Highguard |OT| Mount up and raid with me (Is this the Apex of hero shooters?)

The sniper rifle rechambering speed is far too slow. It's almost entirely pointless until late game as higher chance of getting legendary version. The game badly needs some kind of progression too. Base defending needs a buff imo.

I think shotguns also need some kind of buff. it can take 3 direct hits at close range to kill someone and both the pump and reload animations are too slow.

I think this game is a solid 7/10 for a F2P launch game. But in 2026 that's not good enough to pull people away from other F2P games.

Game mechanics: 9/10 (guns, movement, animations, overall feel)

Game design: 5/10 (you bet everything on 1 mode that has some serious flaws making half the match boring af)

Unless its making the game 5v5 or 6v6 the patch is useless.

They could add a game mode with 5v5 along with the 3v3 to give ppl options. It doesn't hurt to have both and let ppl decide what they prefer like with Arc Raiders.

Thanks to this game I wanted a quick shooter to play when I don't have time for BF6. I reinstalled Overwatch. This game made me realize how good OW really is, so much better.

Somethings up with this game, it came from nowhere, controlled marketing, dangerously generic. This thing isn't normal.
It didn't come out of no where... And only a human could make something this bad. AI does art and most things better than humans. Something tells me xbox devs are behind this shit.

SkillUp: "They overhyped Highguard".

Apparently releasing a trailer and then saying nothing is "over hyping" a game.
Maybe they think you are an official spokesperson? =P

Really though, are you loving it so far? I haven't gotten to try it, but it sounds like a solid shooter, mechanically, and the setting/concept of making MMO fantasy tropes like mounts core to the experience looks interesting. I may have to give it a go one of these days.

100% agree. The only shotgun worth a damn is the automatic shotgun as long as it's purple or orange.

Twitch chat is like this forum and its ccu threads
It's not even limited to the ccu thread, it's in here as well. Pathetic honestly. I don't even want to discuss the game here anymore, but I'm going to keep playing it until I've had my fill.

Some of us have been gaming longer than shitty marketing bros were dreaming of scamming people out of money. Bullshit will increasingly and correctly be met with ridicule.

Make no mistake, if you engage in shilling you're not a marketer, you're a scam artist.

Do something that helps and not hurt innocent people, you're rotting your soul away for some pocket change.

It's not a bad game, it just very average. However, unlike single player games, you are in direct competition with games like Fortnight, Battlefield 6 etc. People have limited time and the aim is to pull people from those games. Can't be done unless it is amazing. I am sure Marathon will follow the same fate. Resident Evil 9 doesn't have to worry about gamers still playing Silent Hill F. I actually think that now something like Titanfall 3 with a great campaign would be more successful in the current climate.

I dont think they have to do much to pull people away from BF6, considering that game has already lost 90% of its player base.

It's decent.

I'd be rooting harder for it if multi-player was just Valorant, Overwatch, and RS Siege. It's conceptually more interesting than those.

The main annoyances for me are:

- There's no obvious counterplay to opponents who are better at shooting than you. Overwatch solved this 10 years ago.

- Defense phase feels like something they'd work on post release. Your team has 15 walls they can reinforce but borders on feeling completely useless.

- Typical progression problem. You play 6 matches in 2 hours and end up unlocking gold socks for a character you don't use.

A lot of the criticisms feel pretty invalid to me.

I don't really get where the hate is coming from. Played a few rounds and the gameplay loop is pretty fun.

Seems like people are either mad because their PC is a potato or because they can't understand basic mechanics.

I'm more concerned about things like TTK, balance, playing against broken aim assist (no clue what it's like in this game) etc.
Half of the gaming community is hecklers, they get off on it.

Highguard is extreme, some of the shit people are saying in here is ridicules.

People are acting like the devs knew the game was bad and that they are trying to cheat people or something.

Is this true? I read it on the purple board.

The game is 3 vs 3 as everyone now knows (which they didnt tell until launch).

But if a gamer drops off the team, the game doesn't have join-in-progress gamers subbing back in or AI bots to get the team back to 3 vs 3?

So if a game starts 3 vs 3 and players drop off, the game can literally end up as 1 vs 1?

So you are betting your whole game on one change to generic tropes? Because everything else from setting to graphics is generic AF.
I'd say the setting is being reinterpreted just by shifting it into a new genre. Mounts in MMOs are just a faster way to get around (or show off your epeen). In this game they look like they've become a gameplay mechanic, which is cool.

And while the setting is generic in other genres, it's not nearly so common in a shooter. It'd be like having a WWII setting for a JRPG—covering the same ground but from a fresh perspective.

The character designs though are aggressively generic, and the hero shooter dynamic with defined roles is pretty passé at this point. That said, I prefer a good ol' TDM with customizeability through perks and loadouts, so I have NOTHING to say about a multiplayer game type being passé or worn out.

Either way, familiar doesn't necessarily mean worse any more than new and trendy means better. Just so long as it's not a complete ripoff or a downgrade from its inspiration, it's all good, IMO. But to each his own.

Are you telling me that people are criticizing shitty video games on a video game forum?

Oh My God Reaction GIF
