alive and then devoured by the winning team
  • One abandoning above ritual to go on a journey of self-discovery, setting up a narrative arc for next year

Being an IU alum, I am obviously a diehard Hoosier fan but feel really weird about this game today

After the run they have had and just seeing them in this game and Mendoza having won the Heisman I am pretty content with this season.

I am having several IU friends and family texting and telling me how nervous they are, but I am oddly calm

I am also a massive Big Ten fan but there are 2 teams I can't really root for and that is Ohio State in Football so I am not disappointed they lost and Purdue in Basketball

Crazy stat, teams with a bye are now 0-6 in this current CFP format
It's amazing how the CFP keeps finding new ways to ruin college football

Turns out having a bye means a team goes 26-29 days without playing football and it's bad when this happens

If Indiana and Georgia both lose today they will need to change the format. There is no way the CFP can keep letting their 1-4 seeds keep losing forever

Also if IU keeps the lead and wins, maybe the CFP committee should reconsider who they're putting in the top 4. Maybe the top 4 ranked teams aren't actually the best 4? Did Ohio State really look like the #2 team in the nation last night?

Ohio State was the undisputed #1 team in the nation until they ran into Indiana in their very last game of the regular season and then Miami...

The regular season becoming more and more meaningless is a predictable consequence of how CFB works now with a playoff system and 136 teams which is far too many to accurately assess the relative strengths and weaknesses on a yearly basis

It really doesn't help that all the power conferences are turning into mega conferences now. Texas A&M wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs if their conference schedule didn't consist of the 7 bottom SEC teams (who were almost all horrible, and I say that as a lifelong fan of one of those current bottom feeders ) + Texas. BRING BSCK THE SMALLER, regional conferences.

But that's my point, why were they the undisputed number one team all season? Like most teams anymore, they don't play a lot of quality opponents, it's all just based on style points and feelings of the voters.

You're right, there are too many teams to have a proper playoff without eliminating a bunch right out of the gate, but I really feel seeding by votes (not to mention the voter bias) isn't the right play. How it gets fixed, though, I'm not really sure.

Indiana, thank you for beating the absolute shit out of the gumps.

Now I just need Georgia to get their asses beat.
