This makes me feel better. I'm playing through 1 And the story does not stick.Exactly this. I beat NG and NG2 like 10 times each and still barely know the story. Same for both Nioh games lol.

Nobody plays for story haha. I wish Team Ninja would just take a page out of Fromsoftware's playbook and just make their stories as esoteric as possible. Nioh's art style and game world is fantastic. Visual world buildingThis makes me feel better. I'm playing through 1 And the story does not stick.
It would be goated if so. And if their management system didn't suck.Nobody plays for story haha. I wish Team Ninja would just take a page out of Fromsoftware's playbook and just make their stories as esoteric as possible. Nioh's art style and game world is fantastic. Visual world building
so you like to learn how to do quick and heavy slashes as from an npc?I don't find waking up and walking 30 feet to step on a overgrown spider as engaging as a Demon invasion happening on your doorstep. Nioh 3 is literally Samurai Jack reverse and I am all for it.
Dark Souls and Elden Ring particularly shines in it's world building and the lore surrounding it. Story though....you play detective to piece it all together and about a quarter of it is subject to interpretation.
The game technical side is more consistent than Nioh2. We don't have PS3 textures anymore lost into the scenery.
It's a great demo and will review and sell well but somehow I prefer Nioh 2 artstyle, level design (as usual bigger doesn't mean better) and combat. I think after some time most people will still prefer Nioh 2.
Not for me. It looks muddier, lighting is more inconsistent, transparencies are weird, and colors look off.It will win no graphical awards but it looks significantly better than the rest of the games.
You are not considering having to do double the endgame farming and needing the gear to be compatible with a form.I played it for 10 hours yesterday and had no performance issues, and once I got the hang of the two separate complete builds I think it's better than having everything on just one.
Having only a single stance for Ninja weapons, not having access to ki pulse purification in Ninja, and not having access to ninjutsu in samurai form are all objectively worse.Basically it's Nioh, but better.
You can deflect humans in Mid stance with most weapons in every Nioh...Deflect is incredible. I beat the human boss in I think the third area with basically nothing but deflecting his attacks and punishing. I've beaten Nioh 1/2 probably 20 times and I count on my hands how many times I've used block, but deflect I use constantly on human enemies especially. It's great to be able to kill their Ki while taking no damage and building up your specials gauges.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma:Y'all have short memories. No PS3 game looks like this. lol
I'd much prefer a retro shooter or Half-like kind of tutorial(ergo there isn't any) and you figure out everything by yourself where only the bare minimum is explained or talked about or just found in the options menu. Going on about a 5 minute tutorial just isn't worth the hassle. It's just there to ease new players who have never touched Nioh before into the game.so you like to learn how to do quick and heavy slashes as from an npc?
being forced to "talk" to npc:s to progress the "invasion" of the castle
Sony isn't involved in the funding of Nioh 3. This is strictly a Koei Tecmo/Team Ninja decision. Why not Xbox? Sony doing their crap again?

I sincerely hope you're not using that screenshot to prove the point of poster that I was responding to.... because:
You play Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3) on a quality plasma or 1080p CRT/PVM screen and it will look infinitely better than Nioh 3 on the latest QLED or OLED TV/monitor. High resolution does not make up for poor image quality.
It is not my fault you cannot handle the truth.

Can't agree with that. Nioh 3 can look quite nice at max settings. It's certainly not up to par with current "next-gen" games and would be more at home on a PS4, but Team Ninja did well giving us a good presentation with the limited technology. You play Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3) on a quality plasma or 1080p CRT/PVM screen and it will look infinitely better than Nioh 3 on the latest QLED or OLED TV/monitor. Definitely noting this as something I'll continue to do more of during combat. I have sorta make shifted a Kusarigama high stance from NiOh 2 by using the ninja skill. Very sh*t damage at my level, but it's been satisfying. Kinda odd they make you put points in for deflect and the Samurai stances. Those were just given to us in the previous games. I do appreciate throwing a few shuriken to stutter or break an enemy combo. There were a few insane builds for throwing items in NiOh 2. High dex builds for Ninja playstyles versus this where i have zero idea on what build will actually matter. Maybe it's a good thing Deflect is such a useful move in NiOh 3.The game is incredible. It will win no graphical awards but it looks significantly better than the rest of the games. I played it for 10 hours yesterday and had no performance issues, and once I got the hang of the two separate complete builds I think it's better than having everything on just one. I also think the open world is better than mission based, although it's definitely not better for PS5 because while the game is a stable 60 fps it is significantly softer and the dynamic graphic scaling can drop setting pretty low. I'm wonder what the Pro patch on launch will look like.
Basically it's Nioh, but better. I cannot wait until it launches. The king is back.
You can change the setting in the options to separate switching and burst counter.
If you watch every cutscene, loot every item, listen to all the voiced dialogue and don't skip anything it's actually 20. Bunch of iPad kids in this thread.

-The dual form kicks ass. I use both way more than I'd use either on a single build in the previous games. Farming gear is a huge part of end game Nioh, I'm not concerned. It's not different if you played more than one build anyway. Not for me. It looks muddier, lighting is more inconsistent, transparencies are weird, and colors look off.

A Suckiro lover that thinks in-game graphics are captured in photo mode and thinks less tools at disposal is an improvement... Sounds about right.-The dual form kicks ass. -There is literally a skill in the beginning of the demo that gives you purification in Ninja form any time you evade. You can't Ki pulse, which is probably for the best because Ninja is OP as hell as is, but you can purify.
-It's not "objectively" anything just because you like it less. That's called a preference.
-Deflect in Nioh 3 isn't remotely similar to the weapon based deflect in the first two games. WTF are you on about? It's a singular samurai skill, usable across all weapons that doesn't use additional button presses and it has significantly better upsides than the previous games. You are talking about a completely separate thing, which is still in the game btw. Deflect in Nioh 3 is Sekiro deflect with bonuses.
Finally, I don't know what is wrong with your setup, but Nioh 3 looks better than both previous games, and significantly better than Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma, so unless you were also making this argument with the last two games I don't know what to tell you. Nioh has never been a top of the line looking game, but it's gotten better looking with each game and this is no different.

Hold on, building shaders…. This in 2026 still.![]()
Go on...What pages?Yeah day 1 for me. The demo is awesome, but man did they take a few pages from Elden Ring lol.
Gonna assume you aren't familar with Nioh.Go on...What pages?
Get Deflect and you'll change your tune.I dont know if I am being weird but I am exclusively using the Ninja moveset. I have barely tried the Samurai lol
Ninja style is so quick and flashy. I love it
Get Deflect and you'll change your tune.
I beat the demo swapping between both. By the looks of it, ninja will remain highly effective, but those Yokai with their AoE thing that drains stamina recovery need to be Ki pulsed. If you just let this thing linger all over the arena, it can become a problem, so samurai is still very useful.Yes I got it but the Ninja moveset has quick dodge skill which is very satisfying to pull off when dodging attacks too. Anyway today I think I will focus on Samurai a bit to learn to master it just in case because I am not sure if Ninja moveset will be effective the whole time
Ninja has its set of weapons and samurai its own. Dual Swords can only be used by the samurai and Dual Ninja Swords by the ninja.New player here. Is there any benefit or synergy to using Dual Swords and Ninja style? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I'm in the tutorial and picking a weapon and wondering about that sort of thing...

An idiot who thinks a THIS looks better than Nioh 3 and doesn't know the difference between a weapon parry and a universal deflect, doesn't know you can purify in Ninja, actually thinks you have less options when you have more, and doesn't actually understand anything about the game. Congratulations, you went into the game expecting a carbon copy of Nioh 2 and learned nothing about it.A Suckiro lover that thinks in-game graphics are captured in photo mode and thinks less tools at disposal is an improvement... Ninja is so fucking good. I love all the people crying about it because it shows they have no clue how to play the game. I switch to Samurai for flavor and just fun, but I could easily play the entire game in Ninja. The evade double dodge, throwing weapon passives when dodging, purging while evading, etc. It's incredible and fast and fluid and that's with the basic stuff we've seen in the demo. I'm excited to see what other passive skills you get throughout the game because just based off of this first area they change the game pretty significantly.I dont know if I am being weird but I am exclusively using the Ninja moveset. I have barely tried the Samurai lol

You can purify in Ninja form. There is a passive skill drop that allows this.I beat the demo swapping between both. I'm enjoying the demo I'm just not sure I've got the skills to be successful at these types of games anymore. Loved Nioh 1 and 2 and beat em both but that was a long time ago lol. My reflexes are not what they used to be being 51. Struggling with first boss in the tent. Might have to back track and do some practicing. Sucks cause I love these games.
