They saved the most disappointing game until last. Goodnight folks.

Imagine finishing this good show with an horrible 2D pixel sidescroll game.

Jesus, Sony.

You could have easily reversed the order. First the 2D Pixel Art game, than announcing the Remake.

Dumbasses.
You are concentrating on the wrong thing, what you should be concentrating on is GOW trilogy remake, that's the main announcement here

Come on guys, that was an awesome SoP.
New DOA, GOW Remake announcement. Konami killing it with MGS, SH and even a new Castlevania. Even a couple surprises like John Wick and Kena 2. Yeah satisfied with that.

Sony Studio's however are sleeping at the wheel. Really fucked up the gen with the whole GaaS push.

Am I weird for finding the Sons of Sparta announcement more exciting than the trilogy remake?
I thought it looked good but from reading the comments no one seems to like it. I don't know what's wrong with people anymore. One guy saying the industry is a joke. I'm positive a large portion of this site has full on depression.

even the original voice actor is way cooler than the new one. Long winded MF.

I will wait to see how updated for modern audiences the remakes are but GoW is trilogy is goated.

Solid ( :p ) state of play, would give it A+ if not that pixelated indie closer, gotta give it A- instead.
Slimmy being prepared for new AAA current/next gen GoW and realising its snes graphics pixelated indie-mess:

Silent hill townfall game of show for me. Looked superb.

Castlevania a close second.

Konami saved this shit.

Sony's strategy for 2026 is "Lets just publish 2025 games that we didnt publish last year and chill 🚬, GTA6 will be releasing sometime this year and cover all expenses of all PSStudios"

Im glad Marathon was less than 5 mins

8/10 show. A lot of games in there I want to play this time

Yeah I'd give it a 7.5/10 or 8. Honestly for 'first State of Play' of the year, this almost felt like an E3 adjacent July State of Play. Not bad. really Put Microsoft's showing to shame. Nintendo's a no show for any first party Direct.

Castlevania had me interested. I honestly kind of liked what I saw with that John Wick game. The Rayman 30th looked cool. Metal Gear Collection vol. 4. Nice to see Konami back. Some good surprises. Well played Sony.

God of war trilogy remake!! 🥳🥳🥳

If it wasn't for that announcement this would have been a complete failure.
Loved the GoW Trilogy, but was letdown by nothing to show but a logo.

It's definitely on my wait and see list though. If they just do an uprez pass, I'm going to be severely disappointed especially if they decide to censor some of the good shit.

Welp...

I was hoping it would be a new God of War in the old style then they said Trilogy so I thought a remaster but then they said remake. And then even worse it's very early on. In other words we're not going to hear about this for quite some time and not even a glimpse of what they have in mind I hope they don't jack it all up. That's a lot of time and effort though for three games. I would have preferred a new game in the old style but I guess we get what we get. And that 2D game looks so cheap, why would they end with that.

That was pretty good. My faith in SIE is starting to restore steadily; out of the announcements here were my top picks:

-KENA 2 (looks really good, glad to see Ember Lab back to making games again)

-Dead or Alive 7 (FINALLY!!)

-Control Resonant (neat stylistic stuff)

-Beast of Reincarnation (Game Freaks can cook when the hardware's capable 😉)

-Yakoh: Shinobi Ops (isometric Tenchu could be cool)

-Project Windless (aka Alien Soldier 2: Black Myth Chicken)

-Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (good art style, very fluid animation)

-Silent Hill: Townfall (might be a bit TOO closely similar to Silent Hill 2 visually but could have some neat Candyman x Jacob's Ladder stuff too)

-Rev.NOIR (could be a pretty neat Japanese RPG)

-Saros (slick looking gameplay)

-Marvel Tokon (looking great as usual)

...and the GOW Trilogy Remake (awesome to see T.C Carson back) is going to be very interesting. See SIE, those are the kind of games that justify a remake (despite the originals still being well to play today), not stuff like TLOU or Horizon Zero Dawn. The GOW Metroidvania game could be fun, but the art style (more specifically, the animations) were a bit iffy looking for me. But it works well as a shadow drop, absolutely.

Definitely one of the better State of Play events over the past two years.

People in here with their pitchforks trying to catch Sony cuz of no Final Fantasy VII Part 3 announcement.
