Those with Multiple Platforms, where are you buying?

I'm no longer multiplatform. I used to own everything. But thats no longer an option with prices getting stupid high I'm focusing on where my library is the biggest.
PC is the place to be for now.

I bought a Switch 2, So if Nintendo would ever get off their butts and release some games I'll be buying the exclusives there.

I bailed on Playstation console I'll buy whatever 1st party they release on PC.
I'll probably eventually get a PS5 if I can find a cheap used for the old library that doesn't make it to PC.
Missing Astro Bot and the PS3 games. Everything else I wanted is on PC currently.

I used to buy Xbox heardware but damn if they haven't messed up this generation. I sold the Series X, Kept and old Xbox one X for the old library.
Hoping Magnus will let me move the library over to PC in the future.
 
Last gen had pc+ ps4, spent maybe 40-60 in favour of pc but that still resulted in 5+ games yearly even on ps4(all physical, still have them, sometimes i replay them on my nostalgia trips :P ) .

This gen since sony fucked things up with very few high quality ps5 games im 100% on pc, amount of cash spend- i dont wanna count to keep my last bit of sanity but it was somewhere between 2 and 3k usd in 2025 alone :messenger_astonished:

My prediction for next gen, being 2027/2028 i will for sure buy ps6 at launch(even if its 999$) to have access to all ps5 games i couldnt play this gen(likely with some enhanced/pr0 mode) and pc wise i will try to get 60xx nvidia card(or amd rdna5 card if its competetive enough).
 
Depends, mostly PC, but some franchises have always had some issues on PC so I prefer them on console, like CoD.
Also if the game has some kind of heavy proprietary kernel anti-cheat. I go to console instead.

I can see myself buying more games on the SW2 thanks to that, Hades 2 plays amazing! DQ7 Remake also its on the same level of the PS5 version, its gonna be a good gen
 
I buy most games now on steam or gog. On PC I can play games with mods and I can choose the graphics settings I want. If a game is available physical on card I buy on Switch 2, which doesn't happen that often most games are released on key card unfortunately. PS5 I only buy exclusives which are not available anywhere else.
 
It's still a case-by-case basis depending on the game, but I really never buy full-price new releases anymore unless it's like a physical Nintendo game. But those aren't really worth the ask anymore either, so it's not much. My last full price game was DKB.

It's a trickle of cheap games on Steam or Nintendo eshop. I use the "games on sale" function of my wish lists and cherry pick.

Resident Evil 7/8 Gold bundle ( PS5 digital)
Silent Hill 2 ( PS5 physical)
Final Fantasy 7 intergrade(PS5 physical)
TMNT Cowabunga Collection (PS5 physical)
Dead Space ( Xbox Series digital)
Metroid Prime Remastered ( Switch physical)

Everything else has been on PC, so percentage wise I'd say like I'm like 99% Steam at this point. And in hindsight, all the PS5 physical games I wish I had bought on Steam as well.
 
I tend to go with PS5 for most console purchases right now. I am buying on Switch 2 if I want to play outside of my house on the go for some games, Steam for others so I can play on Steam Deck. Sitting in front of my PC is my least favorite way to play games and remote play on PS Portal from PS5 isn't always great for me outside of my house.
 
PS5 and PC.

If it's broken on PS5, I'll go PC.

If it's broken on PC, I'll go PS5.

If it's only on one platform, obviously I'll get it wherever it releases.

For older games, I just go wherever the better sale is.
 
This is what I've been doing since 2024…

Nearly everything: PC

Games that use EA's launcher: PS5
Games that use Ubisoft launcher: PS5
Games that use Blizzard's BattleNet: PS5
Games without console controls on PC: PS5
Unoptimized Japanese PC games (because some JP devs tend to still prioritize console): PS5
 
Switch 2 if portability or living room experience matters more, or PC if performance or tinkering/modding matters more.

Very happy with this combo of platforms
 
PC - Steam and GOG
PS5 - Gamestop 1 year after the game comes out, 75% plus sales on the store
Switch - Gamestop and 90% sales on the store.

I've purchased a few new games and regretted it every time.
 
PlayStation 5 Pro (w/ Portal), Series X, Switch 2, 4070S/5600x PC, and a Steam Deck

There are a lot of variables but:
  • PC - Vast majority of multiplayer games or just games I prefer MKB.
  • PlayStation - Vast majority of story based games are bought here including shooters
  • Xbox - Mostly exclusives or titles available on GamePass (I don't pay a concurrent subscription but grab a $15/month code off of eBay and subscribe when needed)
  • Switch 2 - Mostly just exclusives.
  • Shooters are mixed as it depends on whether it's something I want to play on a TV with a controller or a monitor with MKB.
  • Some franchises are also just associated with specific platforms for me like RE or FF on PlayStation for example. The exception is "novelty" like when Forza Horizon 5 and Gears 1 went to PlayStation.
  • Exclusives are obvious
Most of my purchases are on PlayStation overall though as me and my girlfriend game share and sometimes split the cost of titles we both really want to play. When it comes to PC I only buy from Steam outside of very very rare circumstances.

My main platform is PC. I buy mostly Steam but with some exceptions like Cyberpunk and BG3 on GOG because they were significantly cheaper.

My secondary platform is PS5 but I only buy physical for the console because I like to own the discs and because I have a beef with Sony and their regional policy (My account was originally created in Canada on PS3 launch and I move to another country and they won't let me transfer. I won't sacrifice what I have just to be able to buy more from Sony so fuck them).

I also own a Switch Lite and 90% of the very few games I got on that platform are digital from Nintendo's own e-shop.

When a game is multiplatform and I buy at launch I go to PC first. If it's a timed exclusive and I really want it (Like Rebirth) I go for PS5.

This is both crazy and crazy smart.
I've learned to live with the launchers. the only one that gives me any guff is Ubi. I've used BattleNet so rarely I don't know if it's good or not.

It's a dual reason for me. The first being that their launchers suck, but the second being insurance in case any of them suddenly remove or kill their services on PC.

For me, Games For Windows Live was a cautionary tale that almost made tons of 360-generation games unplayable after it died.

I just can't leave DLSS right now. It's too good. Maybe PS6 upscaler will be amazeballs and then I'll do the same.
 
Mostly PC due to Steam prices but I'm currently thinking of going back to full consoles due to PC still being a jank fest sometimes on a couch/TV setup.
 
XSX - Game Pass machine
PS5 Pro - primary platform
Switch - stuff that I can't get on other hardware (Nintendo games then!)
PC - despite being a beast and capable of tearing a new one on all of the above, hardly use it for games.

Fair enough. Tbf most of those games have since been rewritten to cut out GFWL and just use Steam, but there's definitely some that haven't been. The biggest ones that I'm aware of that've never been updated are Fable 2 and 3 :pie_open_mouth:.

That's one of the reasons why I'll never buy a game on the Xbox App.

Thinking of offloading the PS5, especially since I have two of them (one of them my kid plays on, I could just use it if Astro Bot 2 or whatever comes out)
 
I am currently gaming on:
  • Xbox Series X
  • PS5 Pro
  • Nintendo Switch 2

I originally would buy everything on Xbox Series X, like I have done in past generations, but now because of the PS5 Pro, if the game is on both platforms and it has PS5 Pro enhancements, I will purchase it for PS5, except if the game is on GamePass. Then I stick with Xbox Series X.

For more old school, turn-based JRPGs, I get those on Nintendo Switch, because those are the few types of games I enjoy playing on a portable. The exception would be if the game has severe performance issues when compared to Xbox or PS5.
 
Because I trust no company I spread my purchases evenly across all platforms, even the shitty ones. That way I max my chances of having something to play left when one or two go down the shitter and all the licenses linked to them.

PC first. If it's a game where I want a physical copy, PS or Switch (depending on the game). Although I am mostly done with the Switch but will pick it up again when updated S2 hardware releases.
 
PS5 - Main console
Switch 2 - Just for Nintendo Games
Xbox - Stopped buying new games for it 2020 though I recently purchased a handful that I had with Game Pass as they are in my backlog.
 
Xbox series X for everything.
PC for everything that is not on Xbox


looking into adding a switch 2 at some point later this year but the moment im just throwing money at upgrades/mods for my car, and music gear/instruments. so the switch 2 can wait a little while.
 
While I appreciate sometimes having an option for portable or PC playing, typically I want the comfiest spot, with the biggest screen, best sound system, and the best controller. PS5 for me.
 
PS5 - Main
Switch 2 - Exclusives
XSX - Anything that slips through the cracks

For multiplats I generally default to PS5 over XSX, but will check DF before deciding.
 
Mainly PlayStation 5.

If some game needs mouse or it's not available phisically, I would consider buying digital vapour on PC.

When I have a Nintendo platform(each two generations) , Nintendo exclusives there.
 
Mainly PC for better performance and mods, but I do buy stuff on PS5 as well. I just got a switch 2, but that's mostly for a few exclusives like Xenoblade and The Duskbloods (don't really for most switch games).
 
Switch 2 for Nintendo exclusives and certain indies/multiplats that benefit from handheld without much of a detriment from the hardware.

PC for everything else.

I also have a SD so sometimes that factors in, but I use it primarily for older PC games and emulation.
 
I mostly double dip on Steam after heavy discounts for archival purposes. I mostly purchase on PSN for newer releases and on Switch for exclusives or Indies.
 
I have PS5, Switch 2 and Steam. PS5 always if given choice. Others are for exclusives only. No reason to still own Xbox obviously, so I sold my Series X and won't be buying any future Xbox consoles.
 
pc-ps5pro based on how shitty the pc port stutters,
sw2 for nintendo 1st party, which increasingly looking like a bad investment.
 
If it's play anywhere then Xbox, if not usually Xbox or PC through GOG or Steam. PlayStation for the rare exclusive I am interested in but generally don't buy from Sony when I can avoid it. Almost never buy on switch; not sure why I own one to be honest.

I rarely buy a game before it comes out unless I really trust the developer. So I usually wait, check some reviews I actually care about, and on day one I'll watch gameplay from some random regular guy, not professional media, playing on the platform I'm planning to buy it on.


Right now, based on Capcom's track record, I kinda suspect RE Requiem might not run great on PC, so my focus is on PS5. But that could change. I'm just waiting to see where it launches without giving me a headache.

My decisions tho are very straight forward. I buy and play all my games on ps5, the rest are just expensive cat hair collectors….except the MacBook which I use exclusively for work, and games of blood on the clocktower.

PS5 Pro for most new games. I like owning a physical collection. Almost everything worth a damn comes out for it.

I have an Xbox Series X which i've setup as a sort of Xbox time capsule. It's a good backwards compatibility machine as a preservation of what Xbox once stood for.

I also have a Switch 2 which covers new and old Nintendo games.

PC has been in the doghouse for me for years. I have a 4070 Super in it but I hate all of the headaches associated with PC gaming. I will probably sell a lot of parts to fund a Steam Machine, or Magnus if Microsoft can get their act together.

I plan on buying a SuperStation One this year for emulation.
