Gothic 1 Remake finally has a release date. -June 5th 2026

Can't wait , hope they give us a release date for trilogy also.
They should've released the trilogy on PS & Xbox before the remake. Don't see that many console players wanting to go back to the og Gothic after playing the new version (unless they're hardcore Gothic fans who abandoned PC gaming).

I'm betting the trilogy is releasing after and it's the bait for people who liked the remake and want to play the other two. Releasing before could kill the remake sales

You can look at it from different angles. If Gothic Classic released several months before the remake - sure, it could affect sales. If it released on other consoles along with the Switch version back in 2023 it could get people interested and then wanting to play the prettier and more modern version.

And I imagine transitioning from a very modern looking Gothic Remake to very dated looking G2 & G3 will be difficult for many people unless they have memories of playing those games.

Did they add actual women to the game, or is it still male actors?

Is it me or they actually backtracked with that? Timestamp for women showed in this trailer, I still have a bit of off vibe but a it's a lot better than before.

Edit: I think the off vibe is from hips and waist.

Anyways, looks junky but good enough to me.

Day 1 cause I'm a weak bitch when it comes to medieval games, but I do expect a lot of jank and so-so animations.
I guess since they wanted to use similar combat mechanics as OG it will be junky at the core - but fun nonetheless. I just hope it will be priced fairly and not like AAA game.

Looks great. I hope RPG fans won't sleep on this. I am particularly looking at americans, who have historically ignored this fantastic IP.

Looking forward to it. I'll get it on PS5, although a little disappointed they skipped the Switch 2.

Would be a great game to play on the go.

Really hope it plays good enough to get 2. And that we'll still get the Switch/console updates to the original(s) on PC. Lol @ calling them woke for ditching some original trash/out of place designs for female clothes and doing something more lore sensible (not the earlier shown WIP stuff) ❄️ ❄️

The only true Gothic 1 will remain the Piranha Bytes Gothic. Not this soulless imitation.
Look, I love PB games too (played and finished all of them, even the really mediocre Elex 2) but PB is gone. Alkimia actually has some PB veterans on board, including guys like Kai Rosenkranz, and it also has Nicolas Lietzau, who wrote the fantastic Enderal.
There is a possibility the remake will not be good, but there is also very high chance it will be great. Calling it soulless? Based on what? These guys have spent 6 years of their lives making it as good as possible. And the trailer looks great.
I really was hyped and wanted it to be good, but as we know now its politically correct modern audience woke agenda pushing garbage, so no money from me
This is not going to be Veilguard nor Concord ffs. Ease up on the outrage. KCD2 was called woke by morons when it was nothing of the sort. And right here in this trailer you can already see some chicks looking just fine. Not that it would matter either way since women were complete non-entity in the original game anyway.

KCD2 nor KCD wasnt woke, so stop comparing actual woke shit to those based games.
We know all telltale signs of when product is gonna be woke, masculinised ugly women is a huge one which so far was never wrong in all those years.
Maybe just maybe some1 at the top fixes that shit in time, that would mean clownworld activist devs have no final say in how game looks/is but if it stays as it is we can assume woke virus corrupted whole dev studio top to botton and no hope is left.

lol a rejank?! cool i guess, but the reason ppl liked these games can easily be found elsewhere these days

i guess you could suffer through it for nastalgia's sake 🤷‍♂️... just keep telling yourself its fun its fun its fun

I'm interested. I'm not sold yet, but I've heard many good things about the original. Apparently, the remake is being handled by people who care about the game; it's not just a cash-grab. That's a good sign.

I don't feel intrigue or even much interest when I watch the trailers, but I know that the immersion these games depend on can't be transmitted in trailers. So I'm keeping an open mind. I played Risen back in 2010, which I enjoyed, so I have some sense of the "jank" inherent to these games but also their weird charm.

Mainly what draws me to this game is its reputation. I don't expect it to be an RPG masterpiece, but I'm hoping it offers something unique and immersive.

I wonder what happened to those. I was really looking forward to replaying them on console with proper controller support and maybe even a playable version of Gothic3 after 20 years, but they went completely silent.

Tried the demo, it was thoroughly meh.

Will see how the final game turns out.
Putting aside that the demo is already outdated and they showed off several chances since then... It's Gothic.

It's not a series known to be awe-inducing in moment-to-moment combat.
What makes it outstanding it's how committed it is to immersion and compelling and rewarding exploration.
The only thing this remakes needs to achieve to prove itself just as good is to stick to the same core principles.

- You start as a nobody and you climb your way up to the hierarchy. Which means you actually have to fear people who threaten and bully you because they are out of your league at first.
- You start clumsy in combat and your animations change as your skills level up.
- The UI (at least in the original, we'll see in this one) is as minimalistic as it can get, avoiding any clutter on screen.
- You could go basically everywhere from the start but most of the "gating" happens organically, with enemies that are out of your league barring your path and limiting your options.
- itemization is sparse and every upgrade meaningful. Weapons and armors are rare (and often tied to your progress in status inside your faction of choice) but each step up tends to be a big deal.

Etc, etc.

P.S. The guy claiming that only nostalgia makes this worth playing is a fucking clown, by the way.
As anyone who played the Chronicles of Myrtana mod a couple of years ago would easily be able to tell.

One of the reason I liked KCD and KCD2 so much was that it had those same Gothic vibes where you start as someone a random goon can put into the ground without breaking a sweat.

And then you have great story, NPCs and more.

I really hope this turns out well, but my expectations are a bit low.
