Marathon Releases March 5 '26 - $39.99

In Helldivers you can earn the currency to buy the battlepasses in game for free while playing. Does Marathon have in-game currency you can find during matches?
No it doesn't. So it has a similar system to warbonds, but there are premium items on it too, not just free items. You need to buy the BP to unlock those

Can you always just 'select' a shell or do you have to buy one (like in Hunt Showdown where there's free tiers and paid tiers of hunters).

Here is the 4k video

Good cinematic, let's hope the game features many of these. But I assume is going to have only a few of them, including these very short ones to introduce each runner class, plus equivalent ones for factions, etc.

Tried highguard... already uninstalled. CAN THIS GAME BE OUT ALREADY

Even tho there was massive hate, almost 100k tried it so this bodes well for marathon free weekend imo, especially since marathon is actually a dope ass game

52k in game as of this post, ergh. I played one round, I didn't hate it. I found the fact that it is 3v3 very weird. The maps are huge and finding the enemy team to fight is an effort. I might play it a bit to pass the time until March though. 🤷‍♂️ I've been starving for something to play and it's new at least.

Goddammit I was hoping they'd be daily this week. Destroyer vid was so good. Lots of little details to appreciate.

Trust me I have excellent taste. It's awesome.

The only question marks that remain are if they can nail the seasonal loop and balance.

At the very least this will be the best game you play this year for 50 hours.

Yeah i hope their seasonal thing and post launch support will be good. I mean bungie has a 10+ year experience on this front so hopefully they know what they are doing. I also really curious about the changes made since we last played it. It was 3 months ago at this point. You are on the NDA discord so you probably saw some new shit. I only noticed the slightly different UI fom the small videos

I'm just wondering what the time investment to hit endgame will be. I've never been one of those gamers who puts thousands of hours into a single multiplayer game. A couple hundred is a lot for me. This might be the game to change that (Destiny might have been the game to change that, but I missed the boat on that one), but I'll need to wait and see what the grind is like. I'm expecting something hardcore but hopefully not ludicrous. I really want to make it to that seventh vault.

I think there was a lvl 50 requirement to take on the Ship in the test so not to bad depending on were they settle on the grind.

Stab in the dark from me but a 50 hour commitment should get you there.

After giving high guard a chance and finding out that fucking game is a 3v3 pvp game, im worried about marathon. lets hope there is a big PvE component here. I really dont want to spawn and get shot in the face every five seconds like i did in highguard yesterday.

You won't. It's not non-stop gunfights. The bit that I played definitely had lulls in between the action. PVE is not usually forced, you can always retreat and fuck off somewhere else. I'm not sure how many teams spawn per map but they're spread out enough where you can get yourself situated before any fights break out. You can even get in and out without encountering any fights if you really wanted to.

Highguard is made for the conflict, if the maps were smaller or the teams were 4v4 it would be better I think, because ppl would know what they're going in to.

If you looking for PvE, dont even try marathon. Its a PvP game. Its also a lot slower paced than highguard for example. You can go on for minutes without finding anyone

2 map is available at the start, 3rd map opens up at lvl 20, that was around 20 hours of gameplay for me i think in the beta and the 4th endgame map that comes out shortly after launch will have a lvl 50 requirement. That will be like 50+ hours

Well I redeemed my deluxe pre-order key from GMG last night so I'm locked in. Haven't played the game before but you guys are convincing me that it'll be worth it. Can't wait.

This game isn't 3v3.

If anything its 3v3 v me thats what you need to be worried about.

It's a real shame that single player campaigns in fps games are dying because I really like the general look of this game.
Its not a shame. Single player campaigns barring a few outliers offer noting to the table.

Aside from Halo CE, TF2 and maybe a couple of others then they are nothing more than an after thought

You can play the game solo. How well... we'll see.

One thing I am wondering about is whether Bungie would consider doing an offline mode eventually. Or if that is even realistic.
