Let’s face it, GTA 6 is going to be a locked 30fps

Ever since GTA 6 was shown I was longing 60fps mode. I struggle so much playing anything at 30fps now and I'm craving playing this game.

I struggle with the amount of tech going into this just how they are going to hit 30fps, let alone anything higher. The CPU is going to be pushed to its limits. The Xbox series S and PS5 CPU's aren't really that much different. Even on the pro, we may get some enhanced visuals only.

I also think Rockstar see no benefit of doing a 60fps mode when they can resell the game later.

I'm not sure if I can hold off for a next gen version so may just have to lump it.

Thoughts?

For sure, the cpus on these consoles are weak.

I'll still play it, I suffered through Blight town on the 360, baby. I can go back to that pain because it can still bring joy.

With how long we are waiting for it, it may as well push the consoles to their limits to future proof the game. 60 fps on next gen consoles and phatty PCs down the road. GTA 7 won't be here until 2040.

It's inevitable. Given the specs available (even on PRO) and the expected fidelity, 30fps is the realistic target. So, it's the right move.

That being said, continuing to delay a PC version for at least a year is unfortunate. That would have given the option for people who absolutely want higher FPS and are willing to pay for it.

Thoughts?

Games that take this long to release don't hold my interest. GTA and TES were my two favorite video game franchises. The sixth numbered entry in each series should be my most anticipated video games ever, and yet I don't give a shit about them. I want my video games to be video games, not quasi life simulators. Once upon a time I would've preordered the most expensive edition of GTA VI the instant it released; the thought of how many fps the game will have is the last thing I give a shit about these days. Add in the internet age and laughable hype and hyperbole that media like this draw, and there really isn't a reason for me to pay attention until the game is actually released, feature and content complete in single player, and the single player has legitimately reviewed well.

Any suggestions of the contrary are pure cope. It was more than obvious when people realized the game has RTGI, no way the CPU can handle RTGI calculations + all the other world simulation stuff that Rockstar usually blasts the hardware with at 60fps, even 40 seems very unlikely but who knows, perhaps they'll allow it on the PRO with VRR.

30FPS - when it's rock solid and coupled with perfect frame pacing - is absolutely playable. What sells it is what's on screen: if you can understand why it's 30FPS just by playing it, all of my issues disappear, frankly. Rockstar are the only developer left who can truly justify their 30FPS targets.

Of course, the game looks absolutely incredible and will push the consoles to the absolute limit. I'll be shocked if the 30fps is stable

What do you mean "let's face it"? Literally everyone already assumed that.

Its hilarious watching drama around this game even tho we still haven't seen single actual gameplay.....but I'm guessing R* fans care far more about graphics than actual gameplay.

I thought gta 5 was shit so I have zero expectations

It's the best way to experience games

I'll likely grab it because they do cool open world building but gameplay in rockstar games is just so bad

I did think gta 5 was an improvement over rdr 2. If they can just improve that and quest design, so you don't fail a mission for wandering 15 feet off the path, I'd be way more interested

For me no amount of graphics gonna make me tolerate bad gameplay and mission design….but I guess that's what R* fans want, as long as graphics are good nothing else matters.

GTA5 released in 2013, RDR 2 in 2018...so wouldn't that be a regression.

You'd think huh

I made a thread about this a while ago

I've since played gta 5 and it definitely feels worse in rdr 2

well, if we're lucky the rumours are true and Microsoft launches the Xbox Series X2-ultra-plus-whatever relatively soon.

so fingers crossed for a performance mode on that thing 🤞

It's going to be a massive open world game with a level of detail higher than Cyberpunk or any other similar game. Of course it's going to be 30 fps.

Question is, how stable will that 30 fps target be. I don't have much faith for the base consoles. Maybe on the PS5 Pro.

My concern is mostly about the PC port. Is it going to be optimized enough so i can run it on my 5060 ti 16GB at the same level of quality as the PS5 Pro? My personal target is 40fps locked at 1080p/max with DLSS but without frame generation/RT.

Without seeing a HUD or anything it's hard to tell, but if you look closely at Trailer 2, there's sequences that suggest gameplay
Even that was "gameplay" it tells me nothing……one of my biggest issue with modern R* games is the moment to moment gameplay and actual mission designs.

It really hard to get excited for this when we haven't seen proper gameplay….Should I get excited because "pretty pictures"?
