I hope this implies they're getting this out of the way so that we can get a Switch 2 focused Nintendo Direct with some heavy hitters.

Still waiting for that huge head thing, that scared the hell out of me in the original direct, didn't expect that at all.

I never played the original. It looked pretty shallow, gameplay-wise. But after skipping MP4, I'm starved for new Switch content, so I'll give this a fair shake.

My 13 year old daughter is starved for a new Tomodachi Life. She'll play Zelda, Mario and Mario Kart a bit but she LIVES Tomodachi Life. Between that, Roblox and Splatoon she is set.

Hopefully this doesn't get added to the big Direct now that it has its own showcase.

Not my type of game but reading how the stream chat switched from extremely nasty (as ever) to being warming (other than the few Mexicans always bothering around) it's because they were convinced or the correct demographics is watching it.

Not for me. I liked the handheld one. Was novel at the time and humorous and cheap. After AI has become more prominent it feels like watching chatGPT just play a boring game with itself. The only time I slightly chuckled was the newscast.

I could see this generating a lot of funny social media posts but if this isn't very cheap I'm out. I like the art style though.

The chat felt fake. I rolled my eyes and closed the stream.

Won't be surprised if its bots writing in the chat tbh

dead internet and all that

Looks okay. The 3DS game was way more quirky compared to what we saw here.

I really dislike Nintendo of America these days. They have a knack at making everything look extremely lame.

Man, i think all the videogame news is "fake" these days. Truly.

Remember about a month ago we got word that videogame spending was the lowest since 1995 as a collective. Saying PS5 lead the charge over the holdiay.

Now they are saying spending with up like 8%, and praising NS2 as leading the charge.

While showing the game to my little daughter, we came across a man confessing his love to a clown, which created an awkward moment. I guess Nintendo is going in a different direction. Are romantic relationships in Tomodachi games on a Sims-like level(like kissing etc)? I saw that character can move in together, I wondered whether it might not be age-appropriate. Were there other things in the older games that could make young kids uncomfortable? Also, how do you earn money in the game?

You make money mostly by just taking care of the miis and selling stuff. You also got donations like a once a day. Married couples can have babies but the baby just kind of shows up after the miis ask you if it's ok. I don't remember if there was kissing but if there was it wasn't anything like the Sims. There wasn't anything inappropriate in the previous game that I can recall but this is a whole new Nintendo these days so who knows.

Only clowns freak out over something so minor. Though being offended by the existence of people different from you isn't remotely funny, it's small and pathetic.
No one is offended by their existence. We are offended by them trying to "normalize" their mental illness.

Most people will just avoid them in real life while mocking them internally. Rightfully so too.

I'm super hyped to play this one after spending so much hours on the 3DS version of it. The game looks silly but thats the appeal, it managed to be into the top 10 of the best selling games of the 3DS (ahead of the Monster Hunter games of the system mind you). Now with the playerbase of the size of the Switch family, it will probably cross the 10M players along the gen.

Hopefully the SW2 version has mouse support, the drawing function will do wonders for customization
