It is time for devs to stop treating console gamers like babies

I'm not necessarily saying it is. Never did. I'm saying it is a possibility and I don't understand why you're so certain and arrogant about it not being the case.

YOU CAN INSTANTLY SNAP THE CAMERA TOWARDS EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DIRECTION YOU WANT...

and we are not talking about a theoretical other game. we are SPECIFICALLY talking about GTA3 and VC. both games allow you to

A: insta snap your camera towards every direction you want

B: has a cinematic car cam that randomy changes perspective and cameras positions, from close up to far away and above you.

C: has a camera recenter button that turns your camera towards EVERY direction you want within less than a second (faster than the manual analog stick mapped camera in some games)

D: has this fully functionally implemented on a fan made port on the fucking Dreamcast!!!

E: was fully functionally implemented on PC, which had a lower minimum spec than the Xbox's spec (which was my original argument since the XBox version came after the PC version, and after the free cam and free aim was implemented)

F: the game has a fully freely controllable camera IN ALL VERSIONS. the issue being that on console you were forced into first person when touching the right stick, which was insanely weird.

it is not arrogant to say that, given all these pieces of evidence, it is unfathomably stupid to think, or even consider, that having the camera controllable on the right stick would be a performance related issue.
it's simply the objective reality that thinking this as a real possibility is stupid. ESPECIALLY if you have played the game yourself.

we don't need more proof than that. if this was a court case the jury wouldn't even need 1 minute to all unanimously come to a verdict.

I guess Steam Deck doing it system wise and for every game must be some sort of black magic. Also fixes for numerous games and guides how to unlock or set the framerate.

The best solution here would be a commitment from the developer that they'll have a free next gen patch. It wouldn't need to be crazy pushing the hardware. Tell us you are going to make a ps6 version and show what you have in mind for settings that already exist in the pc version anyhow. It' not a terribly unreasonable thing to ask for.

The game was developed for the PS2 along with all the initial design decisions that went with it. No idea why they didn't later add it on xbox (parity?) just as I have no idea why they removed camera options like cinematic and top down in the Definitive Edition (PC and Console).

Nobody is saying that snapping or moving a cam isn't possible. I'm saying how do you know that the design decisions weren't based on the engine/hardware? Why are you acting so sure about this? I gave another example too. The game had severe ghosting especially at night and panning wasn't that pleasant on the 480 interlaced output at sub 30fps. The game didn't look particularly good when the camera was moving around fast on an actual PS2. So how do you know they didn' consciously decide that snapping mechanic and a smooth camera would be preferred over the ability to move the cam freely based on that? As an example they prevented running in interiors due to the camera limitation too. Does it matter if a mod enables that again? It's still originally a conscious design decision based on that limit.

It's funny you mention the cinematic cam because that too was born from a design decision on a hardware limitation of the PS2. Obbe wanted to skip the train rides in the game because you're completely passive and bored but loading the next station would have been an issue on a PS2 due to the DVD streaming. So to make train rides more interesting he created the cinematic cam just for that. He then implemented it into the car chase for fun. If the game could have loaded the next station quicker/instantly (say on a HDD of a OGxbox/PC) you might never have even got that view at all.

Play the original version on Switch 2 the way we play 360 games on Series S/X, some games just work better without upgrades, if Nintendo doesn't want you to experience that then it's a scam.

All games should at least have the option to uncap, or set custom cap for framerate, so future hardware will benefit. If we could uncap every switch 1 game on Switch 2 and get 60fps that would be a huge improvement, as it is there's only a limited number of unpatched titles that see a big performance benefit like this (Ni No Kuni 2, Dragon Quest Builders 2)

Yes, because PC games are exactly the same as console games... :pie_eyeroll:

Read the OP, he's specifically talking about console games.
