Final Resident Evil Requiem previews are dropping in

am I a bitch if I play it in 3rd person?

NGL the motion sickness I felt from RE7 was kinda brutal. It's nice to have the option to nope out

but at the same time you lose the imersion.
A bitch? More like a chad.

No, anyone playing RE in first person now the gimmick is over is an idiot. You can't see costumes in first person.

I also I like to see animation of the character I'm controlling, to me that's way more immersive than first person which often than not feels I'm controlling hovering camera rather than actual person.

Maybe in VR first person feels better but flat screen I just don't care for it.

Not at all, one of my favourite genre is FPS, loved RE 7 and 8, didn't mind one bit the 1st person take.

That being said, I'll play this game in 3rd person, maybe switch around at a later 2nd playthrough.

You are right, you lose the immersion, there's no comparison. 1st it's more personal, more intense, especially for horror. But when it's more action like this, I think it's better 3rd or at least I prefer it.

It is, the "q" in requiem is Capcom's way of hiding a "9" in the title.
I haven't seen that in any logo or video. Would be cool, I'll never forget that RE7 reveal video. I think they might be getting away from numbers like Halo or Assassins creed did.

EDIT: I stand corrected in the third trailer I just watched the q does flicker to a 9 Sweet

Take the following with grain of salt:

- possibly third playable character Chris
- Sherry supporting Leon
- no legacy character dies
- files about other survivors, mostly no physical appearance
- Gideon not final villain

If there's going to be a demo, it'll likely be the same slice they've been showing since TGS2025. It's fine, but you're not missing much. We're all gonna buy it anyway.

Have the PS5 Steelbook preordered but will buy and play it on PC. Bring it Capcom.
So pumped for this.

This is the first RE that actually seems to advance the main story since RE6, meaning since 14 years - and it's the first time since RE4 that I'm actually excited for not only the game but also what happens in the plot. That's 22 years! I was 17 back then... fuck me...

I was totally nerding out about story and characters of RE4 during my childhood and teens but ever since RE5 was let down time after another.

Any final predictions on what they do with the story? I don't think Capcom has the balls to kill off any main characters, but maybe it's ada. Could be she sacrifices herself for Leon. Will it maybe show Leon is married or has a kid. Maybe Leon is the father of Grace, maybe she learns who her father is and that leads the story for RE10. Although I have a feeling 10 will be a Chris or Jill story. So many possibilities.

RE Village never quite clicked with me. Requiem looks way more intriguing, and I love the idea of a gameplay split between Grace and Leon. Love everything I'm seeing and reading about it. Can't wait.

Any rumor about game lenght? There are 2 playable characters so i assume it will be atleast similar lenght to village maybe RE4?

Calling others idiots over enjoying their virtual toys differently than you is peak hyperbolic Internet autism.

I'll be playing this the same way I prefer every game, first person. I hope everyone digs their third person play throughs, and I'm happy that the game facilitates both perspectives.

I don't know I would say maybe on VR but most of the time feels like I'm controlling hovering camera rather than actual person….also I personally get way more immersed when I see animation of the character I'm controlling especially if it has good animation.

You're on a gaming forum, what did you expect exactly?
? I don't understand the logic of this post. You know it's childish to insult people, and noone else in the thread did, so how does the fact that gamers say immature and ridiculous things sometimes somehow excuse you insulting an entire demographic of people for having a different opinion than you?

The callous rudeness of others does not excuse your own. Be better.

I was thinking earlier like... Damn... Maybe I should say sorry.

But RE is an established franchise that has 3 games that are FPS, so have you played the others or? 🤔

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about mate.

If it wasnt for the limitation of the system back then, og Resident evil 1 would have been fps. Also there are more games in this franchise with first person, not just 3.

Next thing is, the franchise has been known for tank controls and fixed cameras for us older folks. Now after re4 and the remakes the franchise is known for tps for a new generation of players and fans, who mostly can't play the ogs.

There are 3 camps in this whole fanbase and all of them are legit, but calling people names over their preferred control and camera settings just shows how limited someone has to be to act this way.

I called people an idiot but you're being more hostile than me maybe YOU should do better.

Me and hostile? Lmao.
Yes. Also I'm glad RE didn't start off as an FPS.

I've never played Gun Survivor, Gun Survivor 2 or Dead Aim. Not interested. I did play Dino Stalker though. Dead Aim should be remade... Into Third person.

Mainline RE has three games that are FPS. But the gimmick has run dry but if he wants to miss out on features in the game its up to him.

I'm also not into these games and prefer tps. Still I can't deny the awesomeness of RE7 and the first 3 og mainline games. Even Code Veronica/X is fucking awesome with its "dynamic camera", but simpletons can't handle that one.

But I wouldn't berate others what to or how to play. RE is the only big franchise that experimented so many different things and managed to survived this long.

And I don't see how he misses out on anything. He will likely try out both camera settings and settle for one for further playtroughs.

Just played through 2 in first person and it felt like a different game. I am psyched that both modes are standard in 9. Like two games in one. Btw, I hate to admit it cause I like 3rd person more, but first person is a lot freakier

I've played all of them, and adore all of them. I don't mind third person games that much ultimately, I play plenty of them. I also play isometric, point and click adventure, and tons of 2D games.

I've learned that I have a preference, ultimately, for the first person perspective if I'm ever given the chance, that is if the game works well with it. For example, RE2 - 4 Remakes all work fantastically in first person with REframework, given some tolerance for cutscenes being clearly not made for first person, though it is still cool to have as an option; it's actually pretty handy to be able to see how the model lighting and framing was handled during cutscenes, (which first person completely exposes), but it's not for everyone. Point is, with REframework, in two clicks you can play in first person and toggle between first and third in one key tap and one click, and it makes the games immensely more enjoyable for people like me who just genuinely prefer first person.

I understand why people like third person, particularly if the character modeling and animations are impressive, and I'll definitely play it for a bit as a novelty when I play this, I mean who doesn't wanna see Leon's finely built new rear delts and lats? I'll put my wife to bed early and have some quality alone time with Mr. Kennedy, (insert why are you gay.gif here), at some point for sure, but ultimately I'll find our relationship unfulfilling, and eventually I'll be annoyed with him taking up 20 to 30 percent of my screen real estate at any given time and not really contributing anything useful or utilitarian to the relationship other than visuals, and though he is pretty, I'll ultimately end up not wanting to see him anymore.

Another reason I prefer first person is that I really like examining assets in games while I play, and I find that's easier to do in first person. I tend to mod my games with much higher resolution textures and first person is much more convenient for quick testing than third person, though it's ultimately best to have both for sure.

There are genres of games that I think work better in third person, of course, like character action games, but I don't find survival horror is aided by the third person perspective for me. In fact, if anything, it honestly makes it a little less scary; kinda removes that feeling of isolation a bit, and I'm lookin to get scared when I play a horror game.

You serious or just trolling?
They're probably being serious, there's an entire demographic of RE fans that prefer the more horror oriented titles over the more action oriented ones. Different strokes, no one's wrong, they're all fantastic games.....except 6, which I'd rather belly drop into a pool of tar than be forced to play again.

Damn bro sent me to the shadow realm with this one.

I'm sorry for roasting you. 🤴

Any tips on getting this mod working on steamdeck? I have trouble with some mods working including that fixed camera mod I desperately want to try.

Thankfully RE9 has both 1st and 3rd person so everyone can enjoy.
I mentioned that in one of my earlier posts, and expressed identical sentiment. I'm definitely gonna be making use of both settings, excited to see how the more action oriented parts of Leon's gameplay will translate between perspectives.

Here's hoping for good ultra wide support, has that been announced yet?
