2026 Reminder - Don’t just work and sleep, find and act on your passion

It's easy to get caught in the work/sleep routine with internet/TV filling the gaps in between, if you're stuck in this rut (no matter how old you are) you can get out.

Have you found your passion GAF?
Are you living your best life?

For that I need energy, which requires atleast 2 hrs a day dedicated to exercise. Not to mention keeping myself motivated to eat that 2500calorie daily.

For that I need money, that means after 10hrs work day, go home and skill up/study for another 2hrs for the future.

Yeah I'm gonna die only doing this. 🙂

✅Work: got a job I love
✅Savings: building them up steadily
✅Sleep: 6-8hrs a night
✅Diet: cook a lot and mostly eat home cooked food that is healthy
❌Diet: around healthy stuff I have been snacking a lot recently on sugary poision
❌Gym/Exercise: only gone once this year and I got injured so need to get back into the rythm of regular exercise
❌Living: am renting and need to get a mortgage

Mostly living my best life but need to work on those 3 X's this year and soon.

Sometimes just not in the mood, so GAF or YouTube is on order. On paper it sounds great to maximise each hour, but sometimes you don't want to do that/any hobby. Rest in many forms, is important.

Been doing this for years now. Have a job I like, sleep very little to maximise my time (6 hours max), try to do things I love every free minute (gym, gaming, reading, watching movies).

I guess the most important thing to keep in mind here is that there is no perfect like. We are not meant to be happy all the time. Take the bad days with gusto cause you need them in order to have the good days.

Start a dividend stock portfolio and grow that snowball. This time next year and every year afterwards the compounding effect will grow exponentially and you will be financially free from your miserable work-to-live existence.

Imagine, clearing your gaming backlog while dividends cover your bills and living expenses. That is the life I will be living in approximately 12-18 months.

Are you about to retire-retire or are you gonna try some sort of near subsistence level FIRE thing? 'Cause starting a stock portfolio right now it's gonna take quite a while before you can live off the dividends.

I've found that the key to staying happy for me is to always have at least one hobby with really lofty goals that I can daydream about when everything else gets tough. And then make sure to do at least a little work on it every week no matter what. Even if all I did that week was a little research or watch a video guide. It helps me relax knowing that I'm working towards something big, even if I my goals might be outlandish.

I've been building it since 2016. Took a huge chunk of it out and paid off my house entirely, a long with all my other outstanding personal debts and my wifes. Then rebuilt it again from scratch in 2020 while the market was tumbling. Been building it heavily since, so 6th year in and in another year or so I should be clearing $4.5k a month in dividends which is enough to replace my job entirely.

LAst year I lived like a college student. Noodles, frozen food and batch cooking, games only in sale prices, no clothes spending, no vacations, just ploughed 80% of my income into stocks. This year I'm doing the same for a couple more months then coasting to the finish line. I been working hard

That's a crazy level of savings to build a 50k/yr payout off a 50k/yr salary in just 5-6 years. You must invest better than Pelosi :P

Though crypto and nvidia can do that, I suppose.

Damn straight. At a young age, this is huge.

In 2026, my goal is to actually enjoy some of those dividends. You can take it too far and not enjoy the life and time you are given.

Nah man, I am not doing anything special. 15 dividend stocks, average yield around 8.8% currently. I also have a high world index dividend paying ETF.

I just kept buying and reinvesting all the dividends. The actual value of the portfolio is not 'crazy high' you may expect, but the dividend payouts are juicy as hell

Fuck it, the actual numbers;

In total since 2016 March 14th I have invested $278,020.51

The current portfolio value is $536,421.41. Paying out currently $3,668.40 per month. It will go up this year as the companies raise dividends, or may go down if they get cut. But I will be able to hopefuly save another 50-80k in the next 1.5 years and invest it, putting me over that $4.5k mark. All being well, I can then retire at 38.

Around 3 months ago, the total portfolio value was well over $650k, but it took a big hit as a lot of my core holdings dropped in value because of the tarrifs and end of year slump.. but the dividends did not get cut. So who cares

I don't know what my passion is anymore and I often wonder what's the point while driving to work everyday. My weekly D&D game keeps me sane, I think.

Won't keep you happy for long. Mark my words.

I'm currently severly out of shape and due to that I have some health problems. Few days ago I got back into cardio. Let's see how long it lasts.

The only reason I quit working out was that I started having heartaches due to pushing myself too hard. And I fucking loved pushing myself to my limits as some sort of a game, but it ended in a failure. Currently planning on buying some new kettlebells, dumbbells for strenght training. I hope I won't fucking push myself too hard as it is really difficult for me to determine when I should stop.

It's not like I hate exercise, I fucking love the high I get after working out. Why not a Gym? I'm a socially awkard person and I fucking hate retarded loud kids who recently usurped the only gym in my town.

When this shit is sorted out, only then will I try to follow my dreams.

I earn a lot of money, I exercise a lot, I'm in the best shape of my life, I own my house, in a relationship with a family and I'm writing a novel, so yeah I'm living my best life

lmao bro I been working my ass off for 30 years I will be happy as a pig rolling in shit trust me!

I'm so done with work life. I want to focus on my kid, my wife, my dogs, my hobbies. I have plenty wholesome shit to keep me happy.

I can't complain. I'm 55 and I plan on working until I'm 70. Not because I have to. Because I want to.

I just hope I have enough marbles rolling around in my head to get there.

Hard to have passion when you find out you're only one year younger than, Topher.

I have no money and no energy. I'm stuck in a job and I'm too old to change it.
I'll probably die working and poor.
While it would be easy to say "Just make a change" I know it's not that simple and understand how adversity and routine can keep us bogged down.
You have my sympathies.

Remember while we do interact with each other in here we're all strangers.

"I have 2 mansions, a yacht and working on my 3rd novel" 😊

Myself I've basically been in a prison of my own body for over 15 months enduring horrible chemo treatments.
But since September I'm doing better.
I no longer need to piss in a Gatorade bottle in my living room because standing up causes me to get dizzy and fall on my ass after 30 seconds.
I had 2 concussions but hey the treatment is working so it's all worth it in the end.

But I do understand now people refusing treatment and choosing to let go silently into the night.

In conclusion I'm not living my best life but I'm doing my goddamn best to get there again.

Have you ever lived a carefree live for a prolonged period of time? I'll give you 6 months.

Not sure if I have a passion aside from playing games. It's the only thing that keeps me going and away from getting depressed and its not that hard to play games and escape reality. I want a lot of things especially freedom from job, but thats impossible. I want to travel, but my body hates motion. I want to save up, but I always want to buy that game. I need my own place, but prices keep going higher. There is always something in the way, if not my own vices, something else, but I also noticed that as long as I remain content, bad things don't happen that often? Dunno.

why do you say that good sir?

The longest period I have gone with out work (extended vacation) was 3 months. I toured France and Spain with my ex, before spending around a month at home chilling. It was an amazing time tbh

Goals this year for me are:
- continue to improve my french language skills.

- determine if I want to continue to maintain or get bigger in the gym. Cardio remains secondary but is done after each workout except for leg day.

- invest more in the market (I just sold one of stocks for a 50% gain in a year. Another i'm up 70% and its not an AI stock).

- career wise, figure out if I want to continue to climb the corporate ladder or cruise and enjoy my work-life balance. Kids are expensive though…

It's the hedonic treadmill. Don't bust you ass off anymore (work to live, not live to work) but find something productive to do. You have been warned.

Well, going to assume you don't have children, as at the moment I am lucky if I get maybe 2-3 hours per day with my daughter. And 6 hours on a weekend or less.

That going to increase alone will make me a very happy dad. I do plan on doing something to keep my mind active. I really always wanted to be a beekeeper, and have been buying equipment already and doing a lot of research. I follow a lot of beekeeper content creators too and looking forward to dabbling myself into a home-hive setup. It'ts quite a comitment and challenging to pass the time. We'll see!
