Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Teaser Trailer

Imaging wasting that amount of money, that amount of time, just to release a free episode.
Technically with streaming services, everything is free. You can just stack endless free trials forever on most of the services

Many people who do pay "service hop" and sub to one at a time, consume all the content they want, and move on

And then there's the fact that streaming has actually made sailing the sevens seas much easier than before when content had to be ripped from physical media and often recompressed into a smaller treasure chest before being set adrift for passing sailors to fish out of the ocean

This is one of several reasons why Hollywood is currently facing an existential financial crisis

I don't understand how these shows don't just immediately redpill everyone. Certainly anyone over 30 that still has a vague memory of what things used to be like.

I watched it. It's slop. Insufferable teen drama with the basic modern audience archetypes.

There's no sign of the Star Trek promise in it. It just all feels completely off, expensively cheap.

We don't deserve you - hopefully you will recover one day

Everything you see about this show looks like it was made by AI for a meme to mock modern Trek on the net.

It really is anti TV, made by people who hate Trek to its core.

Arrow season 1&2 are some of the best television you can get.
No lie. I was highly dubious of the whole thing and that first ep of Arrow got me hooked on the berlanti-verse for like 5 years or more.

They really need playlists on these streaming apps (do they not because of that guy that tried to sue all the podcasters because he thought he had a patent on the playlist concept?) that lets you go through the entire interconnected arrowverse in proper release order. Trying to jump back and forth between all the shows to time it just right for the crossovers became exhausting. I've no idea if those Chicago Med/Fire/PD/mechanic/plumber/housewife shows tie in to each other in similar ways, they probably do and could do it as well.

I love stuff like The Wire and Better Call Saul but sometimes its just nice to disengage your brain and be entertained. And god dam did that show know what it was and make me laugh.

Botox the show. Nobody had an expression beyond mildly surprised. Helped that all the birds were smoking hot and Arrow fucked all of them.

Holy hyperbole.

It was good tv for cw standards but season 2 was already a small downgrade from season 1 imo, slade was a better villain but the season wasn't as tight and fight coreographies got a bit worse.

Still eons better than season 3 and onward.

"I will save this city and you from your non hyperbolic statements!"

The bit in season 1 where the missile fired but did a 180 mid air is some of the best TV ever. Fight me.

Still inferior to the first 5 season of supernatural if you ask me.
I see your superwhatever and raise you BSG season 1.

Then again if we are talking trash TV then you have not lived unless you are a Grimm enjoyer

Characters do not have flaws, they are there to lecture the viewer on how to think properly. Every situation is just an opportunity to pass on ideology.

Come on, the dramatic arc of "I know something you NEED to know, but I can't tell you because I want to protect you, and now I'm lying about it and you found out anyway and now you are mad at ME!" repeated over and over and over wasn't enough for you??? :P

I grew up on Dynasty, I live for that shit.

( i had enough by season 2).

Candice Patton (Iris) was so damned fine in The Flash.
I was at a con once at a Flash panel and some catholic priest asked her if she felt the "Sibling romance" storyline was immoral.

She just looked at him and, with a totally straight face, said "well, I thought it would be ok and that the audience would understand that we weren't blood related because he was white and I'm, you know, I'm BLACK" to which the crowded cheered and that guy just vanished away ::P

Of course this was well before the multi-racial/color wheel casting trend where now it is NOT entirely clear that a black presenting girl and a white presenting boy are not supposed to be half, or even full, siblings. Hell, I was always kinda waiting for some storyline where Allen's dad did the dirty with Iris's mom and she was in fact his half sister (or her dad did his mom and raised the kid as his own) just to throw yet more barriers to them just being happy together.

Then of course they threw this GODDESS into the mix and wow, coulda gone so so wrong :P

Never watched bsg, i was never much into star trek\bgb stuff when i was younger.

Grimm wasn't even as bad as like half of the sify series or many cw series.

You may wanna watch black flag if you like that chick...

Also an annoying cunt.

Get involved in BSG if you are struggling for something to watch. It drops off in later seasons but holy shit the early stuff is up there with the best sci-fi ever.

I was up and down on BSG -- but the FTL jump from the Galactica into atmosphere, and then jumping out is STILL one of my most favorite things ever.

Seems like what the veteran said was true. The fat weird woman is a hologram of a 4 months old baby...playing as a 16(I guess?) year old character.

Syfy in the day had some solid (for the times) shows. Invisible Man, Dresden, Eureka, Warehouse 13, of course endless Stargate, Tremors.

It used to be pretty regular friday/saturday night viewing for me (and a sad testament to my dating life sometimes :P

Grimm was fun, though stretched a bit. I just to love this guys sweaters though, as a life long southerner that PAcific Northwest chilly damp vibe was always appealing

and of course the show had the DELICIOUS Bree Turner, who I had a crush on since her MTV days

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of you on that one :P

Black Sails, Spartacus, Banshee, Strike Back, Davinci's Demons, that era of masculine showmaking is long gone, I fear......
Even Black Sails handled the homosexuality more... normal and masculine. Not beating you over the face with flamboyance and "on the nose" 4th wall crap.

Dude was the best character in the show.

God, how I love those endless fights on Banshee.
Sometimes I find myself wondering for a one-time reunion mini-series, but it would be destroyed by the current mentality that infects the streaming/TV company boardrooms.

Jesus the first 4 were so good (not all the seasons but the majority of them), never watched the fifth one.

Banshee had better 1vs1 fights than 80% of movies.

I give it a week before they roll out the "We tried something new, fresh, exciting, innovative, courageous, inclusive, progressive, and have I mentioned fresh? But the tiny handful of hateful toxic men completely shut us down with their mean words and memes" PR campaign. Naturally leading me to wonder where the hell all those fans of "new, fresh, and progressive" are if it's just a couple of us that don't like the show?

Whatever gives you that idea?
