I am down for a random KFC Heroism with Black Wukong Crossover. Not everyday you get to be taken seriously in a chicken suit.

Between UE5 and so much stuff on screen this thing will give us frame rate and resolution that hasn't been seen since the release of Shrek 2 (the movie) on GBA

It could be that this is just one of the characters in the game. The book is about a group of four characters of various races, that birdlike character is one of them.

The series is set in a world inhabited by four major races: humans, the powerful bird-like Rekon, the flame-wielding Tokkebi, and the reptilian Nhaga, who relinquish their hearts for immortality, allowing them to dominate the southern half of the world.

When a Nhaga envoy is dispatched to North, a trio—each member representing one of the remaining three races—is assembled to escort the envoy. However, the original envoy is brutally murdered, and his replacement is an anomaly: a Nhaga who still has a heart, making him much more vulnerable. As the rescue party navigates hostile terrain and centuries of animosity, they must confront their own prejudices and uncover the hidden purpose of their journey, which may determine the fate of the entire world

That three year old concept trailer seems to feature the human character in that party.

It's like a joke concept that some stupid executive liked

It's based on a bestselling Korean fantasy novel series that absolutely no one in the west knows about. (I didn't know about it too, I had to go on Wikipedia to find out more). Making a video game based on an IP that's absolutely unknown and then having a chicken-man as the main character is a brave decision. But as I said, that guy is just one of the main characters, maybe he was featured in the trailer because his character is so unique. Or perhaps he IS the main protagonist. Who knows?

BTW The English translation of the first "The Bird That Drinks Tears" novel will come out in June.

I remember this concept trailer, looked cool but always felt like fake UE slop

seems they made a crazy choice to say fuck that, lets go chicken of dynasty of warriors

I thought it looked really interesting, even if it's kinda weird playing as a serious warrior chicken.

Wait, is this the game YongYea voices the protagonist in? Is he actually dubbing the chicken?

There are four main characters in the novel representing each race, it looks like they only teased the bird character in the announcement. I'm guessing Krafton is planning to show three other characters as they release more info and trailer.

My heuristic for evaluating this game basically boiled down to this:

No one is asking for a high-definition serious action game game where you play as a giant combat rooster, therefore someone with a sincere vision has to be behind this thing. Meaning it will likely be pretty good!

Something about this game's style, I thought it was like a Wukong sequel, or another Chinese Dark Souls. They all look the same. I think the mass armies in this one was pretty unique, though.

Between this and that rabbit game, what's up with animals protagonist? Wukong influence?
It's Asia, those are common there, and they start to flex their mythology as they are big enough themselves and no longer need to cater to West cultural code
This one looks kinda like Tengu, but as it's Korean they have their own variety
