Random thoughts.

Holy crap, it's just making shit up.

-Never participated in a no new games annual backlog challenge (I may have posted in those threads)
-Not once have I referred to my backlog as a "Pile of Shame" (you can do a search on here to verify)
-I've never played Magic Carpet, or suggested it be remade
-interest in gaming industry budgets and trends? Sure. "Tracking the Steam Machine's release?" Also, sure. But this seems pretty horoscope-y and broad
-I mAkE a No DaY oNe ExCePtIoN fOr ReMeDy GaMeS. For Alan Wake only, and that's because it was a TPS, OTS action horror, not because it's Remedy. I'm generally a patient gamer, but I buy around 3-5 new games per year.

In a way, I'm glad it's so far off the mark.
I asked Gemini (first time using it ever) to tell me about me and 1/3 was correct, 1/3 was the opposite 1/3 was completely fabricated lol.

I try not to be sentimental about material things but in the span of the last 18 months both of our automobiles that got us through the worst period of our lives had catastrophic failures. Both have since been replaced. Those cars took us from Virginia to Idaho and back to Oklahoma with everything we owned packed inside them. I'm a little sad to know they're both scrap now.

My girlfriend of 4 years broke up with me yesterday. It was a long way coming, but still: Fuck, it hurts so bad.
We live together and I'm currently on sick leave since I'm dealing with burnout from working and pursuing a degree on the side. Working myself to the bone. Now this on top.
It hurts like hell. Anxious, tired, worried, alone, afraid.

It finally happened: The anti-capitalist podcasters I listen to in spite of their politics just had a "State of the Union" podcast explaining (i.e., self-rationalizing) why they're increasing their tiered subscriber prices.

Yesssss...join us evil realists mwahahaha

Old Simpsons is so good.

Edit: lol, just noticed a Simpsons gif in above posted as I was typing that. The simulation at it again with the co-inky-dinks...

Gotta love how the new trend on the internet to dismiss opinions or articulated discussion is to simply call the person a "bot" or accuse them of using ChatGPT.

So sorry some of us had the intellectual capacity to pay attention in school where we learned how to write long form while citing sources. I'll be sure to dumb it down next time. 🙄

Idiocracy is getting here way too fast.

It feels like our country is truly out of control. I wish something could be done immediately.

This may skew too far into politics and for that my apologies in advance.

Assuming you mean the current state of affairs in the US, something could be done immediately. State governors and city leaders could instruct state and local law enforcement to assist with DHS, CBP, and ICE enforcement just as they did for 8 years under President Obama.

Everything being done now was done under Obama. The difference? He wasn't Trump, so media and politicians turned a blind eye. I remember when a few media outlets found the courage to report the deplorable conditions at some of DHS's deportation facilities under Obama but the wider media response was silent. Then, shortly after Trump took office in 2017, the narrative became "Oh my God, Trump keeps kids in cages." and the media that had once been silent were now plastering those Obama-era images everywhere, attributing them to Trump.

Everything could calm down immediately if the states would help the government enforce federal immigration law like they did from 2008-2016, instead of getting behind their respective pulpits and whipping up a frenzied mob. (Edit: That also applies to the opportunistic politicians and media on the other side using these events to incite their supporters toward anger and violence as well.)

You can always tell people's agenda when they start talking about the past and trying to bring up other presidents when you're talking about right now.
But like you said, let's not get into politics.

I have no agenda other than calling out hypocrisy. I thought DHS' behavior back then was bad, just as I think it is bad now. But back then I was in the minority. Hell, I was called a racist and a bigot on socials when I took issue with immigration enforcement because how dare I question Obama?!

My only point is it's hard for me to take either side seriously when their opinion changes like a weathervane without any hint of self-awareness. Things that were good then, suddenly bad now. Bad then, suddenly good now. And usually the only thing difference between the two is which party in office. 🤷

i have a job interview this friday. i haven't told anyone at my work yet in case i don't get it. the job i have now i've been in for 2 years and this job i've applied for is the next step up and the pay would be a 46% increase!

over christmas i just thought it might be time for a change so applied for it. i'm good at my job (mostly) and i've spent 12 years at that location so it would be hard to say goodbye to the people i work with but of course i need to think of myself.

i'll be happy if i get it but just worried because it will be a huge change. that said, i'm not getting any younger and again feel like i need the change both mentally/physically.

My friend I wish you well. A woman can often be the ruin of a man. But a good one can improve things to no end.

I don't know the details, but if you are going thru all that and she up and leaves.....maybe that was for the best.

In 1967 the (US) federal minimum wage, when working a standard 40 hour work week, would buy 1.58 ounces of gold. Today, to buy that same 1.58 ounces a week, would take a wage of $197.15 an hour (or $410,000 a year).
That is to say, people earned the gold equivalent of $197.15 an hour today's money back in 1967 on minimum wage (laborer, fast food worker, etc) and they (the federal reserve and greedy bankers) took it from us.

Drunk on whatever day it is today. It's a work week but it's ok....I'm snowed in. No more drink though, which sucks. So here we go!

1. I think it is a shame how many are ok with Trump. I just don't understand. People are ok with the nonsense pardons, with the meme coin ripoff, the phone ripoff? (Isn't that illegal?) WTF is wrong with these people? I'm not even going to mention EVERYTHING ELSE.

2. Why isn't anyone doing anything other than press conferences and public statements? Take him out back behind the shed already.

3. It's not just him. Take a look around. Companies want to get rid of you for AI....which doesn't work that great, but they sure are trying by making RAM and storage expensive. WTF.

4. There really isn't a numbered list, I'm drunk remember?

5. Who is actually ok with ICE? I don't mean fake bots on twitter (I know its called X, but it is twitter) Seriously, who is ok with that other than racists or people eager to do harm to other human beings? If you are in it for the money, remember who you are working for. Maybe actually go after criminals, not people trying to earn an honest living. Too much risk in that though, they might actually be up against people who intend to do them harm.

6. Really...I am tired folks. I am merely an 80s child. I expected silly things like racism to be gone by now, instead we have somehow gone backwards. Removing history, re-writing history. Using technology to LIE, make sure you don't actually own a damn thing with all this streaming subscription bullshit. RUINING my favorite things from childhood, like Transformers, TMNT, Star Trek, Star Wars....and so on.

7. I guess that's enough for now.

I appreciate it. Almost a week has passed and the initial pain is giving way to numbness. I'm still on sick leave until thursday and will discuss further actions with my shrink tomorrow.
Random thought: Good things can happen during crisis. I have reached out to so many friends I haven't talked to in forever and received very loving support by them and my family. It does feel nice. People, reach out to others, you are not a burden and people actually do care.

My daughter and I drove by our local prison this morning and we saw a dwarf in a prison jumpsuit climbing down the outside of the prison wall.

I thought to myself, "Huh, that's a little condescending."

My car is on the verge of a breakdown. It's been behaving very strange the last couple of months, with difficulties starting it, and I don't have the money or desire to turn it in to a bodyshop for repair. It's probably not even worth it due to it being something wrong with the engine or some shit that would cost a fortune to fix. I'm riding this fucking thing to the wheels fall off. Goddamn hunka junk!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

could be our galaxy as long time ago the galaxy would have been far far away from where we are now

I just had the misfortune of being reminded of the '' mendrawingwomen '' sub, I wonder what the reaction would be if a similar sub was made but it was people nitpicking and hating on every depiction of a mildly attractive or shirtless hot guys in media lmao.
It'd instantly get labelled an incel sub but the reverse is just a-okay?

Honestly, I'd subscribe just to see the outrage. Bet it would suddenly be called harassment.

Reddit is full of double standards especially in regards to gender. Anything a straight male finds attractive, they will look for ways to shut down that subreddit or to invade it with women that straight men find unattractive. Or they just start posting gay porn on that straight subreddit. It's gotten super obnoxious now

That "Mendrawingwomen" subreddit is super annoying due to the double standards. There's another one where they deride male authors on the way they write female characters or on the way they write sex scenes. And I'm always tempted to ask them, so what, it's fine if a lot of female authors nowadays write shitty male characters just for them to be the female sexual desire? It just is total double standards on that site. I only use that site for the porn but it would be super funny if someone else came in that was super anti woke bought the site and started to enforce the rules equally

The hopes and dreams of people long ago were as weak and formless against the jaws of nature and circumstance as ours. Their names and circumstances are lost to time, but the seeds of their hopes and dreams live on in our bones and steel.

i keep changing browsers.

originally was using Firefox then tried Brave. moved to Perplexity's Comet then to Chrome. Back to Comet. And now back at Firefox.

chrome was OK. i tried Comet because of the AI automation thing but it's too slow. i mean where you ask it to do something and it controls the browser. also the performance was very slow. scrolling pages was awful.

now back at Firefox. probably just gonna stick with it.

I had a very bizarre nightmare last night, it was raining and I noticed there were piles of mud building up outside the window.
Quite weird didn't think much about it, then I heard a crack and I looked at the window and it had built up so high it was pushing against the window almost shattering it.
Then finally it covered the whole world I assume and caved in my roof and drowned me in mud.

Why mud lmfao?
Completely random.

Edit: I wonder if it's the sleep pills I notice some really bad reactions to them if I take them multiple days in a row especially.
Weird nightmares and feeling like I am awake but can't actually get up is another one of them.
