So I watched some of this showcase after it came out, and I gotta say that it started off fine but my annoyance level grew as the talking droned on and on with almost no substance to it. You got all these content creators talking and sometimes talking over each other to the point that you're saying to yourself 'be quiet oml' and they seem ill prepared as to what they should be asking some of these developers.



For something that lasted about three and a half hours, I feel like alot of it was filler content that didn't need to be in the show. I also feel like alot of the content creators that were in this show aren't really hardcore gamers/genuine 'maybe unfair criticism' and so that's why they might've looked disinterested at points during the show which also hurts the entertainment value of said show. Ultimately thought their was too much yapping and not enough actual interesting content, and i hope they make improvements for next year.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said, but I'm more than willing to be gracious since this was their first showing. Hopefully this becomes an annual thing and they iron out all the mistakes made this year.

Ya i'm cutting them slack cause it's there first attempt at doing this and i'm sure they were nervous/not as prepared because it's there first showcase. I don't think it was a bad show by any means though and i'd give it like a 7 or 7.5 outta 10. I did appreciate that their were no ads and i do like getting more gaming related content.

Scrap the trailers and go right to the devs and most of them have low charisma builds and couldn't make their game sound exciting if their lives depended on it. Then the gaming hosts try to spice things up with humor or banter then that ends up being the most painful part of it all. Then you have a random appearance from Randy Pitchford and you just want to quit gaming completely and become a monk or something. Basically you have a captive audience irrationally hoping to get a random Half-Life 3 announcement and they have to sit through a lecture about the wheat physics in the next farming simulator.

I actually really liked what I saw. I skip past every bit of the talking and there was a lot of it, but what was shown wasn't too bad. Definitely games I was interested in. I hope they do it again.

Also that chick was hot but boy she asked dumb shit.

When Luke Stephens is the most intellectual person in room you know its going to be a slog at times. In their defence their job is to offer surface level entertainment, not critique, but even then it was difficult to watch.

I don't think the tough questions will ever be asked, they probably get the questions from the publishers of sufficient size and the smaller devs are like someone else said often low in charisma and since the show makers are just hype merchants with no ability (or desire) to ask difficult or even relevant questions.

It wasnt terrible, they did sort of gloss over issues or concerns with the games, probably because they dont want to sound too negative.

Someone is paying for this show somewhere, do we know who? It might shed more light on whether it'll continue like this next year or stay as is.

I watched them all through a couple of times, then I started skimming them and I lost faith after the dragon game part and skipped them completely.

It's not that simple in my opinion. Pretty much every studio backed by a big publisher will have PR people making sure that nothing slips up during the interviews, leading to many questions without answers. Small devs often have major communication / social skills problems and even if you obtain some interesting info it's still going to be awkward as hell.

I remember how Mike Pondsmith had a slip up confirming two cities in Cyberpunk 2, but that's a very rare case and he probably didn't have mandatory PR training given how important he is to the franchise.
