Wonder what kind of trash will they add to say "But the value now is much higher!"

Add WoW sub to it and make it 25€ monthly instead of 15?

Make it 25€ but GP users have access to day -4 games?

Infinite possibilities

I don't see myself ever signing back up for it.

I was on Game Pass since day one, but sold my XSX when I got a PC.

I cancelled PC Game Pass a few months ago and honestly forgot about it. I'm happier just buying the games I'm interested in (usually on sale anyway).

is "merge" just business-speak for "we're gonna jack up the price" or are they adding more features?
Add more features you don't want and raise the price, removing the option to pay less for what you wanted (Day 1 games)

Next year the GP sub that comes with day 1 games wil also come with Office access and a ChatGPT sub, only for 59,99€ monthly, huge value

I think everyone saw this coming from a mile away. The question is how they handle the transition.

When gamepass console was phased out existing subscribers could keep it, if they had auto-renewal. So they would still get dayone games (is this still going years later?)

So existing PC subs MAY get to keep that going for a period of time.

I imagine the legality of taking away day one games when people have paid for it up to 3 years in advance is very questionable.

Yes, Gamepass Console tier for $11 users before the Standard tier was introduced, still have access to Day 2 games. There's probably two to three million of those.

PC Gamepass has been marked for death since October. They will simply stop allowing new sign ups and let current subscriber base continue if Recurring Billing On.

PC Game Pass is a good value at the moment, but it's just a matter of time before it's gone. Can almost guarantee people will pay the same or more and not get day one releases anymore.

Warren says that the firm might be planning to merge the PC Game Pass tier with another, such as Xbox Game Pass Premium.

Anyone with any common sense knew this outcome was only a matter of time. There was no way they'd keep PC Game Pass significantly cheaper than Game Pass Ultimate while still offering day one launches, EA Play, and Ubisoft+ on PC. Eventually it's just going to be Game Pass Premium and Game Pass Ultimate for PC, same as console. (They won't put Game Pass Essential on PC since that's mostly just for paid online multiplayer access which isn't necessary on PC.)

Let's not forget that the only reason they won't be doing this is because Valve lets Steam users use their matchmaking servers for free, so Microsoft is basically forced to also provide free to use matchmaking servers on PC, to at least try to compete :pie_open_mouth:. I'm sure they'd love to, if they could lol.

It was expected: the console vs PC separation doesn't make sense if the console doesn't exist anymore

Xbox = PC = Xbox
Yeah but they can't just get rid of it, they still need to sell the change somehow, if the thing they merge it with is more expensive. What more can they add? Only thing that isn't already there is cloud streaming afaik. They need something better, like Xbox legacy emulation or something of that magnitude.

Game Pass Essential is already on PC. It just gives you 50 games and cloud streaming of select owned Windows Store games. I think with paid online access being phased out Microsoft should buff the game lineup a bit more to cover several 4+ year old games.

Same here. I was an early subscriber, think I started in August 2017, and have kept going. But the latest price hike and the fact that I found out I play more and more on my PS5 settled it for me. I may jump in now and again in there are several very interesting games there I want to play. But I will never be a loyal subscriber again.

When it comes to sub plans just have two.

Cheaper MP only tier. And deluxe tier that has everything.

I get what they are trying to do. Like cable TV or ISP plans where there's lots of tiers catering to every consumer going up and down by $10. But for gaming, I think it's better you just do two to simplify it.

It really has never been difficult but Xbox continue to make it so.

Xcloud tier - $5 per month.
PC tier - $15 per month.
Xbox tier - $15 per month.
Everything tier - $20 per month.

Xbox have chopped and changed this so much and still can't get it right.

Does this mean Premium tier will receive all day-1 games?

That would also make sense as a change made in tandem with the merging of PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Premium, as that would bring Game Pass' premium offerings — guaranteed access to first-party Xbox games at launch and its widest library of available titles — to a larger group of users

I canceled this a while ago so I can try out Indiana jones and 33. I doubt I'll ever go back. Over here ultimate is like over $30 a month. No longer worth it at that price. Especially with how often games go down in price.
